Lesbian Activist Gives Away the Ending

The Obama State Department recently honored Masha Gessen, a lesbian activist who had this to say on the topic of gay marriage:

I agree that we should have the right to marry, but I also think equally that it is a no-brainer that the institution of marriage should not exist. . . . Fighting for gay marriage generally involves lying about what we’re going to do with marriage when we get there, because we lie that the institution of marriage is not going to change, and that is a lie. The institution of marriage is going to change, and it should change, and again, I don’t think it should exist.

  1. Do these people not understand that societal institutions and customs evolved for specific reasons?

Rhetorical question. Of course they don’t.

In the teenage emotional environment of the Progressive world, societal customs and rituals stand in for their parent’s rules. They must rebel, ‘express themselves’ (throw temper tantrums), and destroy the existing structure so they can substitute their own fairer, more just, system.

  2. Marriage is an imperative to any society. These Commies are clueless.

  3. Simple thought experiment:

Imagine a world where children are picked in a cabbage patch, or are brought by the stork, or whatever. Sex never results in pregnancy, nor an imperative to go to the cabbage patch, or wait for the stork.

In such a world, where there be any marriages?

The obvious answer is no. There would be no need for them.

The reveals the purpose of marriage–to provide a stable platform on which children can be conceived, born, and raised.

Society does not benefits from stable couples. Society benefits from stable FAMILIES where children have the best chance of growing to be well adjusted members of society.

The decline of marriage began last century, and accelerated first with the development of effective birth control (hello again, Margaret Sanger!) which enabled heterosexuals to enjoy the perks of marriage without the responsibilities for which the perks were given, then no-fault divorce which enabled first childless couples to split without trying to salvage their marriage, then couples with children purportedly for the benefit of the children (despite study after study that shows that children of divorce do NOT benefit from it at all), until marriage became nothing more than a legal sanction for sex, and nothing more.

Draw your conclusions based on that, however you like.

  4. I can understand that some couples may need to resort to “quick and easy” contraception methods if their resources are already strained. Natural Family Planning may not be the most reliable or easiest method of spacing children, but at least it requires a little responsibility and involvement from the couple in question.

I’ve known about Masha Gessen and her blatant “destroy marriage” agenda. However, Mark Steyn predicted something that I think will come true. Liberals, being consummate hypocrites, will continue to marry and expect fidelity from their spouses for political purposes, even after the main body of society has turned to whatever comes after- sexual anarchy? Polyamory? What?

Throbert, since you seem to be the resident knower of things like this, what can you tell us about polyamory? How likely is it that dissolution of marriage would lead to the acceptance of multiple-partner relationships?

  5. SeanL, your answer lies in any inner city. Also, history. What happens when society implodes?
It might not go where the libs wish it to go. Especially when lying pols like Hillary and obama are actively helping groups like the muslim brotherhood. ISIS came out Syria, of the rebels they armed. Qatar was involved as a third party. Qatar received the five terrorists and are housing them in a palace…at the same time sending 1800 to Syria.

  6. Also if a woman knows her body, days of fertility are easy to recognize. Easy and pretty reliable. It just requires self-control by both parties for those days.

  7. Yes. Let’s abolish marriage. A man and a woman have no legal obligation to each other. When you brteak up, pack your stuff and walk out the door. The car is in my name, you can’t have it. the house is in my name. Take the clothes on your back, shuffle off down the street and try to make a living. Don’t bother me, I have a good job.

Is that what these Moonbats want? Is that The Gay Agenda(tm)

  8. So many of these ideas present themselves as wanting something for themselves – marriage, recognition, equality – but when it comes down to it they’re always about societal reforms – changing or removing that thing for everyone else. Always driving towards the hippie no-consequences utopian ideal that spawned so many of these concepts.
It’s the difference between true equality, and radicalism. Radicalism is much less palatable, so it disguises itself and slips through…

  9. Strange, isn’t it, that tribes which are totally isolated from the brilliance of Progressive culture settle into forms of marriage and family units.

And then there are the rakes and harlots who lose themselves to carnal pleasure and become sots, addicts and reprobates. Not much anthropological evidence of that being a good form for continuity and stability.

The elite Romans, I am advised, got so civilized that they spent their bodies and minds in endless bouts of orgy. Just think of the gifts they exchanged in the days before simple medicine.

This lesbian is so full of self-hatred that she can only wish for the demise of civilization. If she can not rise to the level of common normalcy, she will destroy those who create the norm.

What you are witnessing is a pathology laid bare.

  10. @ Heliotrope: A “lesbian” who is dating one or two women, and has had four children with three different men. She sites her own flagrant disregard for monogamy as proof of its unfeasibility.

  11. They see something they cant have and when they get it realize it is something they cant maintain. If gay marriage existed I would be paying alimony to at least one guy. If the right wants gay marriage to die make gay alimony unavoidable, whoever earns the most has to pay.

  12. The other part to destroy western civilization is that the HIPAA law was basically created to keep men from finding out their wives cheated on them, & that kids are not theirs.

Even with genetic testing for inherited traits medical “”ethicists”” favor lying to the father if they discover a child with a trait couldn’t be his. With cystic fibrosis both bio parents would have to have the recessive trait, so a man without it would be lied to about the risk of having offspring sickly offspring.

  13. Steve,

HIPAA doesn’t apply to minors though. At least not in keeping their records from their parents.

    Comment by The_Livewire — June 25, 2014 @ 3:31 pm - June 25, 2014

  14. @ The_Livewire- I might be dating myself here, but under the Privacy Act ,which predated hipaa, guys would often find out their girl cheated on them or a kid wasn’t theirs with resulting domestic violence. Even though people have access to their records they don’t actually have access to the understanding of their records. If medical personal know they will not tell the guy, even to the point they will lie about chances of inheritable diseases that he couldn’t pass on, unless there is a specific paternity testing ordered. They will often tell the woman but not the guy, which doesn’t make sense as the woman would know.

In maternity fathers basically have no rights, and the medical ethics publications ignore any possible right for fathers to know if a kid is theirs when it is evidenced by anything but an ordered paternity test. The whole part of it doesn’t matter if you are the real dad, if its better to let you keep thinking it so you keep paying for a kid that’s not yours is a way to further erode families. Just like the left likes to destroy things they cant have.
