The Left Descends into Onionesque Self-Parody

The Left-Wing Newsrag ‘The Guardian’ publishes a piece in which the sensitive, enlightened, progressive author describes her heartbreaking heartache at the levels of intolerance and racism displayed by Thomas the Tank Engine.

In the episode “Tickled Pink”, poor vain James, is ordered by Topham Hat to get a new coat of paint. But while James has only had an undercoat of pink slathered on, Topham Hatt interrupts and demands that James go pick up Hatt’s granddaughter and deliver her and her friends to a birthday party right now.

James is mortified that he has to travel while pink and proceeds to hide from all the other trains along the way. When he’s caught, the other trains – including Thomas – viciously laugh and mock him.

But once James gets back on the rails and picks up Granddaughter Hatt and her friends, all seemingly ends well because the girls love pink.

And then she really loses it. [To get the full effect, imagine Kathy Bates shrieking the next passage at James Caan in Misery.)

Well guess what? It’s not OK. You think a little boy watching Thomas is going to file away the lesson that pink is OK for boys? No, what kids remember is that James was laughed at, cruelly, over and over again, because he looked different and was clad in a “girly” pink color.

The author also thinks that the way diesel trains on Thomas the Tank Engine spew black smoke is clearly racist.

Meanwhile, the Palestinians (who are, of course, supported by The Guardian, the author of the piece, and all “good” leftists,) have children’s shows that openly advocate Jew-killing.

A young girl on Al-Aqsa TV’s “Tomorrow’s Pioneers” told a child host that she wants to grow up to be a policeman so she “can shoot Jews,” according to a translation of the May 2 episode by Palestinian Media Watch.

The host then excitedly asked: “All of them?”

“Yes,” the young girl replied, to which the child host responded, “good.”

Y’know, sometimes, I feel like the left is seriously out of touch with reality.

  1. Y’know, sometimes, I feel like the left is seriously out of touch with reality.

Well, of course they are, V! I think it is their goal that children not recognize real evil when they see it.

How else do you explain Obama getting elected…twice.

  2. You know it’s bad when the left rants about Thomas the Tank Engine.

  3. Not surprising considering that The Left disapproves of most Sesame Street episodes from the 70s and 80s for being insufficiently-PC for today’s children. Or, of Bugs Bunny in-drag…

Even in my childhood –well, High School in the early-70s — we knew Burt and Ernie were **cough** “friends” **cough**. I not even going to discuss those old, bitter queens, Waldorff and Statler

  4. My former acquaintance on Facebook spent the livelong day bemoaning the Israeli “genocide” of the Palestinians. Either he was ignorant of Palestinians’ intrinsic hatred for Israelis and their desire to kill them, or he thinks “the Jews started it.”

  5. Leftist approved Muslim kids show:
    “I’d love you
    to kill some jew
Stab a bomb on your back
    and run to the pew.”
Leftist’s then cry that Tom the Tank uses coal instead of wind power.

  6. I doubt Muslims will ever love their children more than they hate their enemies.

  7. Genocide usually includes casualties on a massive scale. If Israel is committing genocide, where are the stacks of bodies?

  8. Ted B, I was a child of the 70’s and 80’s, I watched the early Sesame Streets and loved Bugs in drag (he’s so wovley!). Now I read Gay Patriot. Guess they’re right 🙂

Neither side seems to be immune to drama– last night on Fox’s The View Five they were all bent out of shape because this in week’s episode of True Blood some of the characters made fun of Republicans.

  9. @ Sathar: I think the controversy with True Blood was not that they were mocking Republicans, but were using a rather vulgar word to demean Republican women. It’s rather hypocritical for Leftists to scream “war on women” when an overgrown undergrad’s sexual lifestyle gets criticized, but turn around and laugh when Republican women are called the most vulgar term for women in the English language. A little internal consistency would be nice.

  10. I would blow Obama in exchange for a resignation.

  11. If you’re in search of further Leftist comedy gems, scroll through the Guardian comments section responding to the piece about Thomas the Tank Engine — in particular, note the phrase “Peak Guardian” and the debate over whether this theoretical point of absolutely pure bollocksosity has finally been attained.

Lots of readers offer links to stories in which the Guardian out-Grauniads itself, e.g., “Are Peruvian peasants being forced to switch to junk food as consumer demand among 1st-world vegans and health nuts drives up the price of quinoa?”
