An article in the Progressive Left “The Atlantic” magazine/website (the same place that let Andrew Sullivan spew his deranged conspiracy theories about the parentage of little Trig Palin) uses sympathetic portrayals of groups of people in Denobulan-style arrangements of multiple ongoing sex partners as worthy of normalization. No, not just normalization, these brave pioneers should be praised and celebrated.
Polyamorous people still face plenty of stigmas, but some studies suggest they handle certain relationship challenges better than monogamous people do.
“Polys” are more likely to be liberal and educated, she said, and in the rare cases that they do practice religion, it’s usually paganism or Unitarian Universalism.
Liberal! Educated! Pagan! Hip! They handle relationships better! Why, it’s almost as though the left is trying to convince everyone that polyamorous people are just plain better (in progressive terms) than stick-in-the-mud traditionally monogamous people.
It’s so unfortunate that no one — NO ONE — could have predicted that this would be a consequence of normalizing gay marriage.
It’s normal for people that have had some libertine victories to think anything is possible. It’s not. There are obvious limits to what Western Culture, as a whole, will tolerate.
It’s funny to know that they are attempting to further radicalize society. People do accept that many things exist. There’s always going to be that percentage of village idiot, in any town. It’s a totally different ball of wax to legalize it or give it validation.
What always happens? When limits are crossed, they’re swatted down.
Slippery slope getting slippery and more slopey.
Is it just me, or is American culture resembling that of Ancient Rome before it fell?

I’m willing to bet that one form of polyamory will still be discouraged- one man, many women. Expect to see the reverse arrangement- one woman, many men- to be lauded.
This is one of many areas when my personal and religious beliefs clash with my political beliefs. On the political side, I believe that people should be free to form whatever personal associations that they find works best for them. If you think you can handle multiple spouses, more power to you; the State shouldn’t interfere. But neither should we be required to subsidize your personal lifestyle choices.
Yes, because, as everyone knows, the communes that practiced polyamory as a requirement and were ubiquitous throughout the West Coast in the 1960s are still thriving islands of stability today.
Or not.
Is there actually anything bad about this? Or is it just the mendacity of the people who say slippery slope arguments are silly that you dislike?
Hang on, NAMBLA…your day’s a’comin’…
I think liberals are very hedonistic-they are essentially two year olds with sex drives who want what they want when they want it and everyone else be damned.
@Sean- I am surprised that guys are willing to put up with one feminist woman, the one woman with many men is already here by cheating hoes, but that will never be an LTR. The trick for str8 guys is they have to treat feminist women bad and they can have MFFFFFF, while nice guys end up like that college knifer. I have seen enough battered women to come to the conclusion that the trick for str8 guys to have to beat women off with a stick is to beat them with a stick.
liberal nightmare- poor Asians kicked out of top NYC school so that it can be more than 3% total black+Hispanic.

“To modern “progressive” elites, though, the story is intolerable, starting with the hard work. These liberal elites seem particularly troubled by the Asian-American work ethic and the difficult questions that it raises about the role of culture in group success”
I thought for sure bestiality, pedophilia and intergenerational incest were next on the sociopaths of the social left’s “to do” list. Incremental steps before pedophilia. Good thing we have lots of oak trees to hang white collar sociopaths from that advocate for legalizing pedophilia and intergenerational incest.
Do you now or have you ever touched another guys peener?

I take back what I said about Bathhouse Barry having AIDS. People that knew Clintons secretes got in plane crashes as well.

For the last twenty years, I have been a member of Religious Science, which would put it in the general class of unitarian or universalist. I have not heard of any member being or practicing polyamory. The members are decent folk and almost normal, (the majority are Democrats). The unitarians tend to be radical, such as in the early 70’s giving platform to the Jesuit, Fr. Berrigan. If there should be a polyamorous movement I wonder if they (unitarians) will devise a wedding ceremony for the occasion.
“It’s so unfortunate that no one — NO ONE — could have predicted that this would be a consequence of normalizing gay marriage.”
Apparently, you don’t know any transparent cultural Marxists. In the faculty lounge, they’re all pretty transparent about the fact that the normalization of gay marriage is one step in a sequential agenda to deconstruct and dismantle ALL marriage for EVERYONE.
The one of the saddest aspects of their agenda is that the LGBTQ-A “marriage equality” lobby is an unwitting dupe, and will be left with the same fate when the revolution has claimed victory.
Read the Vekhi. Read Carle Zimmerman. Don’t say you weren’t told.
@ Jim A: Oh, some of the LGBT community know what the end-goal is. And they are vocal about it. Just ask lesbian journalist Masha Gessen and gay porn actor Connor Habib.
Roberto not to take the trail too much further but here the UU church fired it’s pastor because she was too Christian for them. The UU church here is very pagan/eastern and not at all into monotheism. It’s kind of weird because the UU church bills itself as open to all but they really aren’t-they’re just another my way or the highway liberal group who pretends they are open minded.
