I was just watching the W.S. Churchill funeral on Youtube.
Sir Winston compared to Barry? **shudder**
How did our leaders become so-small?
    …And their ideas even-smaller.

“Let me be clear…” >>– translated to common speach –>> “What you hear next will be a lie, but I firmly believe my own lie.”

Obama had to be thinking; ‘Gosh, the teleprompter says, “Let me be clear”‘. ‘Who wrote that I wonder but dammit I better read it because I have no clue what to say otherwise.’

Let me be clear” has a correlative imbedded in it. It is a tacit warning that other statements surrounding the emphasized statement may be full of obfuscation, ambiguity and duplicitous double-talk.

“Let me be clear” is not something an orator of integrity normally says. The orator of integrity would choose words such as “let there be no misunderstanding” or “I wish to emphasize” and thus avoid any inference that he has been just prattling on and on.

Churchill was impatient with the use of “in other words.” His response was to tell the person to get his words right and precise the first time and to stop assuming that the listener was too dull to understand what he just said.

Obama is so instinctively driven to voting “present” that when he shifts to making a command statement, he feels it must be dressed in an extravagantly imposed mandate.

When I hear “let me be clear” from his lips, I hear him warning that he going to repeat a lie he has told before. I also know that he is doing a bit of theater for the moment and that his minions will parse it in outrageous ways when he walks aways from whatever he was making “clear.”

I recall the Monday, April 30, 1973 Time report on “Nix-speak”:

White House Press Secretary Ronald Ziegler enlarged the vocabulary last week, declaring that all of Nixon’s previous statements on Watergate were “inoperative.” Not incorrect, not misinformed, not untrue—simply inoperative, like batteries gone dead.

So it is with Obama. The “let me be clear” of today is just fuel for skeptics by tomorrow as the explaining, clarifying and back peddling is launched to inform you that your lying ears are to blame for your stupid misunderstanding. And the MSM bray in compliance.

Has anyone seen the anti-war left since O-Hole won the Peace Prize?

I was opposed to President Obama helping the rebels in Libya, but in Congress I would have supported him as I usually defer to the Commander-in-chief. However, I am diametrically against aiding the moderate Syrian rebels. But I would give aid to the Kurds, who are generally friendly to the US.
