Liberal White Guilt versus Ebola

October 5, 2014 by V the K

A liberal panelist on CNN explains why basic, commonsense measures to stop the spread of Ebola and other hemorrhagic diseases  … such as quarantining people traveling from regions where the disease is epidemic… is not possible. It’s because of slavery.

David Quammen, author of Ebola, believes the past sins of the United States require it to maintain travel links with the nation, despite the possible health consequences.

“We in America, how dare we turn our backs on Liberia, given the fact that this is a country that was founded in the 1820s, 1830s because of American slavery?” he told Cooper. “We have a responsibility to stay connected with them, and help them see this through.”

I begin to think Ebola is evolution’s way of telling us that our society has become too stupid to survive.

We can keep ties with Liberia while still having some sort of quarantine or embargo on travel there. We can continue to send medical aid and allow missionaries and other volunteers–even professionals–to go there subject to safeguards for the return trip. But unlimited, un-medically screened travel from there to here is not sensible.

Yes, there are thing we can do and we should help the Liberians, but not here. They need to help themselves., even if it means putting the country under quarantine. Many might travel to Europena countries to make connections to the U.S. and could be spreading the virus there as well.

Patient-Zero arrived in Dallas via Brussels. ‘Nuff said…

And what’s to stop anyone exposed to Ebola — for the price for a one-way ticket to the US — from coming here and getting gold-plated health-care courtesy of the US Taxpayer? Nothing!!

And once here they’ll demand asylum, …with green cards and welfare for their extended families.
