Amurek Story Takes a Twist

October 11, 2014 by V the K

According to Ezra Levant, Amurek… the company that sent deranged, hate-filled letters to a Christian woman who applied for an internship… doesn’t actually exist.

Amaruk isn’t real. They have a grandiose website, with beautiful images of the great outdoors. But they’re fake photos – ripped off from the Internet. The website boasts of being a massive, multi-national tourism company. But no actual trips or tours are listed. The location of the outdoor fantasy photos, or their “40,000-sheep ranch” are never identified.

The website is affiliated with other websites that have a homo-erotic feeling – idolizing the “Viking” lifestyle – bearded hipsters with great abs, out in the woods.

The CBC’s investigative reporter, Natalie Clancy, got her story half-right. Bethany was the subject of an anti-Christian tirade. But she didn’t lose a job over it – there was no job to be had. It was an elaborate hoax.

Apparently, the website is real, and presents itself as real, but it seems to be just some weird gay dudes with a Viking fetish who hate Christians.

In a saner world, it would be fun if Marvel Comics were to pick up the Amaruk franchise and do a blockbuster movie about the 40,000-sheep ranch and the band of gay Vikings romping through the woods in search of more sheep.

Whether or not this Amaruk has anything to do with gays or not is debatable. I reviewed their site. It appears to me to be 2 or 3 people who want to sell themselves as outdoor, adventure guides. Probably based in Norway, not subject to the laws of Canada & they’ve built a spiffy website that’s basically an exaggeration, in order to charge anyone, stupid enough to fall for the ploy, big bucks.
It’s not an issue. The girl stumbled on people who are neo-pagans, who decided to over-react to her request at internship.
I know several of these neo-pagans, mostly Scandinavians. Yes, they’re anti-christian & bombastic.
Their selling points include a number of shirtless pics, in the tradition of showing some skin in order to get some bucks. Unless the neo-Viking/neo-pagan movement is understood, it’s going to be unfamiliar to the general public. They venerate the old gods.

Whoa! Understanding Ásatrú is not hard. It is just another run-of-the-mill creation myth with no compelling set of principles other than doing rituals to appease or appeal to the gods. It does not matter if there is or isn’t devil worship involved because it is all a power play between high practitioners and the mopes. One only need read Shaw, Marx or Hitler to understand how the man and superman scheme works.

George Bernard Shaw unintentionally clearly identified those who do not care to incorporate The Golden Rule as the core of their belief system:

“Your friends are all the dullest dogs I know. They are not beautiful: they are only decorated. They are not clean: they are only shaved and starched. They are not dignified: they are only fashionably dressed. They are not educated: they are only college passmen. They are not religious: they are only pewrenters. They are not moral: they are only conventional. They are not virtuous: they are only cowardly. They are not even vicious: they are only “frail.” They are not artistic: they are only lascivious. They are not prosperous: they are only rich. They are not loyal, they are only servile; not dutiful, only sheepish; not public spirited, only patriotic; not courageous, only quarrelsome; not determined, only obstinate; not masterful, only domineering; not self-controlled, only obtuse; not self-respecting, only vain; not kind, only sentimental; not social, only gregarious; not considerate, only polite; not intelligent, only opinionated; not progressive, only factious; not imaginative, only superstitious; not just, only vindictive; not generous, only propitiatory; not disciplined, only cowed; and not truthful at all: liars every one of them, to the very backbone of their souls.”

Thus it is with polytheism, neo-paganism, Nazism, et. al.; might makes right and the gods quarrel among themselves as the mopes rape, pillage and burn.

It is always thus with vanity fueled association.

@ Heliotrope: Perhaps you’ve had run-ins with unpleasant neo-pagans, but I’ve had encounters with perfectly nice ones who have no beef with Christians. And polytheism, neo-paganism, and Nazism may overlap at some points, but not always. Wicca is essentially Left Libertarianism with some dualistic religion thrown in. Norse paganism runs the gamut from fascist to social conservative to Right Libertarian.

Funny that people who criticize socialists for painting their rivals with a broad brush would accuse an entire religious movement of being evil. Calling all neo-pagans fascists is like calling all Christians homophobic.

Don’t be a liberal. Educated yourself before commenting on something you don’t understand, and don’t fly to your keyboards the second your initial bias is confirmed.

    Sean L,

I take your point that pacifist communes committed to daisy power are hardly nazis or committed to raping, pillaging and burning. I wish them no ill fortune so long as they stay out of my heavily taxed pockets. It they are transported by the Great Invisible Humming Bird and they dye themselves fuchsia is not my concern.

However, I am confused about this:

Don’t be a liberal. Educated yourself before commenting on something you don’t understand, and don’t fly to your keyboards the second your initial bias is confirmed.

I am at sea about what the meaning of this and just what instructions I am being given.

Someone from one belief system criticizing another belief system is patently ridiculous. I won’t go into the basic reason why, as it would end up insulting the pompous among us.
Aside from whatever neo-paganism is or not, its virtues & failures (which have counterparts in Christianity aplenty); the people that run the website are mercenaries, using the imagery of the current “Viking fad” to sell themselves as nature guides. That’s all it is. They’re children & the response they gave to the “Christian” girlie, who just wanted to participate, is similar to many comments here when their religion is maligned, clarified or is the target of perceived insult.

@ Marc Winger: When you say “their religion,” are you referring to the Amaruk lot’s Heathenry, or the religion of the commenters on this site?

I have found that most neo pagans are in it just to say they are not Christians. A lot of Authority/Parent issues with them.

That is a great quote, Heliotrope. It describes too many people so well. (And I intend to borrow it–what work did it come from so I can attribute it properly?)

    Man and Superman.

Mostly, I cringe at how Shaw’s mind revealed his contorted thinking, but give the devil his due — this particular construction was a masterpiece in identifying the difference between vanity and virtue, pride and prejudice and superiority and humility.
