GOP Senators Whine Because They Had to Work on Saturday

December 16, 2014 by V the K

It’s a safe bet Mike Rowe is never going to do a show about the hard work of showing up in Washington to cast a vote for Emperor Barack’s Royal Budget; but that didn’t stop Republican senators from whining about their “hardship.”

“I think this is ridiculous,” Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), who had already returned to New Hampshire with plans to “to see The Nutcracker with her daughter this weekend,” told whined to Politico.

Other Republican cry-babies included Bob Corker, who had to cancel a trip to Turkey, and others who were taken away from the Army-Navy football game. And for some reason, instead of criticizing the Emperor, or his Viceroy Harry Reid, they are all attacking Republican Senator Ted Cruz.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), a liberal Republican who also voted for the Gang of Eight bill, personally accosted Cruz on the Senate floor, according to Politico. “In the meantime, you are going to make everybody miserable,” Collins “sternly” told Cruz, Politico wrote, before turning to Hatch as she walked away from him to say: “I tried.”

Could these people be any more out of touch?

When I was an actively employed executive in private industry, our office manager, would remind us from time to time that we were on call twenty four hours. I don’t believe that our company was unique in corporate America. If it was a requirement for private industry it should be required of our elected representatives. The trouble is too many seek election for the perks and not for the responsibilities and the privilege to serve.

How did United States Senators become so “small”?

I think the House and the Senate are in session way too long. Cut the numbers of days they are in session back. Perhaps this will curtail all the fluff and they would have to concentrate their time on the items that really matter.

As a Maine resident, Sen. Collins, is a total disappointment.

Ted B., it started with the 17th Amendment which made the Senate an adjunct to the House instead of representing the States.

If Lobogris is on here, can you fill me in on what you know about the Asatru Folk Assembly? From what I gather, they are a group of “folkish” Asatruar who have been attacked by SJWs as “racists” and “sexists.” Normally, I pay such accusations no heed, especially from the sort of people who make them. I emailed one of their regional representatives to get more information on their stance on certain topics, but I have heard nothing back from her yet. Since you are this site’s resident Odin-worshipper, I was wondering if you have had any run-ins with them, and if you could confirm if they really are as bad as some people say they are.

While Cruz talks a good game, that’s usually all he does when he’s not gleefully putting a wrench in the works like he did recently giving Reid a last win before the handover of the Senate to the GOP.
I’m among many now seeing Cruz as nothing but someone that panders to Conservatives, without regard to actual action. Just because left leaning GOP criticize him doesn’t lessen his mistakes. Consistent, self-serving agitation isn’t admirable.
Though I don’t support compromising conservatism, when compromise & team effort is the only option it would be a positive if he’d communicate well & go with the flow.
Reid just got a win & if legislators want to be real stars they need to get others to support them. Support of one (the admirable Mike Lee) doesn’t constitute a win.

Are we all afraid to be the first to post about the mini “Katrina” CA & San Fran had last week because it shows how non-resilient our “community” is? Would it be less tasteful then pointing out our exes at the street fair/graveyard?

Even before the refugee muslim jihadist killed innocent victims in the Australian attack, the media was spinning the fear of consequences for muslims

Thank you Sen Sessions, Cruz, Lee et al, for putting progressives/libertarians on the record regarding the unconstitutional and illegal act of executive amnesty by our criminal POTUS………

What’s with blaming Cruz, Lee, et al for these confirmations. Does anyone truly believe that Dingy Harry would have left these hanging? Given that lower-level nominations can’t be filibustered, the confirmations were a fait accompli.

Cruz may or may not be the real thing but making these people put their name on the record and voting for this monstrosity (amnesty and all) was needed.

The $1T+ spending bill was an amendment to some obscure bill authorizing a study of electricity rates in the “insular areas” (Puerto Rico, Marshall Islands, etc). So it was business as usual – the congress-critters not knowing as much about the bill as the average Joe knows about a car loan contract.

I share the concern expressed by Marc in comment #7. Senator Cruz was foolhardy to bring up his motion, when he only had 21 supporters. If you really want to make changes, you first convince enough people to support you to have a chance of winning. He need not have been sure of a majority, but at least to be certain of being close before bringing up his motion. 22 votes is way below that threshold.

Why did Cruz not do the work to get a majority for a motion on the issue? Why did he not wait until January, when he will have a great deal more chances to work things out, since the new Senate leadership will be way more supportive and helpful for him than the current one.

Cruz cannot become a serious Presidential candidate until he shows he can convince people he is right. He is not able to do that now.

KCRob, the Establishment hates Cruz and Lee because they disrupt the cozy “bipartisan” “you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours” arrangement that’s gotten us $18 Trillion in debt.
