In 2014, the Feminists didn’t just jump the shark, they achieved Geosynchronous Orbit over it. Every week seemed to bring a new feminist outrage. Charlotte Allen at the LA Times has a rundown of some of the Peak Idiocy Feminism (Inc.) hit this year, including:
- The time Rolling Stone published a made-up story about a gang rape at UVAand feminists said it didn’t matter that it was made up because men who were accused of rape didn’t deserve the presumption of innocence because boys are icky.
- The time feminists went all hysterical because a scientist who had just landed a space probe on a friggin’ comet wore a shirt that gave them the sads.
- The time feminists went all hysterical because Spiderwoman was drawn in an attractive way on the cover of a comic book.
- The time feminists made a video of a bunch of pre-teen girls shrieking the F-bomb like a gang of horny sailors to promote their feminist ideals.
And then, because feminist hysteria is such a target-rich environment, Tim Blair adds a few more, mostly concerned with Western Feminism’s Huge 360-Degree Blindspot when it comes to the way Mohammedans treat women [Hat Tip: AoSHQ ONT] (the gay left has this same problem), but both of them forget to mention the feminists going nutzoid over “manspreading.”
And Yes, of course, there were the “Slut Walks.” On a related note, 2014 also had, in entertainment, the spectacle of Beyonce parading around in next-to-nothing, shaking her silicone bags in front of a giant lighted sign reading “Feminist,” decidedly a mixed message at best.
However, 2014 was also the year the ‘War on Women’ rhetoric stopped working. Colorado Democrat Mark Udall based his entire senate campaign on accusing his Republican opponent of hatin’ the womenfolk and he lost resoundingly. Democrat Abortion Advocate Wendy Davis ran her Texas gubernatorial campaign entirely on “I Am Woman, Hear Me Whine,” and went down to an epic defeat.
The fact that feminists get so hysterical over silly little things can only mean that the major stuff has been pretty much worked out; and being forced to wear a Burqa, denied an education, or stoned to death for an accusation of adultery must not be major stuff to feminists.
The Feminists may not realize how ridiculous they have become, but the rest of the world is waking up.
