February 27, 2015 by V the K

I expect Obama to commemorate the occasion by tweeting a picture of himself.

    Well, there is a convenient gap there between McCoy and Kirk.

    Obama pretends that he’s a celebrity on par with Nimoy & any mention is an attempt at ownership.

    I’m sort of in shock that Nimoy is no longer among the living. Still, he lived a long life indeed.

    Started to see posts on Facebook. I was really caught off guard. Sad that the original Mr. Spock is dead for real. Both Spock’s death scene in “Wrath of Khan” and Kirk’s death in “Into Darkness” were very emotional, but for different reasons: Kirk was wracked with the knowledge that his arrogance had killed his best friend in the former, and the normally stoic Spock allowed himself to feel the very human emotion of grief in the latter. I think the latter upset me more, though that’s because seeing stoic characters fall apart always sets me off.

    I think I’ll have to throw on “Wrath of Khan” tonight. Godspeed, Mr. Spock. You have been, and always shall be, our friend.

    The NY Times obit is good – Nimoy was a man of many talents and I got the impression that he was a stand-up guy.

    Yes, BHO’s twitter feed has a mention of Nimoy but no pic of Dear Leader (but there are plenty of them).

    RIP, Leonard Nimoy.

    #3: Godspeed, Mr. Spock. You have been, and always shall be, our friend.… Thanks, Sean. A very appropriate post.

    Amazing grace how sweet the sound
    that saved a wretch like me!
    I once was lost but now am found,
    was blind but now I see.

    ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
    and grace my fears relieved;
    how precious did that grace appear
    the hour I first believed!

    The Lord has promised good to me,
    his word my hope secures;
    he will my shield and portion be
    as long as life endures.

    Through many dangers, toils, and snares
    I have already come;
    ’tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
    and grace will lead me home.

    When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
    bright shining as the sun,
    we’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
    than when we’d first begun.

    @ Ted B.: Maybe I’m one of those weirdos who finds bagpipes to be a pleasant instrument, but that really is one of the most oddly touching moments in cinema. I’ve heard people say it shouldn’t work, but it does.

    The next Star Trek movie will probably be dedicated to Nimoy. Hopefully it’s good enough to honor his memory.

    Don’t forget Leonard Nimoy also played Paris in “Mission: Impossible” for a couple of years, plus he hosted/narrated the series “In Search of…”. In another medium, he did good work narrating the Milken Archive of Jewish Music. And, he was a soldier in the mid 1950s.

    But it is still Spok that I think of when I think of Leonard Nimoy.

    Thank you, Mr. Nimoy.

    You were right. But different media. He described Spock as his image of himself:” Cool, logical, big-eared and level-headed, the center of Star Trek’s optimistic, inclusive vision of humanity’s future.”

    In the show Spock was willing to die for his beliefs something no leftist would.

    “Media Matters… employs roughly 45 researchers. … all of these researchers have been tasked with helping the effort to expose past instances in which O’Reilly lied about his personal experiences.”

    The pic I saw of Oblahblah commemorating Leonard Nimoy’s passing was him and, I think Donna Brazille, doing the Spock fingers. It was on the WH twitter feed. All I can say we have THE most classless, pathologically malignant narcissist in the WH. It so sucks.

    “…the center of Star Trek’s optimistic, inclusive vision of humanity’s future.”

    Especially the fascist-socialist part where the all-encompassing State provides everything and controls everything. Nothing exists outside of the State.

    @ Ted B.: My favorite take-down of the Federation actually came from TNG. The setup is that two Klingons are tasting root beer for the first time, and are disgusted by it.

    Klingon 1 says, “This is disgusting! It’s cloying, bubbly, over-sweet-”

    Klingon 2 replies, “Just like the Federation!”

    And they share a laugh.

    The Sunday papers are reporting that “The Shatner” is too-busy to attend the funeral.

    What? …He can’t be bothered to even send his spare toupee?
