A couple of reminders that progressive leftists are, by and large, not normal people.
1. Lefties demand city of Buffalo, NY change its name because it is “offensive and racist.” (*A commenter supplies reasonable suggestion that this may be a satire.)
And they say Tea Partiers are crazy for wanting the Government to spend less money and stay out of people’s grills.
My understanding of the Buffalo move was to poke fun at the demands of others to change the name of a local High School called the Redskins, and that the demand came from Native Americans who wanted the Redskins name to remain.
I have often wondered what a “gressive” is. One can be a pro-gressive or a re-gressive. If you are a pro-gressive you are all in for equality of justice, living standards, standardized education, and myriad other identical outcomes. The pro-gressive adores and worships the constructs of uniformity, conformity and homogenized standards. Political correctness, hate speech, social justice and all the other uniformity dreams of Utopia are pro-gressive.
But then, along comes a group of pro-gressives who battle against the constructs of conformity, uniformity and homogenized standards.
The Native Americans divide regionally and ethnically by tribe and revel in their differences and perceived individual tribal superiorities. They seem to be set on a course of rugged individualism, but somehow have developed an innate sense of inferiority which makes them lash out against the great white demon that has kept them from …… what? Wandering around and working on intertribal hostilities and conquest? They sure weren’t trying to work out Native American conformity and homogeneity. From Pt. Barrow to Tierra del Fuego they had only each other to deal with and they chose the very essence of tribalism.
So students at UC-Irvine reject paradigms of conformity and homogenized standards such as tribalism, symbols, blending. How do they feel about LGBT which is an amalgamation masquerading as an homogenized group? Surely they do not want the “black issues” to go away. The deep seated victimization of ancestral enslavement should never give way to anything remotely resembling equal opportunity to survive outside of the bosom of the tribe.
The homogenized standards of the tribe include a tacit dislike for the homogenized standards of any and all competing tribes who are not on the same homogenized wave lengths and therefore must be found offensive and racist by definition.
That is all just as clear as mud. These pro-gressives interpret reality abnormally. They are pro-gressive toward something they disdain. In some circles, this is called schizophrenia.
Ah, Juvenal: Ad mores natura recurrit damnatos, fixa et mutari nescia – Human nature ever reverts to its depraved courses, fixed and immutable.
Any doubt that these pro-gressives worship their reasoning over the reasoning of all others? That is why they let the ends justify the means in structuring their version of Triumph des Willens – The Triumph of the Will. Here is how it ends.
Do you notice that these Communists utilize sentence constructions that are so obtuse that no one can understand what they are saying.
The problem as I see it is that the idiots that run for student offices are the same idiots that stay at the university and become administrators and professors. I live in a college town and grew up in a different college town and have observed the same attitude in both places, townies are low intelligence people who are around just to provide services to the elite and have no meaningful opinions about anything. Thank God most of them don’t want to associate with the great unwashed.
The name Buffalo is racist? It’s asinine. That indian must be smoking some funny stuff in his peace pipe. With his kind logic, it would be racist to kill off the walrus, which forms the major part of the eskimos diet.
Perhaps they are out of work Mission Statement consultants?
It should also be noted that the name of the city has nothing to do with any animal. The city lies at the terminus of the Buffalo River. The name of the river is an Anglicized version of “Beau Fleuve”, or “beautiful river.” No animals of any type were involved in the naming of the city.
With regard to UC Davis, I find it astounding that they simply do not see the contradiction of being inclusive by excluding something.
