Being a Democrat means that you and your entire staff don’t notice that your senior-most foreign policy advisor’s e-mail address doesn’t end in “.gov” for over 5-years.
No-one noticed in the thousands that went back and forth from State to the White House and back? …Not once? No-one typed a reply-Hillary and said, “…what the .gov on this?” Or actually read the page-header on the printed copy? No-one?
You only learned about it from the Press? …Last week? …Really?

Being a Democrat also requires you to believe that an organization calling itself the Islamic State is not really Islamic, that the US built “the intercontinental railroad,” that the US has 57 states, that Charleston SC, Savannah, GA, and Jacksonville, FL are all on the Gulf Coast, that the word for a military paramedic is “corpse man,” that economic sanctions are not a “viable alternative” to a bad treaty with Iran, and that the president who said all of those things is the “smartest guy on the planet,” a “kind of a god,” and “too intelligent to do the jobs that ordinary people do.”

I bought a new gun just yesterday at Cabela’s and they weren’t particularly busy. Additionally, in Kansas, a CCL serves as the background check (which speeds things up) yet it still took an hour.
I also bought vegetables yesterday – didn’t take long.
Maybe what BHO needs to consider is that in communities of Eric Holder’s people, the business climate for book shops, Trader Joe’s, and legit gun shops is poor. Maybe he could speak to that reality… of course, that might be constructive and constructive isn’t on the agenda.

@4: And being a lefty means believing that evil cops go round just looking for any black kid who “ain’t done nuffin” – just itching to get off a couple of shots because nothing is better than submitting oneself to the media frenzy enjoyed by Darren Wilson and others.
A black officer died, by all accounts heroically, in a gunfight with a couple of gentle giants in Philly a few days back. This evil cop had stopped to purchase a game for his son – a reward for good grades.
Honest to Gaia, I cannot figure out why any cop, white, black, other, would bother to make any effort at policing in these “communities” seeing as how they cannot win. As the computer in War Games figured out, sometimes the best option is not to play.
Of course, if the coppers decide not to play, there will be a lot of innocents injured and killed and then the coppers will be in deep spinach over that.

Actually, cops can get in “deep spinach” (fired, sued, prosecuted) for brutality, excessive force, assault, or for violating the criminal’s civil rights. (The decision as to what constitutes “excessive force” is made by judges and jurors who were safe at home while the cop was being forced to make a life-or-death decision in a split second.)
But, under every relevant court ruling (Riss vs. New York, Warren vs. District of Columbia, Castle Rock vs. Gonzalez), cops cannot be sued or prosecuted for failure to prevent a crime, failure to protect a citizen, or failure to arrest a criminal.
What that means is, if Darren Wilson had decided “not to play,” (e.g., if he’d been taking an eight-hour coffee break in a doughnut shop instead of trying to do his job), then he could have saved himself a lot of grief. And I’m sure a lot of cops in this country are thinking the same thing by now..

Clearly our esteemed president has never purchased a gun.

And then residents of minority communities wonder why police response is so slow in their communities.
Interesting that no one wants to talk about the lack of minority people casting votes in Ferguson. Or the fact that some white R candidates run unopposed. Or the fact that very few minority people even apply for openings on the police force.

Holder has “found” that the cops (mainly white) of Ferguson are using tickets and fines given to black citizens as a major source of police department revenue. Ergo: racism.
If you have an area of town where a great deal of the policing problems arise does it make sense for the policing authority to try to keep the policing problem incidents at the least harmful level? It is very likely that a disproportionate number of calls come from the problem area.
The “victims” of closely watched neighborhoods are always quick to assert that the same stuff is going on and being ignored in the parts of town where the real estate prices are higher and lawns grow blue home security signs.
Holder and his posse have also narrowed in on the disproportionate rate of suspension from school among black teen-aged males. The simplest answer is racism. The clearest basic question is “why.” But, if you pursue that thread, you may come to the “fact” of cultural rot and corruptus in extremis. Policing the rot is not the cause of rot. Nor is it the cure. We hire custodians to guard the peace. But at the same time, we make a circus of how we establish a moral climate. Ignorant people are always swift in condemning what they claim is the external cause of the faults that lie within themselves.
