The Left: Opposing a Nuclear-Armed Iran Is “Traitorous”

The Obama Administration, their lefty cult of mindless drones have decided that Republicans who openly oppose Obama’s plan to sideline Congress in order to cut a deal to allow Iran to develop nukes without the threat of sanctions or military intervention are “traitors.” Loudmouth Democrat Maniac Howard Dean called it “Treason.” And Hillary Clinton took time out of her press conference to bash Republicans as un-American for “expressly (undercutting) a sitting president in the midst of sensitive international negotiations.”

Seems like the left was singing a different tune a few years ago.

“I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you’re not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we’re Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration.”

Remember that? Who said that?

  1. Typical. Scratch a “liberal,” and you’ll find a screeching fascist underneath.

Hopefully, somebody is taking note of all the twerps who have latched onto the #47Traitors hashtag, so we know exactly who to give a one-way ticket to.

  2. Yes, Hillary said that, but she is the smartest woman in the world and you have taken her words out of context as they were aimed at George III in order to stiffen the resolve of Tom Jefferson who was having second thoughts.

Remember, this is the woman who wrote the Magna Carta and graded the papers during the enlightenment.

  3. The GOP Senators have indulged in a much needed bully pulpit of their own, with this action, which technically does go against the Logan Act. However; the list of violations against the Constitution by the Obama Administration is extensive.

We know the details of the work-in-progress agreement with Iran & they are unacceptable.

The two negotiating parties, the US & Iran are not equal & we should be negotiating from a position of strength. We’re not.

The alternative, bombing Iran’s nuclear sites would actually be a sustainable action to keep their ambitions suppressed.

As the letter demonstrates, the Legislative Br & Administrative branches of govt are coequal, so Dean can scream treason all he pleases. He knows better.

Obama poisoned the waters from the beginning of the year with the new Congress. This is only March & this is the second major humiliation that the Democrats’ president is having to endure. Rightfully so. I predict, more to come as the Constitution allows many variants & actions for a US Congress to audit & punish an Administration.

  4. We need to stand up and say we’re Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration.”

Yes, in the Well of the House and of the Senate, and in the domestic Press. But my own opinion is that it was stupid to address an open letter of that nature to a Foreign Power, friend or foe. Just plain STUPID…, and inept.

  5. Since when is it traitorous to remind Iran that it is not the President but the SENATE which must approve all treaties? Since when is following the Constitution a matter of treason?

I would think negotiating with an enemy state that has not surrendered would be closer to treason, wouldn’t you?

  6. The left wants open borders in the US but sealed borders in Israel, no nuke power in the US but nukes for Iran.

Jessie Jackson figured out how to stop white flight, make it illegal for whites to leave. But if whites don’t leave white areas no one else could come in.

  7. The Logan Act is being repeatedly mentioned. There has only been a single indictment under the Logan Act (1803) and that didn’t go particularly well. Its constitutionality has been questioned and in 1975 re. Sens. McGovern and Sparkman, the US State Dept. concluded:

The clear intent of this provision [Logan Act] is to prohibit unauthorized persons from intervening in disputes between the United States and foreign governments. Nothing in section 953 [Logan Act], however, would appear to restrict members of the Congress from engaging in discussions with foreign officials in pursuance of their legislative duties under the Constitution.

Also, there is nothing in this ‘controversial’ senatorial letter that deals with specific policy differences with the Obama administration. There is absolutely nothing about this letter that is at all out-of-step with Congressional responsibility or precedent, either in terms of protocol or diplomacy with a foreign nation.
Rand Paul nailed it: “The letter should’ve been cc’d to the White House.” He understands that the letter wasn’t really directed at Iran but at the Obama administration and to future Republican voters.

  9. The Democrats seem to forget that time Kerry cozied up to the Sandinistas. Or all the other times Democrats played buddy-buddy with dictators and murderers. And know the Republicans tell Iran to pound sand, and they throw a fit?

It’s clear that Obama was never going to let this go before Congress for approval, so what other way did the Republicans have to give meaningful opposition to Obama’s “agreement”?
