It’s Just a Bad Movie, Get Over It

March 28, 2015 by V the K

To the neurotically hypersensitive and perpetually indignant people who now determine what is offensive, it is now “homophobic” to suggest that straight men have no interest in performing oral sex on other men.

Get Hard, a comedy starring Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart and released in UK cinemas on Saturday, follows a disgraced investment banker who is headed to prison in 30 days and enlists the help of a car-washer to help him prepare. What follows is 90 minutes of farcical comedy, built mainly around Ferrell’s fear of being raped while in prison and a general disgust at the concept of gay sex.

LGBT charity Stonewall also condemned the content in films such as Get Hard as damaging. “Homophobic, biphobic and transphobic language is endemic in Britain, particularly within our schools,” it said in a statement. “This kind of ‘banter’ that people see in Hollywood films and on-screen perpetuates the idea that this kind of language is acceptable.”

The scene that seems to have their panties in a wad is one in which Will Ferrell is compelled to perform oral sex in a glory-hole scenario and is revolted by the prospect; which I guess is hateful to gay people. Although it is what we in the real world would call ‘normal.’

I am sure the movie is awful, but it’s kind of funny how Christians are expected to put up with constant and direct attacks from Hollywood, but gays are supposed to be outraged at anything other than a celebratory portrayal.

Frankly, all this whining makes gays look like a bunch of pansies.

I’m more outraged that the terrible Will Ferrell is still making movies.

What disgusts me is the large amount of actual misogyny that exists in the gay community. And for them to call straights who get the icks when they think of gay sex “homophobic”…I’m sorry, but take the log out of your own eye first.

Given Will Farrell’s moonbat liberalism, I find this a fine case of eating their own.

Just like I love watching liberals who brag about discriminating against conservatives being terrorized by their own little Frankenstein monsters.

I think it’s interesting to note the post-facto reaction in the context of controversy surrounding The Dilemma trailer. It seems that the marketing team may have learned a lesson and kept its more un-PC jokes under the radar. But, then, I wonder how much negative attention gives or takes away from the net-positive promotion of movies.

I remember in the early 90s, there was a great deal of protests targeting Silence of the Lambs and Basic Instinct for negative portrayals of gay characters, however misguided those campaigns were (it’s arguable that Buffalo Bill was gay; and, even if he was, you had the heterosexual sociopath Hannibal Lector to counterbalance him; and, likewise, while it’s understood who the serial killer was in Instinct, it’s never really truly revealed). But, in both instances, they seemed to do little specifically to curtailing the success of those films. Perhaps Hollywood reacted after that with less depictions of “gay” serial killers. I don’t really remember.

At the end of the day, these protests attempt to raise awareness, but I’m not sure of their effectiveness overall. Both The Dilemma and Get Hard were poorly reviewed Hollywood comedies which catered to the lowest common denominator in humor. People attracted to that kind of humor are likely not going to pay attention to the protests. And, even if they did, they’re either intelligent enough to view the jokes in their proper context, or they’re not. There doesn’t seem to be much fertile ground in between to exploit. My only conclusion is this is mostly an attempt for a group to feed their own self-righteousness and draw attention to themselves.

Ask a Nelly queen to perform oral sex on a woman and see what kind of a response you get.. Interesting how liberal America thinks male rape is funny. Interesting how liberals think a woman kicking a man in the balls is funny.

All this confirms my theory.. Leftists are all stuck in middle school.

@ TnnsNe1: The only movie I’ve seen where a man hitting a woman was treated with the same humor as the reverse was one where the main character punched Sarah Silverman in the face after her character went on a long-winded, profanity-laden, and unwarranted tirade against the main character. It was an enormously gratifying scene.

Alrightythen, let’s visit the psychological sexuality complexes: the Oedipus/Electra complex; the Antigone Complex; the Jocasta Complex; the Griselda Complex; the Medea Complex; the Orestes Complex; the Cain Complex; the Ego Complex; the Father Complex; the Mother Complex; the Don Juan Complex; the Celopatra complex; the Napoleon Complex; the Lolita Complex; the Inferiority Complex; the Adonis Complex; the God Complex; the Cassandra Complex; the Hero Complex; the Martyr Complex; the Persecution Complex; the Indecisiveness Complex; the Dependence on the Opinion of Others Complex; the Castration Complex; the Virility Complex; the Excellent Student Complex; the Non-Love to One-Self Complex; the Loneliness Complex; the Oppressed Libido Complex; the Guilt Complex; the Incapacity to Say “No” Complex; the Jonah Complex; the Superiority Complex; and more.

Get it? A gay is a human subject to all manner of psychological complexes in the same way and manner a straight is a human subject to all manner of psychological complexes.

However, the gay “victim” is likely to feel that the ordinary, bread and butter psychological complexes are in some manner associated with his gay “victim” status.

Hollywood has an enormous pool of psychological complexes to shower on its characters. Oral sex between the unwilling is a fairly basic public square taboo. It has nothing to do with those who are willing to engage in oral sex.

For any gay to “read” some sort of stereotyped hatred or “victimization” into it is, frankly, a revaluation of the gay’s own sexuality problems.

To base a movie on a taboo is an over-obvious attempt to get big box office over the old pratfall of floating a turd in the punch bowl. This in Caddyshack stuff.

Hollywood can make films about the struggle to be virtuous or it can go the cheap-shot route and pump up the volume on the vices. Think of what Hollywood could do making a movie about ISIS dividing up the Yazidi girls and raping and enslaving and torturing and slaughtering and just going full Quentin Tarantino on depravity. This Will Ferrell attempt is like topless powderpuff football played by women who have had double mastectomies. But to get riled up over it is to give Hollyweird a whole lot more credit for being part of the fine arts than it has ever deserved.

The left also seems to forget that rape (any form) is not about sex.. It is about power.

    It’s always interesting to note:

When portraying minorities of all kinds, films and TV shows are ALWAYS considered role models for behavior etc. and need to be taken seriously as TV and movies and DEFINITELY influence culture and behavior. Movie/TV producers are placed on notice.

When portraying white males or Christians of all kinds, films and TV shows are ALWAYS considered as ENTERTAINMENT ONLY for behavior etc. and should NOT be taken seriously as TV and movies and in NO WAY influence culture and behavior. Movie/TV viewers are told to “lighten up” or “change the channel” or just not watch if you are THAT backwards and bigoted.

The real rape culture is in prison and a blind eye is turned by those in authority and joke about by those who don’t have to face it, but because it’s men raping men it doesn’t get much attention.

I am kind of appalled by the concept of a movie that involves getting prepared for prison rape (I assume the getting prepared for prison bit wasn’t just wrt sexual assault).

I think getting upset that straight men find oral sex with other men gross is silly. There are straight women who don’t really like oral sex and I’m willing to bet there are a great many gay men who think oral sex with a woman is disgusting.

There’s probably a good reason straight men aren’t turned on by oral sex with other men and that key word is probably that they’re straight. Straight men get turned on by sexual acts with women and gay men get turned on by sex with gay men. No reason to get your panties in a war if a straight man doesn’t get turned on by the same things you do.

Am I the only one who’s noticed that movies can’t be “just bad” anymore? It’s like every movie that flops is not bad just because of some sort of artistic failure, but because it has also committed some transgression against the social mores du jour.

Having gays be outspoken opponents of the movie probably helps it more than it hurts. There are a lot of aspects of gay life that queens would cry about if shown on movies like DC & Miami gay bars having guys snort cocaine off the bar counter. They sure wouldn’t want to do a movie about Matt Shepard meth dealer killed by his ex boy friend or one about these ghttp://www.gaystarnews.com/article/convicted-gay-killers-are-first-couple-marry-uk-prison280315 uys
