Protecting Delicate Victorian Feminists from the Trauma of Salary Negotiations

According to modern Feminist theory, women are emotionally fragile and delicate creatures who must be treated like children and protected from the harsh realities of life. They tend to be overcome with “the vapors” when exposed to strange, new ideas, and must therefore be sent to “safe spaces” — equipped with Play-Doh, and crayons, and teddy bears — to recover when hearing a politically incorrect opinion leaves them faint.

In this spirit, the new female, minority chairhead of Reddit has decided that since women are too fragile to compete in the business world at the level of men… all salary negotiations will be banned going forward.

As Reddit’s interim CEO, Pao said she wants to eliminate salary negotiations from the company’s hiring process.

In her first interview since the lawsuit, Pao told with the Wall Street Journal Monday that the plan would help level the playing field.

“Men negotiate harder than women do and sometimes women get penalized when they do negotiate,” she said. “So as part of our recruiting process we don’t negotiate with candidates. We come up with an offer that we think is fair. If you want more equity, we’ll let you swap a little bit of your cash salary for equity, but we aren’t going to reward people who are better negotiators with more compensation.”

An interesting side effect of this is that it puts all the power on the side of the employer. Instead of negotiating a better deal for one’s skills, the employee is stuck with a one-size-fits-all salary, with only the choice of taking it or leaving it. (A lot of “progressive” policies seem to have the side effect of concentrating power in the hands of authoritarian.)

And here’s something interesting. The Reddit Chairhead filed a sexual discrimination complaint against a previous employer … and lost.

Last Friday, a jury decided that the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers did not discriminate or retaliate against Pao in a case that debated gender imbalance and working conditions for women in Silicon Valley.

Just putting that out there.

Angie’s List’s Sanctimony Is a Cover for Frustrated Cronyism

When the on-line company Angie’s List backed out of a deal to expand its headquarters in Indianapolis, company executives were quick to claim that it was their moral duty not to expand in a state that so intolerantly decided to protect the rights of people of faith to conduct their lives in accordance with their faith.

Angie’s List CEO Bill Oesterle said his firm will pull out of a pending deal with the state and city to expand its headquarters in Indianapolis because of his disagreement with the state’s passage of the “religious freedom” law.

“We’re going to be very vocal on this issue and I don’t feel we can do that if we are taking state money,” Oesterle said Saturday in an interview with The Indianapolis Star. “We don’t want to be bound by commitments in that deal given the current atmosphere in the state (government).”

And for that, the trained seals of the left applauded them for showing… what do they call it? Good corporate citizenship? Moral leadership?

But the truth is, the city and state had already begun questioning the millions of dollars in subsidies Angie’s List was demanding. And the city council was preparing to vote down the subsidies Angie’s List had demanded. And the real reason Angie’s List wanted to suspend the project had nothing to do with protecting gay people from hurt feelings, and everything to do with not getting their corporate expansion fully subsidized by the taxpayers of Indiana.

Perhaps the most glaring is the fact that in its 20-year history, Angie’s List has never turned a profit. In addition, the company’s stock has plummeted from its initial public offering of $15.80 to this week’s $5.14 per share.

While Angie’s List tempts and teases with the promise of expansion, including adding 1,000 new jobs and relocating 800 of its current employees; we can’t forget the company’s massive layoff just last year.

The proposal currently states the city would designate $2 million on streets and other infrastructure work with the remaining $16.3 million going toward building a garage for employees and relocating an Indianapolis Public Schools’ warehouse from the former Ford assembly plant. But the city wouldn’t be alone in its giving. The state would provide $6.5 million in tax credits and $500,000 in training grants.

Thanks, John in Indy, for pretty much writing the story.

Mohammedan Cab Driver Assaults Gay Men

Not expecting the progressive left to make a big deal about this. Bashing Christians is easy because of that “turn the other cheek” stuff. The left is far less willing to confront violent Mohammedans… all the while insisting that it’s a racist stereotype to depict Mohammedans as potentially violent and unreasonable people.

A taxi driver contacted through an Uber app has been arrested for allegedly kicking two gay men out of his car last week when they kissed, according to Chicago police.

Mahdi Hared, of the 6500 block of South Sacramento Avenue, was charged with one count of aggravated assault/use of a deadly weapon and battery, both misdemeanors, police said.

Isn’t it strange how the article plays up the involvement of Uber in this? The name “Uber” appears five times in the article. The name of the homophobic cabbie appears only three times? All they did was supply the app that connected the driver to the gay dudes. It’s like blaming Grindr if you hook up with a guy and get an STD.

Oh, wait…

Insanity Is Just Another Day

While left-wing American gays were wailing and gnashing their teeth and concocting ridiculous conspiracy theories because  the owners of a Mom-and-Pop pizza restaurant said they would prefer not to be forced by the State into participating in a gay wedding ceremony… the “not at all Islamic” (according to the President) Mohammedans of the Islamic State stoned another gay man to death. Meanwhile, left-wing American gays cheered for the president’s plan to allow radical Mohammedans to acquire nuclear weapons.

Seems like insanity to me, but there you have it.

But while the president hasn’t criticized ISIS or his Iranian comrades for their murders of gays, he did take the occasion of Easter to make snide remarks about Christians who don’t support his or the Gay Agenda enough.

ISIS terrorists have also raped and impregnated a nine-year old girl, but considering the founder of their religion did the same thing… Anyway, American feminists weren’t upset about that; nowhere near as upset as they were when that rocket scientist wore a Hawaiian shirt that depicted attractive women.

It amazes me that full-on barbarians like ISIS are allowed to exist when there is clearly enough firepower among the civilized nations to exterminate them.

Instead, the savages of ISIS are apparently more welcome on American college campuses than representatives of the pro-gay, pro-women, democratic state of Israel.

Meanwhile, one of the peaceful, totes patriotic “New Americans” the Democrats are so eager to welcome to this country with Amnesty, welfare, and jobs and educational opportunities stolen from native-born Americans… had this to say about her adopted country.

“I will never forget it. May god bless those who helped my son. The terrorists are the Americans and everyone knows it. My son is the best of the best.”

Her son set off a bomb at the Boston Marathon that killed an eight-year-old boy and two other people.
