Communications obtained through a public records request show employees of the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries—which pursued the case against the Kleins—participating in phone calls, texting, and attending meetings with Basic Rights Oregon, the largest LGBT advocacy group in the state.
Gee, it seems like there’s a word for when the state colludes with a group of people to deprive another group of their rights and property. I can’t think of it right now, but I know that word exists.
But, good news, the SCOTUS has ruled that there is one religion whose members do not have to give up their rights when they engage in commerce. Three guesses which religion that is.
Sounds like grounds for a lawsuit. Problem is a lot of lawyers won’t touch gay issues out of fear of the gay rights folks.
Personally, I think this couple wasn’t looking for someone to bake a cake, but rather looking for someone who would not bake their cake.
I’m not sure about these bakers but the Christian couple in NY that refused to have the wedding on their farm but said they would host the reception was deliberately targeted by the gay left to file a lawsuit.
Tyranny? Fascism? It’s easier and closer than you’d think. I’m thinking that human beings have a natural desire to be ruled and to have rulers ready and willing to punish “the other”. Most people can’t imagine a life without someone to hate. (I have a dim view of human nature.)
The Constitution is an amazing document and lays out a government as close to perfect as is possible. And there’s no way it could be written today.
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” – John Adams
People will quibble about the “religious” part but I take it to mean “virtuous”: people willing to assume responsibility, exercise self-restraint, and think of others now and then.
John Derbyshire wrote a column some years ago called “Unpleasant Truths”. Once of the truths is that Ronald Reagan could not be elected today… I doubt he could get the nomination.

(I’m a bit surprised that NRO hasn’t pushed this down the memory hole!!!)
What I find horrible is that the recommendation was 135k for the couple because of their mental anguish, and yet they produced no evidence by way of mental health experts or even mental health appointments to back up they were harmed, and yet they still got a judgment for that amount. That is ridiculous.
