I don’t embrace the Donald Trump phenomenon. But if I were part of the GOP, I would be looking at the enthusiasm of his supporters and wondering why my preferred candidates don’t get that kind of energy. I would be carefully studying his messaging and techniques to see if I could learn something from them that might improve my candidates electoral prospects.
I guess that’s why I’m just a moron in flyover country instead a wealthy Republican consultant. Because obviously the thing to do with the Trump phenomenon is attack his supporters as ignorant hick rubes who are also idiots.
Trump may not currently represent my political position, but I admire his ability to systemically remove the DNC/GOPe/libertarian open borders advocates from contention.
OMG, are these people idiots ?? (…don’t answer that.)
Pogo was right. “We have met the enemy, and they are us.”
Somehow I’m reminded of the “Questions” from Babylon-Five; pPerhaps these questions explain the popular Middle-class American appeal of Trump on the Right and Sanders on the Left.
Who are you? (The Vorlon Question)
What do you want? (The Shadow Question)
Why are you here? (Emperor Turhan’s Question)
Where are you going? (Techno Mage’s Question)
Do you have anything worth living for? (Lorien’s Question)
And Whom do you trust? (Galen’s Question)
The fact leftists are coming to the defense of cuckservatives tells you all you need to know about them.
The establishment Republicans insulting the Trump supporters is just another indication that the two “party” system is a sham. The differences between the establishment Republicans and the establishment Democrats is very small.
These consultants are probably right about one thing: Trump will flame out. The real problem these paid-geniuses will need to solve is how to get the base to bother with voting. Their track failure shows that, aside from lining their pockets, they will fail.
In 2012, Romney failed to turn out a substantial portion of the GOP base (white, working-class people) – that figured (correctly, maybe?) that it really didn’t make a lot of difference seeing as how the 2010 GOP takeover of the House didn’t make a hill of beans.
Now we’ve seen that the national GOP is useless even when they have both houses of Congress. Add to that the idiocy surrounding the immigration issue (which, as Trump is showing, IS AN ISSUE with the folks), there’s a good bet that if Jeb! gets the nomination, the base will, once again, find something better to do.
On a related note, I saw an item stating that Germany would see 750,000 new “asylum seekers” this year (on top of 350,000+ last year).
The population of Germany is 80 million so these are substantial fractions. The more resistance the German people put up, the more their rulers dump on them. Ditto for all the EU countries (even Greece – 150,000 so far this year).
This is madness. It would take a lot to convince me that this is not a deliberate effort to destroy the west as we know it. It sucks for the little people but someone is making out like a bandit.
The left calls anyone that questions third-world invasion a bigot. Well, there are a billion people in Africa, many of whom would like to head to Europe (and the US/Canada). There are close to 300 million people in Mexico and Central America… How many is enough?
“numbers are of the essence” – Enoch Powell
I cast ballots for President beginning in 1964 and in every election since. In every case, I was “presented” with the choice of candidates and I had to choose one of them. In reviewing each one, I am somewhat at a loss to list a great positive for each Presidency. (Negatives=easy.)
Johnson=nothing; Nixon=ended the rotten war; Ford=nothing; Carter=nothing; Reagan=got the economy going again; Bush 41=nothing; Clinton=nothing; Bush 43=nothing; Obama=nothing.
Now I look at the mess we are in I find it difficult to list in order of priority what I think needs to be positively addressed, but the list includes: the economy, the national debt and deficit, radical Islam/terrorism, immigration law enforcement, entitlements, the tax code.
What are the chances of any candidate hitting home runs in each of these areas of concern? What are the chances of any candidate hitting a home run in just one of these concerns.
Which brings me to Donald Trump. He is neither a “suitable” Republican nor a “suitable” conservative for the litmus test crowd. He may even have a nasty liberal streak or two. He is certainly as thin skinned and narcissistic as Obama. But he is a bragging, tenacious, bullying magnate who gets what he goes after and gets the job done.
Now, just suppose that come November of 2016 Trump is the Republican on the ballot against anyone the DemonizingRats put up. I will vote for Trump as many times as possible. I will will have my fingers crossed and hope that what President Trump gives away to get the DemonizingRats to go along with him will be clearly worth the compromise. (Bush 43 gave Teddy Kennedy a crock of socialist education crapola for nothing in return.)
There are 15 other Republican wannabe’s. Of those, I would most like to see Ben Carson rise to do battle with the entrenched establishment in both professional politician political party sewers. But that is me wanting to show the Obama racists that an honest and decent black man can exist and excel. And, I would trust Carson to be a quick learner who knows how to separate the experts and expertise from the power brokers and the political strategy.
The DemonizingRats are held captive by the aging hippy crowd of Vietnam War Era socialists. That crowd is almost all in the Medicare program and comfortably addicted to no cost medical care. (I am 73.) But, they are all headed toward the final breath and within a 20 year cycle, they will have been so diminished in numbers that their influence will be minimal. Perhaps the DemonizingRats can reform and reinvent themselves. But their established pattern of playing nanny state to their captive victims has more or less set them in a tough mold to break.
The Republicans, on the other hand, can grow a set and start to fight back with the same vigor and tenacity the DemonizingRats have used to marginalize the Republicans.
If Trump were to start calling Democrats stupid and crazy for not owning up to ISIS and baby parts for sale and endless illegal immigrants and strangling the economy, etc. I would be cheering all the way.
You may have noticed that for all its faults, FoxNews has no competition. You may have noticed that the John Stewart wing has never successfully toppled conservative talk radio. You may have noticed that the meek do not inherit the bully pulpit.
I am past ready for a John L. Sullivan to stand in the ring with his bare knuckles and write his name in the air and then take the other guy out. I will not be particularly surprised if Trump takes the crown.
