A “career naval officer, former White House fellow and doctoral candidate in law and policy at Northeastern University” has come up with the solution to all of America’s racial problems; make black votes count more than white votes.
A five-thirds compromise would imbue African Americans with a larger political voice that could be used to fight the structural discrimination expressed in housing, education, criminal justice and employment. Allowing black votes to count for 167 percent of everyone else’s would mean that 30 million African American votes would count as 50 million, substituting super-votes for the implausible idea of cash payments.
By strange coincidence, this scheme would advance the Democrat Party. Had this scheme been in place in 2014, the Democrats would have picked up 6 senate seats and seven house seats.
This almost raises the suspicion that all of #BlackLivesMatter, and indeed, all of the social justice agenda is just a scheme to advance one-party totalitarian socialism.
Better idea: If you work and pay taxes, or if you worked for a reasonable number of years before retiring, you get two votes. If, in addition to the above, you served honorably in the military, you get three votes. And if you are a welfare recipient, you only get one vote. All of that without regard for race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, or national origin.
But the SJW’s would consider that to be “structural discrimination,” because it involves a benefit or privilege that could be earned, instead of a something-for-nothing handout.
Wow I’m surprised this goes on at Northeastern University. The school was more known for their career degrees than this PC nonsense.
While I like Tom’s idea (#1), I also have a proposal: 5/3 of a vote to any living slaves. Based on the way people like Booker T. Washington and Dr. George W Carver succeeded (to the benefit of all Americans), one generation of that kind of compensation should be enough.
#blacklivesmatter probably started out well-intended, but then got hijacked along the way.
People seem to not notice that to accomplish this, you would have to do away with secret voting. Your personal vote would have to be recorded to make sure the proper ones were amplified.
That would make it so much easier to round up all those wrong-thinking types.
Just when you believe people cannot possibly be more stupid we hear about this ‘doctoral candidate’ who some day will be in a position to advance his illogical and totally illegal proposal that one person get more than one vote. It may get this ‘genius’ headlines along with Northeastern but if my kid wanted to attend this university I would cut off his purse strings for tuition. I am beginning to think mail order diplomas is the way to go when supposed institutions of higher learning allow this crap to advance post graduate studies.
