People used to think I was being hyperbolic when I spoke of ‘the Fascist Left.’ I was not. The bullies at the University of Missouri have not only succeeded in removing the President and the Chancellor for being insufficiently radical, they have also blocked the press from speaking to the protesters. The reason for this should be fairly obvious; every time the public is exposed to the real hatred and radicalism that underlies the #BlackLivesMatter movement, they lose support. They cannot control their members, so they attempt to control access to them.
During the angry protests at the University of Missouri (“The President is insufficiently anti-racist, and this hurts our FEELINGS!”) a professor of mass media communication named Melissa Click threatened a student reporter for trying to cover the protest. The Daily Caller has dug a little bit into Professor Click’s background.
Her biography at the University of Missouri’s website describes her as an assistant professor with a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Her research interests center on popular culture texts and audiences, particularly texts and audiences disdained in mainstream culture.
On Facebook, Click’s likes include Bitch Media, Everyday Feminism, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Indiana and Kentucky, MU LGBTQ Resource Center, MU Department of Black Studies, NPR and The New York Times.
Her current research includes studying readers of the tour de smut 50 [sic] Shades of Grey. She also studies Lady Gaga. The last time Click was published in any serious academic publication was in 2013. The topic was Lady Gaga.
Aside from the whole fascism aspect, the fact that publishing papers about Lady Gaga is considered a sound academic pursuit goes a long way toward explaining why people increasingly feel that higher education is a waste of time and money.
