By not electing the lecherous creep David Vitter to Governor of Louisiana, Republicans demonstrated that they, at least, will not elect a bad man to higher office just for the sake of clinging to power.
Now, for some contrast:
- California Democrat Gavin Newsom, who had an extra-marital affair with the wife of one of his aides, is strongly favored to win his party’s nomination for Governor and hence the Governor’s office in that one-party state.
- Massachusetts Democrat Ted Kennedy, re-elected to office six times despite being complicit in the death of one of his aides and sexually assaulting a waitress at La Brasserie restaurant with fellow (also multiply-re-elected) Democrat creep, Chris Dodd of Massachusetts
- Massachusetts Democrat Gerry Studds, re-elected nine times after admitting that he molested a 16-year-old Congressional page.
- Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank, allowed a boy-toy to run a prostitution business from his condo, fixed his boy-toy’s parking tickets, and later had an undisclosed relationship with an executive in a government eneterprise his committee was in charge of regulating. Also, re-elected.
- Bill Clinton, perpetrator of sexual assault on Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey; hero and scion of the Democrat Party.
Who will announce candidacy for Senator, Bobby Jindal? That senate seat must be preserved at all cost.
I’m surprised Maness didn’t try making a run for Governor.
Good news there is one group in NYC willing to honestly protect citizens from moslems, the mob. To bad Rotherham UK didn’t have such.

When it comes to dalliances, there are plenty of claims to shame to go around in both parties.
Don’t forget Joe Ganim (D), the mayor of Waterbury, CT, who was recently reelected after serving several years in prison for felony corruption and racketeering charges committed during his last term as mayor.
Whoops, that should be Bridgeport, CT, not Waterbury.
What I want to know is, how did this guy become the GOP gubernatorial nominee anyway?
William Langer, Jim Gibbons, Scott Desjarlais …
I’m sure the following people on this list did no wrong, and if they did, they weren’t reelected:

ouch, did you have to cite so many from MA??? ashamed to say I live here but that’s not how I vote!!!!
V the K:
Haven’t you gotten the memo? Democrats are angels and Republicans are the devil. Democratic rape is OK, but Republican adultery is a much more serious crime.
What you have is a exercise in stupid sanctimony. David Vitter was a flawed candidate and ran a flawed campaign. What the people of Louisiana forgot is when we needed defending against stupid laws, He was there our rusty knight. Now we have a guber who will be a rubber stamp for the progressives on everything except sex. He has already promised to expand Medicare and raise the state minimum wage. Because some people were so obsessed with paying for sex, we are all screwed, and we won’t get paid for it. As for him being our candidate, the rest of the primary candidates were fake conservatives. Pray for us, we will need it!
@7 – Craig, Louisiana has an “open primary” where everyone is on the same ballot. If no one wins a majority then the two largest vote winners are placed on the runoff ballot.

It reached its apotheosis when Obama managed to scandalize a Republican opponent for having sex with his own wife.
Haven’t you gotten the memo? Only Democrats are allowed to have non-traditional sexual activity, even if it’s with their own wife.
To expound on that a bit, it essentially splits the vote, not only among one party but among all parties. It’s like in my state when 4-6 people file to run against the Republican candidate that few want to see elected (or reelected). It basically ensures that the unwanted candidate will win, even if they do so with what would be a minority of the vote in a two-person race.
It’s also worth noting that Louisiana has a plurality law, so that candidates must go above and beyond the “one more vote than the other guy” rule that works in other states.
Also in this election, one of the sore losers on the Republican side endorsed the eventual Democratic winner, with the margin of victory on the Democratic side about equalling the addition of votes garnered by the sore loser.
So, this was not unlike the 2008 Presidential election, where the alleged adulterer [though in this case, proven and admitted] ran against the New-Day/Hope-And-Change guy. Much like America in 2010, we’ll check back with LA in 2017 and see how that’s working out for them.
