Obama’s Sanctimony Making Life Harder for Gays in other Countries

The Obama Administration has an uncanny knack for making everything they touch worse. For the domestic political advantage of gaining money from LGBT’s in the United States, the Obama Administration has made gay rights the primary focus of its foreign policy. The result of their meddling and public hectoring has been a push-back in the form of new anti-gay laws around the world.

Anti-gay sentiments are widespread across Africa. Same-sex relations remain illegal in most nations, the legacy of colonial laws that had been largely forgotten until the West’s push to repeal them in recent years.

Fierce opposition has come from African governments and private organizations, which accuse the United States of cultural imperialism. Pressing gay rights on an unwilling continent, they say, is the latest attempt by Western nations to impose their values on Africa.

“In the same way that we don’t try to impose our culture on anyone, we also expect that people should respect our culture in return,” said Theresa Okafor, a Nigerian active in lobbying against gay rights.

Americans really don’t care for having a Government forcing its moral viewpoint down their throats. Other countries don’t much care for it either. But at least American liberals get to sanctimoniously praise themselves for all the awareness they’re raising.

Also, Islamic countries like Iran are spared Obama’s lectures on gay rights because… well, you figure that one out.
