The Gift of the Magi – Progressive Version

December 24, 2015 by V the K

A single mother in what was once Great Britain did porn in order to buy Christmas presents for her son.

Megan Clara spent the last year starring in porn movies so she could afford everything on her 5-year-old son Ashton’s Christmas list. The 20-year-old UK resident says she was devastated last holiday season when Ashton complained he didn’t have the same expensive presents as his friends.

“Ashton has wanted a bike for over three years and I’ve finally been able to make his dream come true. It’s an amazing feeling. The only downside is that he now bribes me into buying him toys for being well-behaved,” she said.

There is so much ruin in this story I don’t know where to begin. Commercialized sex – check. Empty materialism – check. Passing on those values to the next generation – check. Defending all of these bad choices – check.

No mention of a father…or even “uncles”.

As Christianity was taking hold in Europe, it decided to subsume existing pagan holidays which were important to the population, renaming the & giving them a different context. However; the holidays & the main winter festival remained what it was basically. A much needed respite for winter flogged people needing to celebrate something, anything. It’s a party, Christmas is; & a lot of people will go into debt & do literally anything for the one day fix. Apparently, that includes prostitution. People don’t become whores overnight. I would imagine this girlie was inclined or otherwise already a tart & it’s another age old drama; trying to raise a whore’s get.

Coddling a spoiled bastard wouldn’t be the only mistake the child is making in trying to raise her mistake.

It’s good to always be positive. Merry Christmas.

if it took her 3 years to save up for a bike, she is either really, really stupid or she he really, really bad at her job.

Guess a used bike in good condition isn’t good enough for little Ashy-poo. My first two wheeler was a used bike because my parents couldn’t afford a new one. Dad was a newly minted Major in the Marine Corps in the 50s (when military pay was really the pits). I loved that bike because I saw past the condition and saw the freedom it afforded me. For the first time I could power myself to wherever I wanted to go.

I never had a new bike in my life…or for that a new car.

When I was a kid in the 1960s and 1970s, I typically had a bike that we got at the farmers’ market outdoor flea market, usually for $10 or $20 each. The nice thing was that even though we had 5 kids in the family, we usually had 10-12 bikes at any-given-time of different types — depending on what you needed and where you were going; trail biking in the woods, a cruise across town on paved streets, bopping around the yards in the neighborhood. Stingrays with banana-seats and high-handlebars, three-speed English tourers, 10-speeds, we even had a delivery-bike with a metal box and and a two-wheel-axle on the front for going to the store. If friends walked-over and we wanted to ride somewhere, just grab a bike from the rack. The best was the one was a five-speed tourer with the rickshaw-attached as a passenger trailer, those lower-gears cab in handy on hills.

In those days we didn’t need bike-locks, What a depraved concept… Who would steal someone else’s bicycle??

The sad thing is there are plenty of people stateside who will read this and also shake their head in disbelief without realizing they are also prostituting themselves for (as the Brits say) a Happy Christmas. Except their pimp is a bank or other lender to whom they go into debt to have that illusive perfect holiday.

Oh for a financial institution that would offer and promote once again Christmas Club accounts.

Check out your local credit union.

Oh, my credit union offers Christmas Club accounts (or did, last time I checked), but they sure as hell don’t promote them. No, the electronic signboards and other advertising promote their various loan products and the accompanying low interest rates.

Of course, debt products is where they make their bank. At one point during the Obama recession, they stopped issuing CD products with terms of a year or longer simply because they cost more to service than they could loan out the money for.

She chose to do a job, got paid for it, and spent the money how she pleased. Am I the only person here who sees this as a victory for free enterprise?

He is 5 now. For previous Christmas it took 3 years to save for a bike. That means he was demanding a bike at 1. Not likely. She is a liar. She became a hooker (on camera) because she wants the bling and has no useful skills. She is rationalizing that it is for her baby so she can live with what she has become.
