The National Transportation Safety Board wants to decrease the legal driving limit to one drink, lowering the legal limit on blood-alcohol content to 0.05 “or even lower.”
They admit, at one point in the article, that there’s no conclusive evidence this level of blood alcohol really increases the risk of an accident, but they want to regulate the behavior anyway. Why do I suspect that this has less to do with safety, and more to do with 1: Bureaucracies making more work to justify their existence; 2. More revenue for law enforcement and insurance companies; and 3. Busybody leftists who want to run everybody else’s life for them.
And I don’t even drink, so this law doesn’t even affect me.
The Nanny State also wants to ban all cellphone interactions within automobiles; even hands-free devices.
“We have recommended prohibiting all cell phone use, including hands-free, because a driver’s mind must be on the driving, just as their hands must be on the wheel,” he said.
They might also want to do something, then, about the music the young people are listening to. It can also distract drivers.
