Probably because left-wingers already have a decisive inclination toward mental illness (and irrational paranoia that the Christian Theocracy is out to get them), they don’t seem to be handling the prospect of a Donald Trump candidacy very well.
If there is an unofficial capital of psychotherapy, it’s New York’s Upper West Side, where it’s easier to find a therapist than a parking space.
Judith Schweiger Levy, a psychologist in the neighborhood, has noticed a recent uptick in Trump references among her patients, including a middle-aged businesswoman who blurted out this week that her sister is supporting the billionaire.
“She was so upset and worried that she could have a sister — someone so close to her — who would have zero problem with Trump,” Levy said. “Another patient — also a woman — all she could talk about was Trump and how he’s crazy and frightening.”
Ruminating on Trump’s effect, Levy said, “Part of the reason he makes people so anxious is that he has no anxiety himself. It’s frightening. I’m starting to feel anxious just talking about him.”
When Conservatives consider the prospect of a Hillary presidency, many will prepare for more repressive gun laws by buying guns and stocking up on ammunition before the State makes it harder. And we make plans to dig in with our families and friends and just ride out the next four years of corruption and batscat crazy radical leftism, just as we’ve ridden out the last eight.
We don’t go whining to psychotherapists.
I am also thinking of all the left-wingers vowing to leave the country is Trump is elected, a list that so far includes Al Sharpton, Raven Symone, Miley Cyrus, Cher, Jon Stewart, Rosie O’Donnell and a whole bunch of dotty leftists who say they will but really won’t when they find out their EBT cards don’t work in Canada. And why do they always swear they’re fleeing to Canada? Why not Mexico? Isn’t that kinda racist?
Don’t worry. When and if Ted Cruz surges ahead Cruz will magically transform into the most dangerous candidate in the history of ever.
I hope the list grows longer; good bye, good riddance, and God (if they believe) bless them. At least they have the intelligence to realize their nuttiness will come to an end. Donald Trump isn’t just a presidential candidate, he’s an iconoclast. It is a movement that is happening. It is a movement to restore common sense in our lives. Living in El Salvador for the last fifteen years, to see how the political parties choose their candidate, “el dedo,” the finger. Lately, I’ve come to realize our own, the Establishment is no better, otherwise how could we get a “it’s my turn” Dole, “I’ve got the scars to prove it,” McCain, and Mitt folding in the debate under Candy Crawley’s defense of Obama. Also, even before campaign season in 1999, W told his staff, “we’re going to win this.”
These unstable Mabels in their echo chamber lives are why most liberals are anti gun. They are afraid of their social circle.
Watching the Republican entrenched-Elites tie themselves in knots on the Sunday-TV Punditry Circle-Jerks over Trump is both amusing — and explains why Trump is getting votes.
“I’m still supporting the GOP’s candidate, but I’m not voting for Trump.”
“So, you voting for Hillary?”
“No, I might not vote — or maybe a write-in.”
“So your voting for Hillary.”
“No, of course not, It’s not that binary.”
“So you are voting for Hillary.”
Anyone, with a valid sense of humor, finds Trump entertaining. Knee jerk defensive attacks & purposeful self-promotion. He’s very Eastern Seaboard New Jersey, Queens NYC in his behavior & outlook. These Libs know this, they just want to threaten the world that they’re going to leave, if anyone on the Right wins, even though that has always been a given considering the current polarizing occupant of the White House & the usual political cycle. The reality of Trump is, since his political ideology is ambiguous at best, it bothers some people that people across the spectrum are supporting him. I’ve had people also tell me, that they’re going to leave. Conservative, Libertarian-ish people who think the sky is going to fall if Trump wins. Trump won’t be a disaster, that’s all I know for sure.
@ Hanover: An article from The Sun addressed the “Trump is the American Hitler” fears. The ultimate verdict was, “I probably won’t vote for him, but I’m not going to lose sleep over him.”
I suspect that a lot of the same comments about Trump’s political ambiguities and “lack of experience” were made by the Elites about Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952 in the privacy of their own homes and the country club bar. They just weren’t public about them in an age before mass television and social media.
And Ike ran the country from the golf course, frequently from Augusta National; America somehow survived….
“And why do they always swear they’re fleeing to Canada? Why not Mexico? Isn’t that kinda racist?”
Maybe the sadistic 2-3%er drug and sex cartels that engage in mass extermination and cremation aided and abetted by those in government intimidate them? They’ve never seen real fascism/socialism. Not too many Fargoes in Canada.
Cutting through the BS, the reality is that any ideology that Trump subscribes to is indeed ambiguous, which is the most important thing in taking the measure of a man running for office who has not demonstrated by actions, his actual intentions. Otherwise, there is no preparation or experience that can, by definition, prepare a person for the presidency. Even decision-making positions such as a governorship.
I realize that Trumpettes tend to be a bit rabid in their defense of Trump. They’re well-known for being rabid, ill-tempered & insistent that their candidate is the right person for the job & that any criticism at all, of Trump, is just wrong & a lie. I also know that the base of Trump’s support comprises a goodly portion of the Tea Party Movt, which segment has bastardized itself, principle-wise, to support someone whose words have pleased them.
That said, there’s nothing wrong with it all & no one is actually falling for the bully tactics, because the people who oppose Trump the most are the segment of Tea Party Movt Conservatives who think Trump is a disaster & a really bad idea. They’re not Establishment GOPers, they’re not civilian elites.
As a Conservative, I prefer to let the candidates fight among themselves & nothing any of their worshipers say has any effect on me whatsoever. It doesn’t even turn me off in consideration of support for their candidate, eventually, if necessary to keep Shrillary out of the White House for good.
It’s beneath a thinker to fawn over any candidate, unless one has nothing better to do.
It is indeed rather racist, when one considers that many expatriated US citizens already live quite comfortably in Mexico, even with all of its many problems. But then it is very much like the class of citizenry who are otherwise proudly supportive of diversity to never want to live in an area without people just like themselves.
Trump has already won by shifting the Overton Window to the right. If he was not running no one would talk about illegals, and we would have Clinton/JEb as the lobbyist’s uniparty choice.
If all Trump does is deport illegals it will be the biggest right victory since Raygun getting leftists to agree to a border wall, except this time we will know SJWs always lie
But you don’t know that for sure. Similar sentiments were made about the person whom The Donald is hoping to succeed, amidst a similar time of unease. Fast forward eight years later, and it’s Mr Hope-And-Change himself whom a large part of the electorate is angry to replace (even though many of them also voted for him—admittedly, or not). The nation is deeper in debt, international relations are based on the premise of “How can we apologize this time?”, and the economy sputters along while every new jobs report is lauded as proof that things are working while never a mention of the ever-decreasing labor participation rate.
This is what almost 7.5 years of having a semi-professional narcissist in the highest office has gotten us, which will take at least twice that long from which to recover. The last thing the country needs is another four years of a new face with similar values.
Don’t discount the #NeverTrump purists. They’re butthurt Rubot supporters who are mad because their candidate is an inexperienced joke.

I’ve got news for the folks who swear they’ll leave if (fill in the blank) happens: nobody else wants you.

This one took the cake. It’s pretty much becoming routine with leftists.
@ 7, Ted B. (Charging Rhino) I was a teen ager and in 1952 we had our first tv. Based on what news and programs were available, it would seem that Ike was the handpicked “el dedo” choice of the elites. The ex-general and admired architect of the Normandy Invasion, as well as, the President of Columbia University looked like a shoo-in to the White House. If the elites had a bias against any candidate, it was Mr. Republican, Senator Robert Taft, from Ohio. In the general election Ike was helped by the whisper campaign against Democrat Adlai Stevenson. We can’t have a divorced man in the White House.
