Peter H. alluded to this story yesterday. A 69 year old Shehada Issa allegedly killed his wife and 29 year old son because he disapproved of the son’s homosexual lifestyle.
“The murder was committed because of the victim’s sexual orientation and because of the defendant’s perception of that status and the victims’ association with a person and a group of that status,” prosecutors alleged in a statement.
Shehada Khalil Issa was being held without bail at Men’s Central Jail. His arraignment is scheduled for April 11 at the San Fernando branch of Los Angeles County Superior Court.
The family name is clearly Middle Eastern; but after running this story down, I can’t find any sourcing that the family is Mohammedan. This source suggests the family is a member of the Seventh Day Adventist sect. Here is the official Seventh Day Adventist position on homosexuality.
Jesus affirmed the dignity of all human beings and reached out compassionately to persons and families suffering the consequences of sin. He offered caring ministry and words of solace to struggling people, while differentiating His love for sinners from His clear teaching about sinful practices. As His disciples, Seventh-day Adventists endeavor to follow the Lord’s instruction and example, living a life of Christ-like compassion and faithfulness.
So, clearly, violence against gays is contrary to the teaching of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi-Amoli of Iran said, in April of 2012, that homosexuals are inferior to dogs and pigs, since these animals (presumably) do not engage in such acts. In November of that year, a cleric on British television stated, “What should be done to those who practice homosexuality? Torture them; punish them; beat them and give them mental torture.”
A 2014 fatwa from the mainstream OnIslam.net proclaimed that homosexuality is “abnormal” and abhorrent” and confirmed that gays should be killed: “The punishment for men or women who are unwilling to give up homosexuality and therefore are rejecting the guidance of Allah Most High is in fact death according to Islam.”
Just slightly different. I mean, you have to really split semantic hairs to discern the difference between those two opinions. And anyway, the left tells us one religion is just as bad as any other; meaningless hobbies at best, but mostly all hate and ignorance and stuff. But, you know, at the same time, one of those two religions deserves the highest amount of respect and deference; while the other is worthy of nothing but contempt and ridicule. Can you guess which of those two religions the left respects and which one they ridicule?
