Headed to my hometown this weekend to spend time with my “ultraconservative family.” There will be some dining out at our surprisingly good small town Italian non-chain restaurant, also a brew pub I have heard very good things about, where I’ll be meeting up with a gay Libertarian I only know from the interwebs but seems like a cool guy. I am hoping to find the time to get some shooting in. Followed by a quick trip to another brew pub in the town where I went to college and the purchase of some very expensive imported cheese.
And the perfect traveling-to-the-hometown music for this weekend.
Have fun!! What kind of cheese??
You can never have too much cheese.
I have to ask, which do you find easier to find, straight conservatives who accept you as being gay, or liberal gays who accept you as being conservative? I suspect it’s the former, but I don’t know.
As a gun loving straight right winger – My first question to OP would probably be shooting related: pistol, rifle, handgun? Second, in what discipline?
Have fun with your family, OP 🙂
Hope you have a fantastic trip home!
No way your from Slocala???
#3.. Straight conservatives are much more accepting than gay liberals. It isn’t even close.
**sigh** I wish I had a place I consider my “hometown”.
I lived in the same place and house all the way through HS graduation, but I haven’t been back in decades even though I drive pass it periodically, and it’s only 30-miles away. I’ve only driven-down my home-street past the house I grew-up in once since 1978 when my parent’s sold it.
And even though I’ve lived in the same town since 1991, I still don’t really know anyone, nor call it my “home”. It’s just where I live….
Is “ultraconservative” homosexual code language for heterosexual, like “gay and straight” means homosexual and bisexual? So, both of your parents were genuine “breeders”? I do not believe it.
Sounds like a good weekend. I hope the reality lives up to the promise. Safe travels.
Can anyone make sense of this? I’ve read it four times now, and I still can’t make sense of it.
Ted B. (#8) I know pretty much what you mean, and you have my sympathies. My father was in the military, so we moved. I was also in the military (mostly Reserves), so moved as well. I have sort of a home town, but not really.
Ah, someone’s been shopping at Zingermans…
I notice you refer to your gun as a she…. As I woman, I feel like that’s a microagression. Everyone knows that a man’s pistol is like an appendage of him….I need a safe space now!! Hope you had a relaxing vaca! I will be going back “home” for almost 3 weeks in a less than 2 weeks.
