#BlackLivesMatter Disrupts Pride Parade

Gay Left Activists invited #BlackLivesMatter to participate in the Toronto Pride Parade so they could unite in solidarity against their mutual enemy: Middle class people with families and jobs. It worked out fabulously

Several members of Black Lives Matter Toronto sat down in the middle of Yonge Street Sunday, bringing the parade to a halt. It resumed 30 minutes later when Chantleois signed their list of demands.

The demands include no police floats in future parades or police booths at the festival, a doubling of funding for the 18-year-old black-focused party Blockorama, a permanent Black queer youth stage, a South Asian-focused stage, and more American Sign Language interpretation provided by Black deaf and hearing interpreters.

In the heirarchy of victimhood, Gay < Black.

Is it just me, or does it seem like #BlackLivesMatter spends a whole lotta time crashing other people’s parties, and very, very, VERY little time trying to make Black neighborhoods better?

Gay Leftist Drama Queen Celebrates the Fourthuh July by Burning a Flag, Denouncing America

Here’s what he said.

I am not proud to be an American. In this moment, being proud of my country is to ignore the atrocities committed against people of color, people living in poverty, people who identify as women, and against my own queer community on a daily basis.

Actually, pumpkin, the only people committing “atrocities” against your “queer community” on a daily basis are Islamic Fascists like ISIS and Obama’s friends the Mullahs and Palestinians.

Climate Change Fanaticism

The first rule of a fanatical cult is that you are not allowed to question the teachings of the fanatical cult.

The reason for this has nothing to do with science, and everything to do with politics. Every “solution” to “Climate Change” involves institution the left’s preferred policies… Centralized Control of the Economy; Global Redistribution of Wealth, Restrictions on Individual Liberties… and destruction of those things they despise; Free Enterprise and Individual Liberty.

That is why Climate Change Indoctrination is being instituted at every level of Government and why questioning the Dogma of Climate Change is being persecuted.

Newsflash: Higher wages don’t come for free

Business 101: When paying an employee, you have to pay in line with their productivity.

  • If you underpay, you lose the employee.
  • If you overpay, you run up losses and lose your business.
  • If you raise the hourly wage, you must get more from each employee hour – and you must cut the hours/employees that won’t or can’t rise to the new, higher bar.

You may have seen the following last week, but I didn’t want to let it pass without comment. After raising wages over the last 18 months, Starbucks and its employees have been learning some lessons the hard way:

An online petition accus[es] Starbucks Corp of “extreme” cutbacks in work hours at its U.S. cafes…

[Starbucks] recently introduced technology that allows customers to order and pay from mobile devices. That service aims to…reduce bottlenecks in stores. [ed: reducing the number of employees needed per shift]

Starbucks has a software system that determines labor needs based on business trends…
Comments on the petition painted a picture of broad discontent at the company…
…many signers say they noticed cutbacks in U.S. staffing hours…
One central California store has seen its labor allotment shrunk by about 10 percent, even though sales are up…
“No matter what we do to save on labor at my store, the system tells us EVERY SINGLE DAY that we are at least 8 hours over in labor for the day and have to cut even more,” wrote [a petition] signer…

Like other restaurants and retail companies, Starbucks is wrestling with the effects of local minimum wage increases…tipping has fallen substantially amid broad customer adoption of the “Starbucks Rewards” program, which allows customers to pay with a loyalty card or mobile phones.

Suppose Starbucks gives in and boosts employee hours (arbitrarily; without a matching, widespread sales & productivity gain). What happens then? Operating budget overruns and closing stores. And/or price increases, declining sales, and closing stores. Perhaps eventually, a closing company. Thanks, Blue State lefties!

UPDATE: This oldie from The Guardian in 2014 may help us to see the problem:

Gun Ownership Helps Make Americans Safer

[Note: Original post greatly expanded.]

In 1993, about three-fourths of Americans lived in states where it was impossible or nearly impossible to get a concealed carry permit. As of 2016, most states had adopted ‘Shall Issue’ concealed carry laws, meaning the state could only deny you a permit to carry a concealed weapon if it could demonstrate a legal reason. Only California, New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, Rhode Island, and New Jersey still limited concealed carry to a state-selected individuals. Ten states had done away with state regulation of concealed carry altogether. And in that period, the private ownership of firearms has soared to nearly 300 million nationwide.

Whenever the right of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves comes up for an expansion, the left shrieks that the result will be violent anarchy. Gunfights will break out in university lecture halls if, for example, students disagree on the proper interpretation of Proust. Democrats politicians histrionically claim that expanded ownership of firearms will lead to shootouts over parking spaces and incorrect coffee orders.

As with everything on the left, these are appeals to emotion and hysteria in order to expand state power and diminish individual liberty. In fact, violence has diminished considerably as Americans’ right of self-defense has been shown more legislative respect and firearm ownership has soared.

The figures are indisputable .

In 1993, there were seven homicides by firearm for every 100,000 Americans, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. By 2013, that figure had fallen by nearly half, to 3.6 — a total of 11,208 firearm homicides. The number of victims of crimes involving guns that did not result in death (such as robberies) declined even more precipitously, from 725 per 100,000 people in 1993 to 175 in 2013.

The places were violent homicide rates remain stubbornly high are deep blue, Democrat-run large cities like Baltimore, Oakland, Philadelphia, and especially Chicago. Chicago has the worst violence and the most restrictive gun laws in the country. However, even as left wing politicians in Chicago and other areas demand more restrictions on lawful gun owners, they refuse to enforce laws against criminals that are already on the books.
