People are paying $33,000 a year in tuition for this:
A small college in Vermont is kicking off the new school year by encouraging students to wear special pins declaring their pronouns, so nobody accidentally uses the wrong one.
“Hello, my pronouns are Xe/Xem/Xyrs,” one button declares. Another expresses a preference for “They/Them/Theirs,” even when referring to a singular person. There’s even a pin declaring “Hello, my pronouns are fluid. Please ask me!” available for those whose gender identity and accompanying pronouns allegedly change over time….
This cultural obsession with the 0.03% of the population with a trendy mental health issue is probably going to continue until some other “oppressed group” becomes trendy. Because it’s very, very important for middle-aged white women to be able to virtue-signal their tolerance and awareness of social trends.
I shouldn’t have to read your hankie code or decypher your special snowflake pin to converse with you. English is my language. If you wish me to address you in a special way, ask politely, and don’t be an asshole about it. Otherwise I’ll address you as “Hey, asshole!”
Just don’t call me late for dinner.
“Because it’s very, very important for middle-aged white women to be able to virtue-signal their tolerance and awareness of social trends.”
Yeppers.
Only one button needed for any of these folks. “me.”
Next “oppressed group”? Hmm…..how about Genetic Suppression?
For example, I’m half African (really, I am), but as white as Hillary Clinton. It tears me up that my rich African heritage has been suppressed by dominant whiteness. I fell like my own Slave sometime.
I could do tours with Elizabeth Warren, Ward Churchill, Rachel Dolezal and Shaun King.
In such an environment, my personal pronouns are “Yes Mi’lord, Immediately Mi’lord, Of Course Mi’lord, and A-thousand-apologies Mi’lord.” Those failing to show proper respect will be driven from their crofts and transported along with their families.
“Taxpayers” are paying $33,000 a year in tuition for this.
With Federal program of paying only 10% of your income (above a certain level of income) and after 20 years the government pays off your loan, taxpayers are paying for this. There is no way a person who “has” to wear these badges will be able to be employed at any significant wage scale.
VtheK… I have seen that 0.03% number, and then other bloggers refuting it saying the number in the study was 0.3%.. Can you or other adept people here at GP confirm or deny these numbers?
Please.
7 : might 0.03% of total population and 0.3% of gay community… Maybe?
You ok? I didn’t want to see anyone run off twitter even with the election. I consider you friend and ally! The fact that you were one of the first people to follow me doesn’t hurt either.

What cultural obsession? It’s less than 2% of the population aiding and abetting the delusions of less than .003% of the population. Perhaps it will dissuade the 2%ers from referring to the .003% as “it” in polite conversation.
It’s bad enough that I have to ask some weirdos what pronouns I am and am not allowed to use to refer to them. But if anybody tells me that the list of pronouns changes from day to day and I need to check in with them on a regular basis, they’re getting the cold shoulder if they’re lucky, and a sock on the jaw if they’re an ass.
Just call me handsome.
It was hard enough learning all the Latin verb tenses (that incorporated pronouns).
Meanwhile, one residence hall at Rutgers tells their students to “only speak when necessary” – so as to avoid any possible ‘microagressions’.
