This is so very true, and so very sad. This is the Democrat Party. This is also the Republican Party. But this is not what America is supposed to be.

This only proves that Trump, Herman Cain, and other rich conservatives are the only ones who have a chance to drain the swamp.

    **le sigh**
I spent my 20s and 30s getting what was supposed to be an elite education and being an upright person-of-integrity. And it got me NOTHING… Looking back, there were a handful of opportunities where I could have whored-myself professionally and personally to get ahead. Now I regret my choices…

I read that article earlier today and I thought it was a reasonably accurate precis of our political system.

The Guardian definitely tacks to the left but, unlike big-foot US media, is capable of some interesting commentary now and then. Funny how I’ve come to rely on the UK media (in addition to blogs) for accuracy in news.

My dad once remarked that “once politics became a business instead of a calling, we lost the war”. I think he was right.

@ KCRob: I’ve found that Europeans seem to have a more objective perspective on U.S. affairs than we do, at times. Of course, that’s the ivory tower effect at work: you can more easily assess a neighbor’s problems because they aren’t your own. Conversely, so many Europeans, particularly in the media, seem to be bound and determined to ignore their slow strangulation by their own governments and the ever-growing tide of Muslim invaders.
