Post-Trump

November 9, 2016 by Jeff (ILoveCapitalism)

Good article from David Harsanyi, Democrats Have Only Themselves To Blame For Trump. A taste:

In all their vast coverage of agitated right-wingers, it may have escaped the attention of many in the media that over the past eight years the Democratic Party has moved dramatically to the left on an array of issues. It’s now a party of cultural imperialists and economic technocrats who want to rule through fiat. It is a party more comfortable coercing Americans who see the world differently than in convincing them. It is a movement propelled by a liberal punditry that’s stopped debating and resorted to smearing millions they disagree with.

And now, I’ll venture two predictions.

First, Hillary is done. You could say she’s young enough to run again. I say that she’s been hiding serious health issues (perhaps a contributing reason for the 10-hour delay in her concession speech). And under President Trump, she’ll be facing investigation for her long-standing corruption. Her balance of incentives will have shifted: it will be better for her to try to gain public sympathy, by playing the Brave Victim of Harrowing Illness. Which, shock of shocks, might even be somewhat truthful of her.

Next, media coverage of the economy will turn very negative. The economy has been quite poor for the last 8 years. The real unemployment rate, for example, is over 11%; not 4.9% as reported officially. The discrepancy arises from the MASSIVE drop in “labor force participation”, under President Obama. During his 8 years, tens of millions of Americans have given up even looking for a job. And once they stop looking, yup, they no longer count as unemployed.

That’s a scandal. And the media had zero interest in looking into it, because the answers would have reflected badly on Obama and Hillary. But, because (and only because) Trump will be President, the media will now discover this scandal and change their tune.

Another example: The economists and statisticians, I predict, will discover that the U.S. economy is in a recession. Not because the economy gets so much worse under Trump (although it might at first, if the current market-bubbles pop). Rather, because the economy has already been in a recession or close to it; and in order to nail President Trump, government-funded statisticians and talkers will now want to emphasize the bad. (Where before, they wanted to mask it.)

Mind you, these predictions might not happen tomorrow. Give me, say, up to a year.

Your predictions?

UPDATE – Made me laugh: John Ziegler of Mediaite thinks the reason Hillary lost is… because the media wasn’t enough on her side as they should have been. Yup. That’s what his stupid non-argument boils down to.

I predict that the DNC-Run Media will have zero effect on President Trump’s (oh, how I love the sound of that!) ability to govern, because:

    a. They’ve lost all credibility. Period.
    b. Trump won’t have any problem swatting down the MSM the way he did during his candidacy. All he has to do is point to them and say “You are in the tank for the opposition party.”

Also, I bet he’ll name a new commissioner on the FCC who will immediately begin investigations into DNC-Media collusion this past election cycle. The “Fairness Doctrine” will go into the trash.

For now, here’s my wish list for President Trump:

    1. Build the wall
    2. Name a new FBI chief and Attorney General
    3. Investigate the hell out of the Clintons
    4. Lock up the Clintons for a long, long time
    5. Begin investigations into media/DNC collusion

    Regards,
    Peter H.

I hope Hillary is done. But I’m afraid we’ll never be truly rid of the Clintons and their smarmy entourage. It’s like herpes.

Listening Hillary extol the Rule of Law just makes me giggle…

Let the Congress take-on the Clinton Crime Family, Trump should just benignly-ignore them as a spent-force.

Well, gee… you’re really going out on a limb there with those predictions…

I believe you, though. I also predict that there will be strife in the Middle East, and that the Pope will continue to be Catholic. (Yeah, I’m really going out on a limb with that last one.)

Prediction : The NAACP will now very concerned with the high rate of minority unemployment.

Prediction : The ACA will be mostly repealed and replaced with a plan that allows for nationwide plans that adhere to basic guidelines. The best way to reduce costs is to increase the risk pool. Why have several hundred individual risk pools when you can have 1 nationwide pool?

Prediction : Trump does not run for re-election. Pence/Cain 2020.

As a side note… The little State of Maine did two things this election cycle…

One.. we split Electoral Votes for the first time. Clinton won the state but Trump won the 2nd District. 1 EV to Trump.

Two.. we defeated the Bloomberg machine and his quest for Universal Background Checks. He spent $5 million. The NRA put up less than $500,000. The people of Maine did the rest of the work.

    Well done Maine!!!

Prediction: The media will now start reporting the Labor Participation Rate as big news.

Prediction: The Fed, now stuffed with Obama appointees, will raise interest rates.

Prediction: TPP will be passed in a lame duck session, and 50/50 Merrick Garland gets confirmed to SCOTUS. Ruth Bader Ginsburg will die on the bench rather than let Trump appoint her successor.

media coverage of the economy will turn very negative” not just that:
we will find out there is a war going on in Afghanistan and Iraq
there will stories about the casualties
stories about the return of the bodies of our soldiers and their grieving families
there is an epidemic of homeless people in the united states
the educational system is a complete failure(although they like that)and the thirty year failure is trumps fault.
we have mass unemployment in the united states even though the number of unemployed will be the same as when the complex reported it as under 5%
the price of food has gone through the roof
    just to name a few

I find it humorous that the Left seemingly refuses to accept reality in this election. First it was those nasty whites being racist… but that failed spectacularly because all the states Trump flipped voted for Obama once or twice. Now they are defaulting to the response of all religious zealots when things don’t go there way: they blame themselves.

Blame themselves as in, “I didn’t volunteer enough hours for Her, the New Lightbringer”?

It would make sense if they blamed themselves as in, “We picked a horrible, awful human being as our candidate.”

    My Predictions:
Trump will not be a great president, but he won’t be a poor one.
He will seek advice over things he doesn’t know.
He will appoint judges who adhere to the Constitution as written.
He will urge the Senate to end the filibuster rule for appointments.
He will appoint an Attorney General who will look into the Clinton Foundation (that beast is not dead yet).
He will appoint leaders to the IRS that will administer it fairly. And point the DOJ after the previous holders for obstruction of justice.
He will fire Comey much to the cheers of the rank and file FBI.
He will do more with far less staff, cutting the Executive Branch budget by at least 20%.
He will encourage Congress to do the same.
He will call out the press for their bias…and be believed.

My husband suggested that since Sheriff Joe lost his election in Arizona after such a concentrated effort against him, that he be appointed in charge of Border Security!

Joe Arpaio, for all his attempts to bring light to the failures of the traditional correctional system and the border problem, is a showboat long past his sell-by date. His actions have cost Maricopa County AZ millions of dollars ($142 million, to be exact) in unnecessary settlements, legal expenses, and court awards. He’s also 84 years old. I’m all for senior citizens serving in public office, but they need to have not grown old while there and need to have the energy to take on big jobs. He’s done plenty for Arizona’s most populous county; it’s time for him to fade quietly away.
