The Left Doubles Down on Isolation from Mainstream America

They are going to reinforce the walls of that bubble with adamantium. An Asylum of Higher Education in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts has banned the American flag so it can concentrate on its core mission of indoctrinating students in homophilia and Islamophilia.

“We will not fly the U.S. flag or any other flags at Hampshire for the time being,” Lash said in a campus-wide email, according to Campus Reform.

While acknowledging that getting rid of the flag may be “especially painful” for military veterans and their family members, Lash said he hoped doing so would “enable us to instead focus our efforts on addressing racist, misogynistic, Islamophobic, anti-immigrant, anti-Semitic, and anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and behaviors.”

The cost of residing in this asylum is $62,000 a year. Forbes College ranking notes, “Hampshire College is known for its alternative curriculum and joie de vivre.”

I can think of a lot better ways to get “joie de vivre” out of the quarter-million dollars a degree from Hampshire College costs.

  1. Can you imagine the worthless degrees these young people will acquire? They will never pay off their student loans while earning 11 dollars an hour.

  3. Hampshire College was almost the running joke of a college when I went to Umass. Hampshire is part of the five college consortium and they actually have courses in taking selfies and students who do thesis in Frisbees, no joke! The students, even back in the 90s, do jack shit and were delicate snowflakes back then.

  4. Maybe, when we let the West Coast spin off into massive debt, we can let New England wander off to relive the Salem witch trials like they really want to, except this time it’ll be the Salem islamophobe trials.

  5. And in another hypocritical move, one campus bans Milo The Fabulous because of his “hate speech.” Who banned him? The “Government’s counter-extremism unit.”

    I kid you not: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/11/21/school-cancels-talk-far-right-trump-cheerleader-milo-yiannopoulos/

Hopefully he got a date with one of the college boys out of this.

    Regards,

  6. I’m sure Hampshire College will continue to accept any tax money that comes its way.

Yeah, but it’s going to have to come from the People’s Republic Of Taxachusetts if it does, since it’s a private school (other than Pell grants, etc). Under a Republican governor, that would get far more scrutiny than under the ruling party.

It only has an enrollment of 1400, and a rather paltry endowment of $34 million. It also has a program to give undocumented students $25,000 per year towards the hefty tuition bill. Starting in 2004, they literally had a group of students start a “Re-Radicalization of Hampshire College” (Re-rad for short) to attempt to steer the college back towards the goals of its founding and make it essentially even more snowflake-friendly. They were the first school to oppose the War On Terror, so removing the US flag from campus seems long overdue. It also has one of the highest rates of graduates accepted into graduate school (who then fulfill their personal manifest destiny and become academics who themselves teach).

Notable alumni/a are mostly arts & entertainment types, the most famous (to me, anyway) being master documentarian Ken Burns. Gene Roddenberry’s son Rod, is also a graduate. Most of the professional thinkers who are graduates are affiliated with leftist organizations & publications, such as The Nation and the Clinton-enabling Center For American Progress.

When you’ve been parodied on Saturday Night Live (back when some guy named Jimmy Fallon was part of the regular cast), it’s probably safe to say that you are the only entity that takes yourself seriously (and far too much so, at that).

  8. OMG, my passive-aggressive, emotionally-abusive Ex went to Hampshire for a couple years, before finally getting a degree (at least, I think he eventually got one) from RIT in Rochester.

  9. Instead of sending your kids to this college:

    (1) Send your kid to a community college for basic accounting and business courses.

    (2) Buy 2 or 3 modestly priced, well selected franchises businesses for him/her to run.

    (3) Use the remaining $50,000 or so for a second honeymoon with a spouse on the Riviera.

  10. The Left:

    1) There are real problems in the world, but we don’t know how to deal with them.

    2) We’ll invent some problems that aren’t really problems and can’t be solved.

    3) We’ll yell and scream that *you* aren’t doing enough/caring enough about our fake problems, while appropriating a whole bunch of your money to ‘solve’ the ‘problem’.

    4) Repeat.

  11. Hampshire College will offer some of its students what the school euphemistically calls “identity-based housing.”

  12. The worst part is the knowledge that this guy is spending $260k so that he can become a history teacher.
