The University of Arizona emeritus professor says in 10 years, humans will cease to exist. Abrupt rises in temperature have us on course for the sixth mass extinction – similar to one that happened about 252 million years ago that culminated in the “great dying”.
That event was the worst of the mass extinction events in our planet’s history and saw all complex life cease, leaving microbes and fungi to rule the planet.
“I think we are heading for something like that this time around, too,” McPherson said.
“I just don’t see how very complex, very complicated organisms that depend upon so many other species, such as humans, I just don’t see how we get through that.”
All righty, then, so let’s not even bother with destroying the Global economy in order to “fight Climate Change.” If we’re doomed anyway, let’s have some fun with it. Forget recounting Jill Stein’s votes (it doesn’t matter anyway) and burn some whales.

A big oops just happened. The melting from the Antarctic ice shelf is not happening because of global warming (man-made or not). A sea floor geological formation has allowed warm water from the seabed to melt the ice at the bottom of one of the largest ice formations. Apparently, the same thing is happening on at least one other massive ice formation. It looks as if the small rise in sea level that has been reported can be attributed to this natural process.
A simple bet, then.
I propose we meet in ten years and if it even comes close to him being right, I’ll remove myself from the mortal coil, and if he is as wrong as we know he will be, I get to beat him bloody and render him into lard for scaring the gullible.
It’s a safe bet.
for me
Let’s see if those wanting to suppress “fake news” will slam him for this.
I can already hear the cry from the Clinton losers, “Trump did this.”
The article’s claim that “all complex life ceased” is, quite simply, wrong. If that were true, and only fungi and microbes survived, we wouldn’t be here. That statement means that all plants and animals went extinct. Which, obviously, they didn’t. The fossil record shows plenty of higher organisms on both sides of the Permian-Triassic extinction, which is the event he is referencing. It was indeed the worst mass extinction in Earth’s history, but to say that all complex life went extinct is flat out wrong and illogical.
Some groups of animals did to extinct at the end of the Permian, but many dynasties of animals survived- including vertebrates, which this quack seems to think disappeared. If vertebrates disappeared, then they would not have been able to return and lead to the rise of one of the most famous dynasties of animals only a few million years later. A biologist ought to know that. He needs to be stripped of his doctorate and laughed out of the scientific community for such blatant nonsense.
We must act now before it is too late!
Looking at his writings, “Dr.” McPherson is considered a quack even by supporters of anthropogenic global warming. His M.O. seems to consist of quoting articles that quote scientific papers and often gets it hilariously wrong, and claims that trends that normally take millions of years will, for some magical reason, start happening on the time scale of decades, if not years. He is a modern-day doomsday cultist who uses poor understanding of climatology in place of erroneous Biblical interpretation.
Scientists have been predicting the “end of humanity in ten years” ever since I was in junior high. So let me put this in perspective: if you want to know how a few degrees of global warming will feel, just move a few hundred miles south. Are people alive down there? And what they DON’T mention is that a little global warming opens up vast tracts of Canada and Siberia to agriculture, particularly wheat and corn. We are a warm-weather species. Global COOLING will kill billions (through crop failure, mostly). A little warming is just fine with me.
Can you please provide the receipts that show him as leading his field. My understanding is that he is considered misguided on 95% of his claims in climate change community. If this is true, how do his views represent the overall movement, and what makes him “leading”?
Thank you.
#8, the blogger need not provide sourcing with his simple statement that the hysteric is a leading figure in his field. A moment’s search will tell you that the crackpot emeritus is published over & over, is in demand to speak in all the countries where the citizenry is generally duped by climate variable freakouts & is well known, among his fellow fools for making ridiculous predictions; anywhere from 20 to 10 years for the extinction of humanity. He’s typical of his ilk. In the first place, no real scientist, unless they’re beholding to an institution that requires climate change dogma obedience & which is handing out grants; would bother or dare to say they understand something which humans don’t have the capability to calculate or comprehend. There is no standard for people who are in & of themselves, idiots.
None of these people are going to tell you that actual statistics contradict each & every one of their predictions, the statistics & actual measurements being in the public domain. None of these people are going to tell you that they don’t know what they’re talking about. …& none of these morons are going to remember that there have been documented climate dummies for at least 200 years, becoming faint at heat waves & hard winter freezes.
Read something, other than Leftist claptrap. No scientist or group of eggheads is the begin & end all of anything, in particular. Picking & choosing an “expert” is dishonest.
Here is a list of experts for you. Enjoy. Feel free to contact one of them and drop McPherson’s name and see what kind of response you get.
Also, a google search will show you that the first three hits under a name search is his own blog.
So, yes, V the K does need to provide sourcing if he’s going to call McPherson “leading” in his field. Thanks, bye.
#10, You’ve completely missed the gist of my entire comment (#9). They’re all nuts, it doesn’t matter what they say, who they know, which of their exalted number they accept as the best of their lot. …& no, the blogger does not have to source every little thing he states in a post.
Nickpicking to refute, is barely worthy of rebuttal. A hoax is what it is; fiction. Climate science, its proponents, its “experts”, it’s political use by F Commies & its reality is fiction. The agenda behind this particular hoax is the only reality & is the actual context of the whole topic.
Those that wish sourcing, links & whiteboard pointers; always need a little extra help, right from the beginning. I get it. However; no one should be forced to help the helpless. But, I will go out of my way to be helpful here. Try spending some time on the blogs Real Science, Climate Depot & Sunshine Hours. They rip apart the hoax daily, with real time statistics & facts. None of which “climate science” (if there is such a thing) address. Don’t bother with NOAA. They’ve already disobeyed Congress in not providing the names of their “experts” on their validation of catastrophic climate consequences.
There’s a whole reality behind what you’re quibbling about. A whole new world for you to explore. Facts, commonsense & calm rules there.
V the K was being disingenuous and misleading.
While global warming is in part a natural development, it has been accelerated by greenhouse gasses. Industrialisation has impacted the environment, and it’s sensible to address how to manage its effects on the natural world.

From my perspective, calling him a “scientician” showed that he’s not a real scientist, in the traditional meaning of the term.
