Combine that with the leftists teaching that America is a violent country where we teach physically attacking people who disagree with you while isolating yourself from them (hence giving an excuse for demonizing & dehumanizing them) and you’ve got yourself a recipe for just this sort of thing. SMH.
Speaking of isolation, maybe it’s time to head to my safe space with pictures of kittens on the walls:
And then there’s this news from the other side of the world in Holland…
“According to Dutch media advisors from the anti-discrimination bureau MiND said that, while homophobic abuse was usually a crime, it was justifiable if you were Muslim due to laws on freedom of religious expression.
They argued that the Koran says it is acceptable to kill people for being homosexual, and so death threats towards gay people from Muslims could not be discriminatory.
In a jaw-dropping email explaining why they could not take up the complaint, they wrote: “The remarks must be seen in the context of religious beliefs in Islam, which juridically takes away the insulting character.”
I suppose it was naive to believe that we were living at the “end of history” where millennia of wrenching social upheavals, at least in the West, were just history (history: what happens to other people).
Between the surrender to Islam in Europe (see comment 2 which is just another example of endless capitulations – just one more and they’ll stop issuing demands!) and the ongoing importation of hostile and incompatible people and the increasingly divisive politics of the left, I’d say were going to see that the relative calm of recent decades was an anomaly. Is regression to the mean the appropriate term?

#2: Whether the Dutch decision is correct is kinda iffy, to me. AFAIK, the Qur’an itself, in speaking about (male) homosexuality, is similar in language to Leviticus 18:22 (“it is an abomination”), but does NOT have language similar to Leviticus 20:13 (“they shall both be put to death”). There are hadiths in which Muhammad supposedly recommended death for “the acts of the people of Lot” — which seems to mean anal sodomy, because the words “kill the one who did it, and the one it was being done to” also appear.
On the other hand, any language about “decapitation or stoning” would appear to come from Islamic theologians, not from the Qur’an or hadiths. So it gets into questions of whether quoting historical sources constitutes a “death threat.”

Needless to say, however, Mohammedans should be held to exactly the same standards that Dutch law would use for hardcore Evangelical Christians citing Leviticus.

The vast majority of Christians are having discussions about whether or not same-sex relationships are sinful (i.e., counter to God’s will) or are metaphysically capable of being blessed. The vast majority of Muslims are having discussions about what method of execution to use against gay people. I don’t think it’s even close.

He looks pretty balding for his stated age, that let him into the US with lesser than the usual minimum scrutiny.
OT:OT but so apropos: the Russian-made jeep carrying the ashes of the late Cuban dictator Fidel Castro broke down in the middle of his funeral procession on Saturday, forcing soldiers to push the vehicle until it could be repaired.
