The purpose of gay left activist groups like HRC, P-FLAG, and NGLTF is not to promote the rights and well-being of gay people. The purpose of these groups is to fundraise from the homocommunity to support Democrats and mobilize LGBT voters to vote for Democrats.

For example. Donald Trump has nominated Rex Tillerson to serve as his Secretary of State. Tillerson played a major role in getting the Boy Scouts of America to openly accept openly gay scouts into their organization, and has consistently been the kind of person LGBT Activists would characterize as an ‘ally.’  (Heck, the Family Research Council characterizes him as an LGBT ally.)

Supporting Mr. Tillerson would be in the best interests of the ‘gay community,’ but opposing him is the most useful position for fundraising and for supporting Democrats in their efforts to undermine and delegitmize the Trump presidency. So, guess what position the LGBT Activist Groups are taking?

Trump had his meeting with the high tech folks.

The coordinator for that meeting was Thiel. Our local very liberal paper ran a WaPo piece on the meeting. Not only was Thiel not mentioned, the photo that was included cropped him out.

Now, if Thiel had coordinated such an event for Obama, his name and picture would repeated constantly as well as the words “openly gay”.

The WH Press* doesn’t deserve Laura Ingraham as Press Secretary, that would make the press corpse [sic] seem “important; appoint her assistant. And no “protective pool”, let them scratch for a living. While the entire Trump West Wing decamps to the adjacent Eisenhower Bldg and the old SecyNavy’s offices. Let the press stay in their wretched-yet-fiercely-coveted cubicles and the Press Room in the West Wing basement. “Oops, sorry guys. No room available.”

    * – Useless tools, noobs, and 5th-column saboteurs the whole lot. They give the amateurs a bad name.

Well, we already know the motis operandi of the left. Nobody ever said that Trump was a racist before he ran for president. No women ever came forward claiming he did bad things to him before he ran for president.

So, why should it surprise us that every person whom the left would adore if nominated by a Democrat is vilified and lied about when nominated by Trump?

@1 – If they cropped Thiel out, I’d say your local paper was disseminating fake news: Thiel is a high-level member of the transition team and was sitting on the Donald’s immediate left (Pence on the right).

I think it was John Derbyshire that wrote that all groups not specifically on the right head left. I would add that more than a few “right wing” groups also head left.

These groups are 100 percent DNC subsidiaries organized as “charities”.

If Trump nominates Laura Ingraham as his press secretary, I wonder if the press will highlight that she is a breast-cancer survivor.

Breast cancer? Overdone & boring. No, if LI does get an administration position, here’s how it will go down.

    1) LI is a known foe of marriage equality. Her most inflammatory statements on the subject will be dredged up. [AFAIK, she’s fine with civil unions and similar contractual agreements, but that won’t be mentioned because, you know, NOT EQUAL!!!!!.]

    2) She’s a convert to the Roman Catholic Church, so that little tidbit will be brought up and how they are opposed to marriage equality and oh yeah, throw in a gratuitous bit about being soft on child sexual assault and false moral superiority.

    3) Her relationship with her gay brother will be highlighted. While once a regular on her eponymous radio show in the past, there was a falling out over his same-gender marriage and her opposition to marriage equality. What is their relationship now? Who cares; she failed to support her brother in his life choices, so that’s what the focus will be (and should be! on).

    4) Her status as a single parent will be raised, along with any and all statements made in the past about the necessity of two-parent households. Nominations for Hypocrite Of The Year will ensue.

    5) Any other issues the populist left supports but which LI opposes will be raised; it won’t matter if her position in the administration will be a non-policy one because the fact that she holds the views is all that matters. This will be the reason for any organized opposition.

Note that there is already a precedent for 3), as K.T. McFarland’s apparently once-stormy relationship with her deceased gay brother has already been the subject of scornful opinion pieces masquerading as news after her appointment as Deputy National Security Advisor was announced. Accusations of ‘outing’ her brother to the rest of the family and being insensitive to his death from HIV/AIDS was noted, even though he died in the mid-90s at a different time in society. (And all with minimally-sourced references, as is to be expected.)

This is what potential Republican nominees have to face in today’s world of ‘public service’.

In a similar vein, remember back in 2008, when Sarah Palin, running as the Vice Presidential candidate with John McCain said that the Vice President controlled the Senate, and could influence legislation that came through it?

The left laughed! They said that all the VP did in the Senate was bang the gavel. That’s it. Oh, and occasional break ties, but that’s it. How naive of Palin!

Well, now Pence is going to be the VP, and The Freedom From Religion Foundation has purchased a full page add in the NY Times worried that since a *gasp* Christian was going to be the Vice President, that he will control the Senate and pass legislation there that would ban abortion, ban gay marriage, maybe even send black back to the plantation!

The left never seems to think anyone has a memory.

    Tillerson

“Most of the reasons that organizations fail at change is pretty simple,” he says. “People don’t understand why. They don’t understand the mission. They don’t understand what this means for them. They don’t understand their role.” Now, the most important job is to communicate with Scouting supporters back in each member’s home council, he says.

As the CEO of ExxonMobil Corp., Tillerson is no stranger to the task of making tough decisions or venturing into uncharted territory because of a change in course. “Regardless of where you were on this decision, it’s also very normal for people to feel like there are winners or losers. I’m here to tell you that’s not true. … There are neither winners nor losers. What’s left after we made the decision to change is the mission, and the mission has not changed. But how are we going to implement the change?”

I’m not too worried about Pres. Trump and the gays during the Trump Administration, afterall he used to party with Roy Cohn at Studio 54. …As for The Gheys, they might have a problem.

PFLAG isn’t a political group. It’s meant to be a support group for gay people and their parents, siblings, grandparents, etc. who may be struggling to find out that a person in their family is gay.

Now, HRC and groups like that…those are political.

Roy was Fred and Donald’s attorney for years…and a family friend.

Roy is also being credited with The Donald’s take-no-prisoners bare knuckles campaign style. But since he was publicly outed as scum of the earth in Terence Trent D’Arby’s O’Malley’s McNally’s oh, whateverhisnamewas’ play that is the epitome of social activism theater, he and DJT have been labeled as birds-of-a-feather and therefore not worthy of respect or human decency. In short, the same style that the far left has engaged in for years is being mirrored back to them and it’s not pretty at all.

I find it beyond humorous that someone who has lived much of their adult life in the rarified world that is the Borough of Manhattan and has had all the contacts he has throughout the years is somehow already plotting to fire up new sweatshops in whatever the new Garment District is to churn out sad gray uniforms with pale pink triangles on them for use in the redux of concentration camps.

    PFLAG isn’t a political group.

PFLAG used to be non-political, but they have taken solace in the “stronger together” mantra that binds the left and aligned themselves with political groups, as V the K has noted. This is line with their initially urban-centric focus as well as their headquartering in DC along with the other BLTGQWXYZ political groups.

It’s rather unfortunate, since there have been many chapters which have formed in the past decade or so which are not in large cities and are largely apolitical as individual groups. The political alignment by the national organization and some of its larger chapters only hinders the efforts of these smaller chapters and tags them with the same broad brush that applies to those of us who aren’t on the leftist bandwagon.
