Just got back from church, nice service. I haven’t gone in a long time. Merry Christmas to everyone on Gay Patriot!

This evening’s Christmas Vigil Mass with the family was enjoyable; the church wasn’t as intolerably overheated as last year, and the priest kept the homily relatively short. As a language geek, I especially appreciated his point that “Bethlehem” etymologically means “house of bread,” and this ties in with the baby lying in an animal food-trough, and the Feeding of the Multitudes, and “This Is My Body.”
PS. Ha-Motzi Lekhem min Ha-Aretz (“The One who brings forth bread from the land”) — line from a standard Hebrew “grace.”

This kind of ruins “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” and “Last Christmas.” (Though I never liked the latter and would be happy to see a 50-year moratorium on it.)

Aww, it’s become one of my favorite GM-flavored songs; better than Careless Whisper and another one whom a lesbian friend of mine always said was an ode to teenage sexual assault (which name I can’t think of at the moment). Last Christmas was the song I first thought of when I heard the news.
