Slate: Is America Ready for Black Musicians?

January 2, 2017 by V the K

Oh, Good Lord.

Black women ruled music in 2016, whether the country was ready for it or not: http://slate.me/2hF7E36  pic.twitter.com/oKoK9mw5I4

To the left, America (once you get 50 kilometers away from any major coastal population center) is always and will be forever Mississippi in 1954.

The Baby Boomer obsession with race goes back to the sixties. Everything boomers did in the sixties was subsequently discredited. Spitting on Vietnam war veterans… not cool. Sexual revolution… that’s how we got AIDS and broken families. Maoism?… not even the Chinese are into it. The Soviet Union collapsed and it turned out the counter-culture had been rooting for the losing team the whole time. Hippie culture? Reduced to mockery. But, from the Boomer left’s perspective, “Hey, but we were right on civil rights (not really, but that’s another post) and we are going to rub civil rights and race in the faces of the next two generations so maybe they’ll forget about how we destroyed the cities, spit on soldiers, embraced communism, and unleashed AIDS.”

The Millennial obsession is a combination of emulating their “parents,” the end result of a lifetime of indoctrination of race-obsessed boomers in media and academia, and because boomers control the media, and the way for Millennials to advance is to suck up and play to their prejudices.

That Mississippi stuck in 1954 was created by previous generations of Democrats

Not a big fan of stereotyping generations. I know that “the greatest” generation loves to bash baby boomers, but really now. Any historian worth his metal will tell you that people never change & that humanity is consistent. Issues cycle back & forth. American issues of race have cycled on & off since the mid 19th century. Sexual mores have been more uptight :::since::: the 60s, which did not cause aids. A virus caused aids. People & their libidos haven’t changed.

The only thing different in the 60s was the filth of a minority of people & a change in music. Their message was insignificant, media coverage exaggerated the spectacle. Not even the drug use was unprecedented.

Slate is has been the new over the top tabloid for a while. They like their eternal niche as “internet news” which they’ve never been.

I could have sworn Billie Holiday was black.

Not sure about that, Hanover. A good portion of baby boomers and millennials are just spoiled assholes.

The same could be said about any generation, James. The “millenials” (which isn’t a generation) are too young to be judged & your world & almost everything in it that functions is a result of the hard work of my fellow baby boomers (I’m in the last year or two of that generation). We weren’t responsible for social programs like social security which were foisted on the country by earlier & “better” generations. People don’t change. Individuals can change throughout their lives. History is quite specific on this topic. The cliche, there’s nothing new under the sun, is truer than most imagine. Blame, however, can be place on ideological groups. The Democrats. I don’t really have to defend my own generation. But I will point out common falsehoods.

Um… is Beyonce not actually black? B.B. King? Louis Armstrong?

And yet these morons wonder why they lost over 100 counties that the Messiah-in-Chief carried twice. People are tired of their nonsense.

It’s the same thing with actresses. Every time a popular film with a female protagonist comes out, the proggies are all, “ZOMG, a female protagonist! We’ve literally never had one of those before!”

People are tired of their nonsense.

Indeed they are. But it matters not, since the grievance machine and the race hustlers are more energized in a post-November Eighth world than they would have been (initially anyway) otherwise.

Awards season in the music and film worlds is upon us. If there aren’t X number of identifiably black, brown and decidedly non-white faces ‘represented’ in the final ceremonies, expect a lot of wailing and whining about the persistent “systemic and institutional racism” of the governing bodies and the entire industries. All of this is because it’s open season on minorities in a President Trump world.

The upside is that it only hardens the opposition to their whiny BS. Thus helping ensure continued GOP victories in the years ahead.

The Alt Right is another one that’s obsessed with race.
