Russian Hacking Looks More and More Like #FakeNews

January 5, 2017 by V the K

The FBI Never Examined the DNC’s Hacked Computers; The Diagnosis of “Hacked by Russia” Was Made By a Private Firm the DNC Hired.

The DNC isn’t acting like it thinks it was hacked by Russians. It’s acting only as if it’s in its political interest to claim it was hacked by Russians.

Then, there’s the whole #FakeNews “The Russians Hacked Our Electrical Grid” story that the Washington Post was pushing. Turns out to have been pretty much completely made up and hyped.

Been listening to “iWar” by Bill Gertz (just published).

Don’t be too quick to rule out Russian involvement – Russia, China, et. al., spend a lot of time and effort engaged in “information war” (of which cyberwar is only a part).

Based on what I’ve read, getting into the DNC and HRC’s email server wouldn’t have been all that tough (and there is evidence that several nations, hostile and friendly, had access to HRC’s emails) so there are a lot of suspects. And I still maintain that a useful media (not to mention IRS, et al) would have uncovered most of what we’ve learned.

Anyway, so far, it’s an interesting read, er, listen.

Obviously you too are a Russian, as is Julian Asange,Sean Hannity almost everybody at Breitbart etc, etc. The patriotic thing to do is to cry havoc. ,and let slip the dogs of war, with Russia. (As a aside does anybody besides me notice that we were supposed to love the Russians when they were the Soviet Union?) Plus we must declare Donald Trump a tool of Vladimir Putin. Where is Rocky and Bullwinkle when you need them?

all this “the Russians did it” is to cover up what was in those e-mails. forget who did it, was what was in the e-mails true is what everyone should be concerned with.

The more that comes out about “election hacking” the more it appears that John Podesta is one of the dumbest parentfornicators on the planet. How did he ever pass the bar exam? The weakest of all passwords, plus his own personal e-mail address (instead of a proprietary, essentially disposable one the DNC could have issued him). I don’t use my personal e-mail addresses for business stuff and vice versa and I have nowhere near the stature of the guy who used to be White House Chief Of Staff and is the godfather of the wannabe progressive movement.

He and Algore’s campaign manager plus Frizzila (Debbie Who Did The DNC) are a real brain trust. One gets the impression that they could be entertained for hours with a simple index card that has “Turn Over” printed on both sides.

Russian officials celebrated Trumps win as “their” win
Yet you obfuscate most likely because of your discomfort of being a tool

mike….can’t have it both ways. When the Roosians said they were not involved, you didn’t believe them, but when they celebrated Trump’s win as “their win” you believe them? Which is it? You progressives are so confusing (not to mention confused).

I think any part that’s left over from the most-of-it being leftists seeking to delegitimize Trump.

Julian Assange apparently said as much during his interview on Hannity the other night. It’s the dying gasp/goal of the Obama Administration, and appears to be working to an extent: 52% of Hillary voters believe that the election results were tampered with by the Russians. It’s like a collective group of people have been watching early ‘80s-era dramas about the Cold War and have tried to extrapolate them to current real life.

    Hi V the K,
“Russian Hacking Looks More and More Like #FakeNews”
Can you please explain why it is that US Government Intelligence Services disagree with you and most other commentators here on this?

    January 6, 2017 at 7:15 pm - January 6, 2017

@14 – the intel services also say there’s no evidence the Russians altered a single vote and that the DNC declined to cooperate with FBI… could it be a desire to maintain confidentiality (reasonable)… a desire to hide more wrong-doing? Or could it be the DNC knows there’s no evidence implicating the Russkies.

Regardless of whether or not the Russians had anything to do with the leaks, the facts remain that 1) countries snoop on each other for their own benefit and 2) the leaks revealed a lot of stinky fact about the DNC, the Administration, and Clinton, Inc.

Funny how the left was perfectly OK with the exposure of Bush-era incompetence (don’t remember much actual criminality) but think their side should be immune to that which has been going on for centuries.

Thank you V the K and KCRob.
As far as I can tell, neither of you disagree with the claim from the Intelligence Services that Russia was actively involved in trying to influence the 2016 election in this country. I am trying to understand why you don’t appear to think that is a big deal. Let us grant your claim that this is for “partisan benefit.” Let us also agree with the fact that foreign powers supported HRC through campaign contributions. OK. So what? First, there is a difference between campaign contributions–used for ads, GOTV efforts, etc.,–and, illegally hacking information and then airing it to try and affect the outcome of an election? Or that isn’t a difference for you? Second, why does the “partisan” nature of this effort change in any way the importance of the evidence that the Intelligence Community including the FBI provided concerning Russian activities? You will have to explain why many Republicans are alarmed with Russian activities and are happy to name them as the perps in this activity. It might be unfair to you both, but I do not get the sense that if this had been reversed, with a foreign power working to lose the election for Republicans / DT that you would be so dismissive of the evidence

As for the claim that not one vote was change–how do we know? The report released today says explicitly that: “We did not make an assessment of the impact that Russian activities had on the outcome of the 2016 election. The US Intelligence Community is charged with monitoring and assessing the intentions, capabilities, and actions of foreign actors; it does not analyze US political processes or US public opinion.” That does not look like evidence to support the claim that “the intel services also say there’s no evidence the Russians altered a single vote.”

I think it is OK to say that Democrats are crying more now because their bull is getting gored; its also OK to suggest that Democrats have something to hide when it comes to their correspondence (Hey Hilary!). But those are red herrings, V the K and KCRob. That is not what is central to the issue here.

    Hi V the K,
Your views are shared by a lot of folks. It now appears that President elect Trump accepts the intelligence community’s findings on Russia’s role in the hackings. It may be that the President elect may be less fixed on “winners” and “losers” but on the “national security” of the nation. Time will tell.
