Well, This Must Be Awkward…

January 22, 2017 by V the K

Suddenly, the left-wing gays and the Westboro Theater Troupe are on the same side. Awkward.

Perhaps they realize they had a lot in common all along. A love of drama. Hatred of the United States. Living off donations while performing street theater. And, oh yeah, the Democrat thing.

Same thing they’re seeing in the U.K. Only difference is the people there are Mohammedans (http://dailycaller.com/2016/06/13/londons-muslim-mayor-bans-sexy-women-in-advertisements/). The left doesn’t care if they’re aligned with people who are truly against them on core issues as long as they agree with them on the peripheral issues…

Isn’t the Westboro Baptist Church a tiny fraction of the White Supremicist movement?

Craycray, as far as I understand it, Westboro Baptist (all ~16 members) is a sizable fraction of the crazy assholes liberals love to say are the true face of the Right wing. Not really sure I’d call them White Supremacist, but then I spend approximately 0% of my time thinking about white supremacy, how to maintain it, or the Westboro Baptist fruitcakes.

The Southern Poverty Law Center estimates that there are 190 active KKK groups with between 5,000 and 8,000 Klan members in the U.S.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups in the United States, estimates that there are a little more than 930 such [white supremacist] groups in the country right now. Most of these are white supremacist groups or white nationalist groups, according to Potok, a senior fellow at the SPLC.

Their data on the KKK/White Supremacist groups must be false or exaggerated, so I guess we’ll never know!

Westboro Baptist (all ~16 members) is a sizable fraction of the crazy assholes liberals love to say are the true face of the Right wing

Hmmn. I guess I’ll just go with 16 being a sizable fraction, because SPLC is just so untrustworthy.

Wow, a maximum of 8,000 members in the entire United States. Less than 0.003% of the population. And a goodly number of their ranks are probably filled with undercover FBI and ATF agents. Truly, they exert great influence over our nation. /sarc off

And how many of those other groups have members who number in the 10s? 100s? 1,000s?

Lay off the vodka, Vince my boy. We know you’re upset, but drinking yourself to an early grave won’t make things better.

Cray, assuming that the ~8000 people per 190 groups is average, that gives each group approx ~42 members, and over 930 groups, an average maximum of less than 40,000 people. Population of the US is ~324 million, which makes ‘hate groups’ approx 1.208*10^-4 percent of the total population. Westboro baptist is 0.0004% of that number, making them a significantly larger fraction of ‘white supremacist’ than ‘white supremacist’ is of the US.

And yes, you’re right, SPLC is not fully to be trusted. They have a significant left wing bent, and include some very questionable groups and individuals on their hate lists, almost as if they have some kind of agenda.

@9 if you are going to list hate groups the SPLC would be at the head of the list. there are a lot more people who are members of the noi than the kkk. but the splc never mentions them. nor do you for that matter.

Salg, they do actually list Louis Farrakhan as an extremist and the Nation of Islam as a extremist group – which to be honest I was surprised by. They still don’t include La Raza or Muslim Brotherhood, though.
