Disney Censors Gay Content from ‘Beauty and the Beast’ to Appease Religious Extremists

March 14, 2017 by V the K

No objections from the Social Justice Wankers, because Islam.

Walt Disney has shelved the release of its new movie ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in mainly Muslim Malaysia, even though film censors said Tuesday it had been approved with a minor cut involving a ‘gay moment.’

The country’s two main cinema chains said the movie, due to begin screening Thursday, has been postponed indefinitely. No reason was given.

Film Censorship Board chairman Abdul Halim Abdul Hamid said he did not know why the film was postponed as it was approved by the board after a minor gay scene was axed.

But what if we’re very conservative Christians or Catholics who wanted to censor it?

@2 – in that case it’s copyright infringement because you’ll be a grownup and just censor it at home (or pay someone to do it for you).

That just about tells you all you need to know about …….. Disney. They “axed” a “minor gay scene” in order to sell tickets. The old invisible hand made them do it. And, it was just a gratuitous “minor gay scene” which the invisible hand made them insert for buzz and more ticket sales. Gay, Muslim or just shallow, Disney comes out on top. That is the sound of one invisible hand clapping twice.

@4 I wonder how many will get the Damn Yankees reference.

I predict that the remake of BatB will not do very well in the boxoffice PRECISELY because of the gay character stunt. Conservative families will stay away from it, and that number will not be made up by gay liberals eager to see yet another gay character in a film.

Beauty and the Beast is already waltzing to new records.

Advance ticket sales for the Disney movie, which hits theaters March 17, are the biggest for any family film in Fandango’s 17-year history, beating the likes of Finding Dory, the online service announced Tuesday.

Director Bill Condon’s live-action adaptation of Disney’s classic animated movie is expected to open to well north of $120 million this weekend in North America, with some suggesting it could cross $140 million.

Interesting tidbit from Pakistan. However, the Malaysian authorities have cut “a gay moment” out of the upcoming film in order for it to be shown within their borders. In response, Disney has pulled the release of BATB from the Malaysian market. While this could be a pissing match between a Hollywood conglomerate and a specific foreign market, it could also be a signal to other areas to not interfere with the distribution of a product. Regardless, I’m pretty sure that BATB won’t be shown in Saudi Arabia, outside of those exhibition houses restricted to members of the royal family.

It could be for either of those reasons.

But, B&tB will be showing in Pakistan from what I can tell.

And Pakistan is a majority-Muslim country from what I’ve gathered.

And, anyway, VtheK was b1tching about the gay content in B&tB the other day, so I would have thought he would have sided with the Malaysians.

Not that consistency is his thing. He’s pretty all over the map. As long as he indicting the Liberal Left.
