This is a really good comment — appended to my post about the Stupid Statue of the Stupid Smug Little Girl standing in front of the Charging Bull that all the left-wing idiots love because it represents their fantasy that the world will change if you just stand there and look smug — that I said I was going to promote to a post then forgot about, then remembered again.
It says so much about lefties. Reality vs. fantasy.
Fantasy: “We just need to hug it out with our enemies and learn to understand and accept our differences, because deep down, we’re all the same.”
Reality: We are all the same (dark, twisted souls), which is why we should know and accept that sometimes the only recourse is to smack down the bad guys [Because they will gladly kill you for being stupid enough to want to hug them].
Fantasy: “If I really, really, really want something hard enough, I’ll get it in the end (the plot of every Jack Black movie), despite my total lack of perseverance, work ethic, and focus on the goal.”
Reality: If you have the aptitude, resources, resolve, and opportunity and work really, really, really hard, maybe you’ll be one of the lucky ones who wins in the end. [Also, you can get what you want and still not be happy – V.]
Fantasy: “If I stand resolutely against the tide [and look really smug, and maybe direct snarky comments at those who tell me I’m wrong], the tide will bow to me.”
Reality: If you get out of the way of a tsunami, maybe you won’t drown.
Fantasy: “The laws of physics, common sense, chemistry, economics, and human nature are null and void when I make my plans to fix the world.”
Reality: Time and gravity take their toll. Facts don’t change, feelings do; bet with the facts. [And ever expanding Government is fiscally unsustainable in the long term.]
Yeah, that. All of that.
Also, if you say “of course, we support free speech,” but have to attach an asterisk and a list of exceptions to that statement… you don’t support Free Speech.
Adam Savage wore a tee shirt on Mythbusters saying “I reject your reality and substitute my own”. It’s a great joke, not a way of life..
Sounds like classic Triumph of the Will.
The statue is one more example of the worldview of Rachel Corrie.
Problem with this picture…for staunch Dem/Lib/Lft people…is, that the Bull is hanging a “left” and so the little smug girl isn’t in any “real danger” at all…LOL!!!
is this reality or fantasy, leftist anti-trump protesters at the trump hotel in Washington, d.c. say mike pense is putting gays in jail. he signed some thing that take’s gays rights away
Speaking of fantasy world, John Derbyshire’s latest podcast has some excellent commentary about the revolting “March for Science” spectacle from last weekend (that segment follows a segment of ten questions for the increasingly “cucked” Trump Admin.).

If I could have been bothered, I would have gone to one of these “March for Science” carnivals with a sign showing Hiroshima and Nagasaki as targets with a couple of mushroom clouds under a banner reading “Science!!”.
PS: there’s a thing going round comparing the academic credentials of Bill Nye the bow-tied science guy to the academic credentials of Dolph Lundgren. Turns out Dolph wins the credential wars: MS in chemical engineering and offered a Fulbright scholarship at MIT (which he declined – to marry Grace Jones, I think).
The younger Clinton’s tweet from the other day regarding words and actions is a prime example of the disconnect between fantasy and reality.
So is CCP’s comparison of the actual violence of the left and the made up violence of the right.
I thoroughly enjoyed the comment when it was posted and am delighted to have it posted to savor it again.
Leftists have made a science of creating reality out of what they really, really want. It would all come true if the doubters would submit to reeducation or euthanasia. If only we had a little red book full of brilliant thoughts to carry over our hearts ……
Great post and comments.
Reminds me of why I always loved Margaret Thatcher’s observation on the stubborn, immutability of facts and the ultimate futility of mis-labelling the reality of people and things.
La Thatcher observed, or words to the effect: “Being strong is rather like being a lady. If you have to keep telling people you are then you probably aren’t”.
I saw that and saved a copy to my phone. If true, Dolph has several advanced degrees, both in his native Sweden and the US. It’s always amusing when an actor/celebrity is really smart but doesn’t flaunt it pops up amidst all the pretenders who think they’re smart (I’m talking to you, paper towel designer Alyissa Milano) who don’t know Jack Schitt about what they are incessantly prattling on about.
