Stephen Colbert’s audience of trained seals cheered when he announced that Jim Comey had been fired as FBI chief. But they obediently changed course when he lectured them that James Comey… who was the bad guy who “cost Hillary her rightful seat in the White House”… was now a good guy because Trump fired him.
Colbert went on to explain how we have always been at war with Eastasia, alongside our historic allies, the Eurasians.
As for me, I could not bear spending my life being led around by the nose; waiting for Stephen Colbert, or John Oliver, or Rachel Maddow to tilt her head and condescendingly lecture me about what I was supposed to believe. But leftists seem to want to be that way. Whatever.
You know, this is once again an example of the left purposely trying to mislead Americans because they believe we are all idiots and we, being idiots, believing them. Even if the Russians did “hack” the election, there is no evidence that they manipulated votes or made fraudulent ballots. All that occurred was the confirmation that the Democratic Party is very much divided and disfunctional, and confirmation that Hillary broke the law with her e-mail debacles. Why shouldn’t we know about that? Why would we want our president to be someone who believes laws don’t apply to her? James Comey was fired because he is a flip flopper and poor decision maker, and someone like that should not be in charge of the FBI. That’s it.
It seems apparent that liberals need to be told how to react to news nowadays. Therein lies their downfall.

Peter H.
Worth remembering: Clintons fire FBI directors. Bill did it to William Sessions.
This whole incident saddens me a bit, in that it reminds me of how malicious the Left’s thought-leaders are and how dumb their followers are.
There’s no point in getting outraged with the likes of Colbert, Stewart, Maher and Oliver. They’re profiting off of their low information, sheeple, braindead audience and followers.

This just another indication of why HRC lost the election. I hope they keep it up.
“I love my people. PULL!…”
– Its good to be the King
Conservative author Ann Coulter argued Tuesday that President Trump’s surprise firing of FBI Director James Comey is an attempt to distract the public from his inability to get funding for the border wall.
“Comey firing is a red herring to distract from the fact that Trump hasn’t started building the wall,” Coulter tweeted Tuesday evening, an hour after the White House announced the termination.
Fox’s Charles Krauthammer slammed President Trump for firing FBI Director James Comey, calling the decision “inexplicable.”
Krauthammer said the stated reason for the firing, that Comey had mishandled the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server as secretary of State, was implausible.
“Here’s what so odd about it. This is about, according to the deputy attorney general, something that occurred on July the 5th,” Krauthammer said on “Special Report.”
“So we start out with something that is highly implausible.
“If that was so offensive to the Trump administration, which you would have done during the transition is you would have spoken to Comey and said, ‘We’re going to let you go,’” he continued. “That is when a president could very easily make a decision to have a change that’s not unprecedented.
“To fire him summarily in the middle of May for something that happened in July is inexplicable,” Krauthammer concluded.
The Hill
I often like Krauthammer. But he is not seeing this one clearly. (Nobody bats 1000)
The official explanation for Comey’s firing is more than adequate: http://www.gaypatriot.net/2017/05/09/comey-fired-rod-rosensteins-memo-against-him/
Ditto for Coulter. Trump is not distracting anyone from anything, this time; just getting done with an overdue firing. Now, the Democrats making this molehill into a mountain; they’re trying to distract people from something.
I love how rusty uses differing opinions with in the conservative/Republican realms to make a case that Trump is inept. What rusty really points out is how the conservatives/Republicans use differing viewpoints to come to their own conclusions. This is completely foreign to leftists (see http://www.gaypatriot.net/2017/05/10/sheeple-of-the-left/)
rusty, a tried and true leftist, is so stupid he doesn’t even realize he just proved the case against his own sheeple.
“they’re trying to distract people from something”
They are scared to death a real investigation into the Clinton emails and the Clinton Foundation is going to take place. Either of which could destroy the budding political career of the “not very bright” younger Clinton.
rusty is just checking to make sure we’ve seen the other viewpoints 🙂 He’s alright.
Yes. I think that’s part of it.
I also suspect it’s something bigger. I will probably do a post on this when (or if) I get more evidence together, but… I have a sneaking suspicion that Trump has been upsetting a LOT of applecarts in terms of hidden corruption, not limited to the Clintons. Which would be why we’ve had a full-court press for his impeachment since even before he took office.
V, that twitter thread is a hoot. One leftie seriously says:
A coup? Maybe; in a good sense of “The People’s constitutionally-elected President taking control of the executive branch against Deep Staters who have been improperly resisting him.”
A constitutional crisis? NO. WAY. The President absolutely had the authority to do what he did.
Obstruction of justice? NO. WAY. President Trump was not under investigation and not blocking any investigation. “Russia hacked our election” is a Big Lie (in the Goebbels/propaganda sense). On Monday, even Obama’s DNI guy (Clapper) conceded that there is “no evidence” to think Trump ever colluded with Russians.
Krauthammer is very GOP Establishment & his record for over a year has been filled with flaws. Which record has been very Rove-like. Flawed because he cannot comprehend actual Conservatives & why they voted for a non-conservative’s conservative agenda. He’s not understood the Tea Party Movt in the past which leads in to his current lack of understanding. At least Rove is starting to get it now, whether he’s bluffing or not is another matter, since he’s an excellent strategist, without question. Of course, Krauthammer isn’t going to understand why a creature of both Establishments was canned. But it’s not even that when it comes to the actual issue. Comey is the penultimate Career functionary. Usually Excellent at navigating the waters of government & his particular goals (obviously). His miscalculation came last year when he was thought he was ready for his closeup. There should never have been a closeup. His position demands constant behind the scenes activity, not limelight center stage. He could have pulled it off, but he was a coward. To pull it off would have meant a referral to Justice for indictment of Hillary. His cowardice with this failure to conclude The James Comey Show turned it into a flop. It was all so much of a joke, that there was no consideration of courtesy in his termination. Completely the opposite, as it turns out, because Comey found out his fate while he was addressing a crowd. Screens behind him were reporting the news about it taking him by surprise. It was one of the most publicly violent rebukes in modern history. He was ripped apart by it all. The moth got too close to the flame, it seems.
It was explained to me on the radio today by Mike Gallagher (how accurate this is, I don’t know, but it does makes sense) that after Trump fired Susan Yates for failure to defend his EO Trump had two slots to fill, Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General. The FBI director reports to the Deputy Attorney General, who reports to the Attorney General, who reports to the President. Trump, being a smart businessman, delegates duties out, and does not like to micromanage. So, once he has his choice of Attorney General confirmed, Sessions then recommended who the Deputy should be, who just got confirmed. It is the Deputy who then evaluates the performance of the Director of the FBI, was found wanting, reported to Session, who reported to Trump, who then had him fired.
Nonetheless, the firing was way overdue. There is only one reason why Hillary was not indicted last year, and this is because she was running for president, and Loretta Lynch did not want her indicted. So, she pressured Comey into saying she shouldn’t be, which would explain why Lynch didn’t. The orders probably came from the top, though.
Now, hopefully, the indictment that the rank and file of the FBI felt was needed can be forthcoming.
But for Comey (representing the investigators, however badly) to have gone public with the evidence or reasons for Hillary’s guilt, was most irregular.
Have his actions inoculated her? Is it now impossible for her to get a fair trial? thus, pointless to indict her?
I am so gives-zero-fuques about who gets fired at that level of the circus.
Hillary could still be indicted because the Statute in question doesn’t require intent, even though bumbler Comey mentioned finding no intent. I do not believe there is any appetite by Justice to indict Hillary, it’s just all too stupid now, water under the bridge, that sort of thing. Also, politically, it would smack of prosecuting a political opponent, even though Hillary did actually break the law, which is an actual fact. A felony. But it’s not stealing a car or insider trading. This is all at the top levels of our society. So, water under the bridge can & will probably happen. Even a review by a new FBI director isn’t going to change the outcome.
However; there’s no such a thing as inoculation at a US attorney’s level, let alone at justice. People can change their minds, rescind deals & pleas.
From GP’s twitter Shapiro retweet
A few things we’ve learned tonight:
1. Everybody’s a hypocrite on Comey;
2. This WH is run like Lucy and Ethel wrapping chocolates.
#23, rusty. Except Shapiro is as rabidly anti-Trump as the Leftists. The only hypocrites are on the Left in this matter & firing Comey was pretty cut & dried. The only chaos was in the Democrat Media, Establishment GOP dinosaurs & the Dem Party. There’s the reality of the situation & then there are the various desperate out of touch out of favor agendas trying to spin an absolute. Hard to do that because it just doesn’t bend. But you know, the hysterical among us all often fire false volleys &/or have bad ammunition.
So, how about we indict Loretta Lynch and Eric Holder for obstruction of justice for the numerous times they failed to prosecute very obvious law breaking while prosecuting the exact same crime of lesser people?
Then name Hillary as an unindicted co-conspirator?
Ace of Spades had the money quote for this:
“So many probably did not know that the Party Leadership had declared that Emmanuel Goldstein was no longer a Traitor, but in fact a Martyr, a 180 degree reversal reached by a Consensus of Twitter Scientists in just ten minutes of primal screaming and digital animal noises.”
Four legs good, two legs better.! Bah bah.
