You know what I’m talking about.
May I posit that the left’s snotty assertion, “When they go low, we go high” only applies when they think they’re winning?
Remember when the left-wing went into… or perhaps, merely elevated… paroxysms of outrage when someone hung an “Obama Presidential Library” sign on an outhouse? How disrespecting the president in such a manner was the most outrageous outrage of all outrageous outrages. Remember how the Justice Department investigated it as a hate crime?
She actually thinks this gruesome stunt will jump start the rusted out 1992 Yugo that is her career. What does that say about Hollywood and liberalism?
And don’t take this the wrong way, she has every Constitutional right to do this.
And if someone else wanted to portray Barack Obama in a demeaning and disrespectful way, that would have been their Constitutional right. Although, it’s likely they would have had the tolerant progressive mob descend on them… probably the FBI and IRS, too.
Update: Why do they do this?
It’s fine to get shocked or outraged. But you have to understand something. This is all they’ve got. They don’t have rational arguments, not against Donald Trump, and not in favor of anything. If they did, they would utilize the freedom of speech we still have, the academic institutions they largely control with federal dollars, and the media they dominate to make those arguments. Yet they don’t. Either they do things like Kathy Griffin has done here, or they do the equivalent of those things — rant, rave, cry, pout, unfriend people from Facebook, and all the rest.
What have they got? That’s the question. And the answer can only be: nothing. The proof of that is the way they’re handling their loss. When people throw away reason and replace it with bullying and barbarism, they’ve confessed they’re at the end of their intellectual run.
Hat Tip: James
Kathy who?
A friend of mine told me, I don’t know how true this is though, Kathy Griffin actually told the straight people to leave her show, this is for gay men only.
We will not hear from CCP or lil letter mike.
Oh wait, they will both present false equivalencies.
You know, if a student at my school starts presenting signs of violence, such as in the photo, and discusses said violence with others, or on social media, said student is pulled by administration and counselors, at the very least to see if there is a threat. Parents are asked to be involved. And at the greatest, in light of evidence, law enforcement is called. At the school level, things like this photo would be looked upon, at the least, as needing to be apologized, or at the most, as constituting a threat. Why doesn’t the same hold true for Kathy Griffin or Madonna or any of the other celebrities who have threatened violence on the president?
My Facebook feed is full of gay liberals denouncing her for this.
I didn’t know about the video until I came here.
My opinion: Tasteless, pointless, and attention-wh0ring. As far as the last part, it looked like it worked.
IMO, this is not what Michelle Obama was talking about when she said, “When they go low, we go high.”
The more intelligent GP commenters probably can get what I just said.
And, then, Tnnsne1 and friends can go ahead and spin the meaning of my words into the fabric of their own delusions.
*shrug*
I’m sure there some people here are going to have a hard time believing that or they don’t care.
@ 5, When you say liberal do you mean classical liberal or progressive liberals?
I’m discussing Michelle Obama’s intent.
Or, are you arguing that rtm’s FB feed is a lie?
CCP fell right in line. No outrage. Simple, “Oh well”. Next!
This is precisely what the Obamas and the Clintons promote.
This is the “progressivism” CCP extolls as the best thing for America.
It is not ” Tasteless, pointless, and attention-wh0ring”. It is vile, violent and gives permission to her followers to carry out violence.
The progressives in this country are showing they are vile, violent and perverted.
CCP, will the progressives announce a boycott of her shows?
I’m sorry I wasn’t emotive enough for you. I expressed my opinion of what I thought of the video: tasteless, pointless, and attention-wh0ring (and all that goes with what I label such things).
I don’t agree with it. She’s sending a nasty message.
Well, we’re at an impasse. But, in the recent discussion of Levi’s ban from this site, you considered Levi was “abusive to commenters,” without providing examples or comparing his “abusive” behavior (and its consequences) in contrast to ND30.
We’ll see. I have no idea. Will you ask any progressive friends you have to boycott her?
And CCP applies the progressive playbook rule #4, hijack the thread.
Have the SJW announced a boycott of her shows and sponsors? Has Hollywood shunned her?
If not, they, like you, don’t consider this to be a vile act. Yet, you, Hollywood and the SJW consider a $1000 donation to an anti-SSM campaign to one of the most vile act ever committed against humanity and a man had to be punished severely for it.
Perhaps Trump should order the IRS to look at her returns or maybe have the Secret Service knock on her door.
CCP, any progressive friends I had dumped me once they found out I am the membership coordinator for a local gun rights group. Progressives are gun grabbers.
You seem to have lots and lots of them. When does the boycott start?
I have looked online in all the usual SJW places… Silence.
test.
The system isn’t allowing me to post my comment.
I’ll try to break it up:
Again, I, CCP, am discussing Michelle Obama’s intent. If you have examples of me or Obama nodding along to what you listed, feel free to provide them.
I was pretty outraged and disgusted when I heard that sound of the U-Lock landing on Sean Stiles’ skull. I made that VERY CLEAR on GP (and elsewhere). I also posted when the announcement of his arrest was made. And I look forward to seeing him get his due. And I haven’t supported any of the ill behaviour, nor has Michelle Obama. Please provide proof.
I’m the most “left” of all my friends. Most of my friends are middle-of-the-road politically. I don’t know any SJWs. And I have friends who are gun-owners.
You wrote this:
I’ve made and supported three comments:
1) My opinion of the video
2) My opinion on what I think is V the K’s misinterpretation of Michelle’s Obama’s intent on that “go low/high” expression
3) My belief that progressives that d@mned if they do/don’t (the interpretation of liberal gays speaking out against this)
Darling GP!! WTH happened to your Twitter feed?? This is very upsetting.
The outhouse display was a vulgar joke, nothing more. For the DOJ to investigate it as a crime is as ridiculous as if the Secret Service had investigated Colbert for his “cock holster” quip.
It might be possible, though, to make a case that Kathy Griffin, Sandra Bernhard, and Madonna have all made credible threats of violence. Although I believe there is a line between saying you want someone to get hurt and actually stating an intent to hurt the person yourself.
Maybe Kathy Griffin decided she needed to do something a little different from her usual stand-up routine. Have you ever heard it? The same thing for the past ten years:
“I met Helen Hunt at the Emmy awards, but when I saw her at the Oscar awards, she didn’t remember me. I met Sharon Stone at an AmfAR benefit, but when I saw her at the New York Film Critics’ Awards, she ignored me. I met Lindsey Lohan at the Golden Globe awards, but when I saw her at Spago Beverly Hills, she walked past my table and didn’t even stop and say hello.”
Except Kathy would somehow drag that three-sentence, one-joke monologue out for a full hour.
pawfurbehr, I mean Democrats who voted for Hillary and Bernie.
“Maybe it’s like a NAMBLA/gay pride thing where they don’t object to it morally, but they think it might make the movement look bad.”
Besides being gay, I know lots and lots of gays, and every one of them has a moral objection to NAMBLA.
V the K says she issued a pro forma apology, but it’s hard to interpret it that way. V, how would you have rephrased this to make it more than just pro forma?
“I sincerely apologize…I’m a comic. I crossed the line. I moved the line, then I crossed it. I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny. I get it. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career. I will continue. I asked your forgiveness. Taking down the image. Gonna ask the photographer to take down the image. And I beg for your forgiveness. I went too far. I made a mistake, and I was wrong.”
I mean, she’s literally begging.
Watch her apology and see how she rolls her eyes throughout. Her body language doesn’t match the words she was forced to utter.
She’s wretched. I liked her better when she was Carrot Top.
V the K believe that the gay movement and gay liberals have a little bit of NAMBLA in each and every one of them. Hence, the reason why he still drags it out from time to time. Something about the movement holding up Harvey Milk as a hero and not repudiating Henry Hay, etc.
It’s funny. You’re asking for a line to be drawn here by “liberals.” Yet, when ILC clearly drew a line with Gianforte/that reporter, your line, as well as many commenters in the corresponding threads were a bit more qualified and fuzzier (“listen I’m not going to advocate violence, but the reporter clearly had it coming to him,” etc).
Your fallback here, of course, is, “Well, liberals claim to be the party of non-violence, claim to take the moral high-ground, yet don’t back up their words with actions,” etc. Yet, that moral superiority is alive and well on GP (i.e. “liberals claim to have it, but we’re the ones who actually do”). Like, which is it? It sounds like you’re trying to have your cake and eat it too. “Liberals don’t hold themselves to any standards, so why should I?” “But, I have the moral authority, because I don’t front like I do.” Do I have that right?
You make an argument using Michelle Obama’s words and you conveniently toss her in with the worst of the party without making a sound argument, and keep patting yourself on the back.
Here’s the the Kathy Griffin video (I had to look it up; I know more about this stupid “event” than I care to)
The two eye-rolls I saw look like that might be directed at herself for going “too far.” I’ve eye-rolled myself before when I relayed to someone how I’ve done something stupid (yes, it happens often). Is she sincere? I dunno. If there is a threat for loss of income from her actions, then I’m guessing probably not. If she constantly went too far and would express remorse afterwards, then, I’m guessing probably not. As much as I don’t care for Kathy Griffin’s humour, I can imagine a scenario where she saw the reactions, rewatched the video, and thought, “Hmmn, yeah. Maybe I did go too far.”
Well, JIMMY, again, ILC was the one who drew the CLEAR, HARD line. Perhaps you should read his response again, as it was long and pretty well articulated. There were an assortment of “other” responses which including yours (i.e. “etc” in my Comment #31), “it was wrong, but”. But, please feel free to believe that I mischaracterised you.
And, again, this was not an isolated event where a reporter was “dealt with physically,” in the realm of politics this last year. And this is also in the context that MSM can “no longer be trusted,” as a way of dehumanises them and casting mistrust over EVERYTHING that is reported.
And, I’ve already answered your stupid examples. And you still have yet to provide an instance where Michelle Obama (or myself) have endorsed them.
By the way, you seem to want to hang Kathy Griffin for her transgression or that of the Liberal Left (or both). How often do you actually report on the time she puts into going overseas and entertaining the troops? Because the Liberal Left is ALWAYS SO EVIL!
Oh, no! How dare I bring that up at a time like this. She must be vilified permanently for her video (which clearly was made in bad taste; and people on the left and right are speaking out against it) and nothing she has to contribute is of ANY value.
I’d thank you for being honest, but you forgot the H (you really don’t GAF!).
What does covfefe mean? Is that the new euphemism for “fake news”?
CrayCray, may I ask you a question? If his words upset you so, why do you keep coming back to argue with VtheK? I wouldn’t give him the time of day…I don’t mean that disrespectfully. I just don’t see why either of you would keep it up if it’s making you so miserable. HUGS to all. (And no, I am not a love-in hippie…I like hugs and they make people feel better.)
You make a good point, TAD. Thanks for the hug.
“I’m discussing Michelle Obama’s intent.” -CrayCrayPatriot
This struck me as funny. I had mental pictures of you having regular tea with Michelle or your being being her mother/Barack in disquise.
I admit My impression is that Michelle’s only intent was a smear job against those who dared to challenge the DNC. Then again I don’t like her and think she is a hideous person down to the core of where her soul should be.
Thank you for this very timely take on yet another Liberal “melt down”.
The local liberal newspaper has zero coverage of this. Most likely progressives will now flock to her shows.
CNN is “evaluating” her role on the network.
Every venue that is planned for her show should be boycotted. People should dress up in black hoods and carry bicycle locks. Isn’t that what you are supposed to do when someone offends you?
“Hey, it’s just ME being ME. Everyone knows I have no filter or boundaries, so just kind of deal with it. (Eye roll) To the extent that any of you hypersensitive folks were offended by my bluntness and candor, well, so sorry. (Eye roll) There, is that better? Now I can go back to being a nasty a-hole.”
At first when I saw the photo I thought she was just trying to be funny and do a Game of Thrones, Hollywood circle jerk, kind of gag but the look on her face is pure hatred and not like she was trying to be funny at all. Maybe the woman is seriously disturbed but probably just like the old saying in Hollyweird used to be, “there’s no such thing as bad publicity” and she figured this would get her back in the eye of her beloved celebrities.
When did Griffin’s dogwhistle publicity stunt gain equivalency with Gianforte losing his cool?
√Griffin=publicity hound “entertainer.”
√Trump=Head of state.
√Outrage=Griffin holding up bloody (ala ISIS) head of head of state for Twitter hits.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
√Gianforte=candidate on election eve
√Reporter=nemisis getting up in candidate’s face
√Outrage=candidates must be willing and able to take it.
You want equivalency? Some one should have knocked the head out of Griffin’s hand and then a great howl could go up about her right to free expression being curtailed.
If you can defend Griffin, you can defend anything. I would dearly love to hear someone or anyone preach about the clever nuances of Griffin’s performance art.
Here is my take. Griffin set all of us up to notice her and planned all along to make a huge mea culpa apology for being temporarily insane because of —— TRUMP!!!!! What’s to lose if you are a third tier loser?
Progressive of Griffin? Heck yes. She grabbed the spotlight and she made the droolers drool. She can now apply for a federal grant to further her performance art.
Better put some ice on that, al-Cray-da. (As your mentor and icon, rapist Bill Clinton, said to Kathleen Willey after sexually assaulting her.)
Regards,
Peter H.
Years & years ago and the last time I paid attention to KG, she ‘joked’ that she’s so far to the left, she’s a Sandinista.
So, brutal murder seems totally appropriate for her.
This sums up the hypocrisy of Progressives :
Interviewer Alisyn Camerota then asked Franken, “And you’re still going to appear with her?” He responded, “Yes.”
At least she didn’t dress up in a Trump mask and work as a clown in a rodeo.
No offense, but that fag-hag is so ugly it makes my strap-on go limp.
Anywhere I can get a Kathy Griffin mask? I’d like to put it on a pike next to the mailbox at the head of the driveway.
And CNN has just fired the Douchehag! One very small win for basic decency. Who knew CNN had any standards?
Realize I’m a bit late to the party, but I’m with Conservative guy on this one. Never heard of her.
This isn’t really helping:
So, she has a job where she works one night a year? That makes her famous? Is she trying to be Dick Clark, or is her goal more Chelsea Clinton ($600k for one show)?
<i."May I posit that the left’s snotty assertion, 'When they go low, we go high' only applies when they think they’re winning?"
Not even then. When they think they are winning they are only emboldened.
The local progressive newspaper finally picked up this story. Comment Section has progressives blaming Trump and Trump supporters for her “art”. They made her do it. What the progressives don’t understand about that line defense : it shows progressives are unable to control themselves. Not very good for the branding is it CCP?
Oh, look! She is bleeding out all over! She’s got blood coming out everywhere!
@V-K… I grabbed a guys spoof off his Twitter and uploaded it here: https://www.liveleak.com/view?i=8ec_1496216562
Now they are targeting Barron Trump for his reaction to seeing the vile progressive art of KG.
“Jeopardy’s Ken Jennings Mocks Barron Trump’s Reaction to Beheading Photo: ‘His Little Heart Is Breaking’”
CCP… More progressive branding. You must be very proud. First the progressive r@pe jokes about the underage Palin girls from several “comedians”. Now making fun of a traumatized 11 year old. Remember the SJW rule : the action of one are cast upon the others.
What gave me the honour of you being so obsessed with me?
I’m thinking there might be more to the story then the Second Amendment.
So she claims she ‘…went too far.’ I can understand (and possibly have sympathy for) someone who does something spontaneously, then regrets it because they recognize they overstepped a certain boundary. I don’t extend such understanding and sympathy for someone who consciously and very deliberately oversteps a certain boundary in the name of ‘art’ or ‘comedy’ or ‘to make a political statement’ for the very reason that it was the result of forethought and intent. Blaming her and her photographer’s decision to have the bloodied facsimile of Trump’s head constructed, the studio space prepared, the shot posed, selected, edited, and published on the far-too-simple excuse of mental illness or attention-whoring or any other easy explanation doesn’t wash: she did something she thinks is completely rational. And it doesn’t get any more damning than that.
Perhaps my take on her choices were an over-simplification. You bring up a lot of good points. I’m still trying to wrap my ahead around what part of this she thought was humorous.
As well, on Towleroad, the comments have been a mixed bag. There is everything from “you go gurl” to “why did you apologise?” to “meh” to “it’s not funny, she was wrong” to “she was clearly wrong; what was she thinking?” to “she erred big-time and should pay for it.”
Then, you also have people pointing out all of the instances where Obama was hung/burned in effigy, asking, where was all the outrage then? And bringing up Ted Nugent–who called for death in the Obama admin–visiting Trump in the Oval Office.
I really don’t know what to think anymore. Only: Kathy Griffith made a huge error in judgment for a return on investment that seemed pretty non-existent to me.
Iggy – one comparison that came to my mind was the Beatles “butcher cover” where they posed with dismembered baby dolls and hunks of meat. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yesterday_and_Today
The differences from Griffin, I think, are:
– way less bloody
– non-partisan; a commentary on the Vietnam War, but not directed at any one political figure, nation, group or party.
Still, it was a disgusting thing to do and they ended up apologizing.
Back in 1966, that cover would be way more shocking than it is today. Society was less image-saturated with no internet and television being still a fairly new medium. So, the bloodiness may have been less, but its effect was greater then how we would judge it now.
But, you’re right, ILC, about everything else in your comment.
