Let’s take the hypothetical cases of Billy, Alex, and Fatima. All of them are pre-teen children living in blue-state America.
Billy has just started puberty and thinks he may be attracted to other boys. Billy’s parents are deeply religious and concerned about this both for religious reasons and because they don’t want to see him ending up as the featured sling-bottom at a bareback chemsex party, and they would like him to talk to a therapist about changing his orientation or behavior. Current social status: Billy’s parents are worse than Hitler and what they want to do is illegal.
Alex has begun painting his nails, dyeing his hair pink, and told his mom he wants to be a girl. Alex’s mom immediately found a doctor who’ll be happy to begin flooding his body with artificial hormones to thwart the natural process of puberty so that when he turns eighteen, he can have breast implants and his genitalia mutilated into a crude facsimile of a cervix. Current social status: Alex’s mom is the toast of her wine and book club ever since she announced, “Alex is becoming Alexa, and we are being totally supportive.” She pitched an article to the Huffington Post, but they said, “No thanks, we’ve fulfilled our quota of ‘Supportive Parents of Transgender Youth’ for this month.”
Fatima’s Mohammedan Somali-Immigrant parents want to have her genitalia ritualistically mutilated so that she can never enjoy sexual pleasure. Current social status: Approved and defended by the ACLU and feminist groups, because to oppose such a thing would be Islamophobic and racist.
And that’s where we are in the Culture Wars in America. Good night.
“told his mom he likes girl things”
She immediately jumped onto the trans-parent bandwagon, posted on Facebook/Twitter/Pintrest/Instagram, “Finally I have a transgender kid. I spent thousand of $$$ on girl things for him”.
Fast forward 10 years : Alexa hates her breasts, can’t find a man to date her, sues her parents and the doctor for destroying her life.
We don’t think an adult who is 20 years and 364 days old has the mental capacity to drink beer yet we allow 6 year old kids to determine the physical makeup of their bodies.
More and more this rings true: Isaiah 5:20 “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
If you prefer your morality/philosophy deity-free: I pity the fool who can’t tell the difference between 1930s Germany and 2000s America.
…and the makeup of the country at 18.
What bothers me most about the first scenario is that they are outlawing it even for consenting participants. Even for consenting adults.
It’s like a lot of gays absolutely REQUIRE the orientation to be completely immutable that they will ban anyone from trying it.
“can virtue-signal to each other”
And eliminate toxic masculinity at the same time!!!
“We don’t think an adult who is 20 years and 364 days old has the mental capacity to drink beer yet we allow 6 year old kids to determine the physical makeup of their bodies.”
Who is we, cowboy? The only ones proffering this nonsense compose less than 2% of the population aka the homosexual/bisexual/GID population.
#6, me thinks you have your stats backwards
If Billy’s parents are that religious then they may wish to use a pastor or minister for religious counseling for Billy, and laws against conversion therapy exempt such treatment.
@ 6, more like 3 or 4 %
I like Billy’s parents.
I feel bad for all these kids.
I agree, James (#10), I like his parents too. Helping Billy to find his true inclination–and do nothing permanent–is proper. Of course his parents prefer that he find that he is really straight, but it seems to me to be out of love, both in their religion and in society. The anti-conversion therapy laws are drawn too broadly if they include this sort of discussion with a therapist.
Too soon for Alex. Should be post age 21 unless there are real problems before. Going along a bit with my comment above, do nothing permanent yet.
Fatima should be taken away from her family if they want to do FGM. It is an ignorant and cruel cultural practice. I’m willing to go out on a limb and say that there is not one verse in the Koran that supports this sort of thing. And probably nothing clear in the Hadiths, either. The ACLU is wrong in this case, and if they weren’t trying to be so anti-Judeo-Christian values in general, they would see that.
Very apt quote from Isaiah, windbag (#2).
Not happy destroying the lives of anonymous others, people like Alex’s “mother” (a father in the picture??) destroy their own offspring simply to earn points in the SJW wars.
Anyone willing to sacrifice their own must be superior to SJWs only willing to sacrifice anonymous others.
Did anyone notice Trump withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Accord?
Apparently the only binding part of it was the rich countries in the West fork over tons and tons of cash to bribe others to get on board the agreement. Glad we’re out of it for that reason alone. And, as someone who likes the federal government staying within sight (if not within) Constitutional boundaries, I’m glad the “agreement”, which should have been a treaty, is dead as it was a legal abomination.
DT: “Believe me, we have massive legal liability if we stay in.”
But, Mr. President, it’s non-binding. There is no legal liability.
DT: “the United States will cease all implementation of the non-binding Paris accord and the draconian financial and economic burdens the agreement imposes on our country.”
Okay, but there is no legal liability. It’s not Draconian. It’s non-binding, like you say. But, it’s voluntarily. You can back out later.
DT: “Believe me, we have massive legal liability if we stay in.”
Did you just hear me?
DT: I won the election in November big league. The final results were yuge.
What on earth are you talking about?
DT: Covfefe.
*GP cheers*
VTK: Thank God, Hillary isn’t president. This sh!t-show is WAY better. And, plus, it gives us a chance to work on our gas-lighting skills. Non-binding, what? Who? Now, has Lena Dunim done anything stupid lately that I can report on?
Huh? All the countries in the world but Syria and Nicaragua signed the damn thing.
By the way, Cov fe’fe is Arabic for “I shall stand up”. Trump must have picked the phrase up when visiting Saudi Arabia despite what the NYT says.
Since “Trump must have picked the phrase” during his tour abroad, then why did he delete the tweet five hours later?
Sean Spicer: “The president and a small group of people know exactly what he meant.”
I wouldn’t call 420 million Arabic speakers of this world “a small group.” It’s the sixth most spoken language on the planet.
But, thanks for trying (it).
Err… Is there something wrong with “… ending up as the featured sling-bottom at a bareback chemsex party”? [/sarcasm]
And once again, al-Cray-da tries to hijack the thread.
News flash, Cinesnatch – The Paris accord is just one of many attempts by leftist enviro-whackers at destroying capitalism and removing borders.
Of the 200 countries signing the accord how many would actually donate money to other countries so they can go green? The bottom line is the US would’ve been stuck with the bill, even though there is an outstanding $20 trillion debt that Obama left behind.
So the only two countries who didn’t sign it were Syria and Nicaragua? So friggin’ WHAT?
Trump rejected the Paris accords because of the uneven playing field it imposed. What’s so damned hard to understand?
Geez, go put some ice on that, al-Cray-da. (As your idol and mentor, serial rapist Bill Clinton, said to Kathleen Willey.)
Regards,
Peter H.
I find it amusing that Kerry considers pulling out of the Paris Accords an abdication of our role as a world leader and a shameful day for our nation, but not his boss’ cowardly refusal to enforce his own red lines.
CCP (#17 and 18)–then it worked. The poor countries signed on so they would get part of the loot for curtailing their carbon dioxide emissions.
The agreement may not have been binding, but you would have heard screams from all over–other countries and people within ours–when we didn’t pay what said agreement said we should.
Apparently, “non-binding” is pretty hard to understand in this day and age.
Thank you for editing this and tacitly acknowledging who the real object of my sexual desire is. 😉
Non-binding = meaningless, useless and inane.
Apparently, “non-binding” is virtue signaling showboating and walking away from it is the height of intelligence and maturity.
I make two factual corrections where the commenters were wrong and people come for me. Absolutely bizarre.
