Tough Love Versus Kumbayah

June 5, 2017 by V the K

J.J. at AoSHQ had some interesting stuff this morning. I’m just going to swipe it and highlight the best parts.

Tarique Ghaffur (Assistant Commissioner at Scotland Yard when the 7/7 bombings took place) proposed last weekend, (that) we need to round up the terror watch list, all 3,000 of them, and intern the lot. And secondly, we need to lock down the 650 jihadis we allowed to return to the UK or get them out. If they went to Saudi or Syria to train, they can go back there. And their passport and right to British nationality hits the incinerator on their way out. I know all the arguments against internment-the camps become universities for terror, it will alienate other Muslims and help radicalise extremist sympathizers. And a few weeks ago I’d probably have said that tipped the balance. But we are way beyond that now.
Our security services clearly cannot cope in monitoring all the threats out there against us so it’s time we took the most obvious ones off the streets. If we breed more homegrown terror, we incarcerate or deport. A or B.

Spengler, aka David P. Goldman, over at PJ Media has a similar brainwave:

The way to win the war is to frighten the larger community of Muslims who passively support terror by action or inaction-frighten them so badly that they will inform on family members. Frightening the larger Muslim population in the West does not require a great deal of effort: a few thousand deportations would do.

A little tough love would do a lot more to reduce terrorist attack than all the “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” Kumba Yah horse dung the left is pushing. Still, I would favor deportations over internment camps. As we’ve seen with Club Gitmo, they tend to be portrayed in the media as worse than Birkenau, while in reality being four-star resorts for terrorists complete with soccer fields, halal food, and Qurans delivered with white gloves so they are not soiled by the dirty hands of infidels. (The media, once again, being helpful to the cause of Global Jihad.)  Besides, I have a strong aversion to imprisoning people who haven’t violated laws. You could use the same logic to deny people their right to bear arms (as Britain has).

Deporting people who have actually trained in jihad or supported jihad would have a strong deterrent effect; just like “stop and frisk” had a strong deterrent effect in NYC before liberals stopped it because virtue signaling.

JJ continues.

My feeling is that Islam is a totalitarian political movement that seeks the subjugation of humanity, or its destruction in the attempt. It is not compatible with a modern, civilized society. Unfortunately, it’s more modern (chronologically-speaking) twin, Leftism/Statism/Socialism has the same goals, minus the pseudo-religious trappings, and has definitely formed an alliance of convenience with the former.

He’s right about that. If every ISIS dispatch ended with “Hey Hey! Ho Ho! Western Civ has got to go!” they would barely be distinguishable from a course syllabus at Evergreen State. The main difference between Islamic Supremacists and progressives is that the latter have a pretty fuzzy notion of their endgame: a Global Socialist Utopia that will Work This Time because the Right People (them) Will Be In Charge; whereas the former have a much more specific vision of a Global Caliphate ruled under the iron fist of Islam

But another thing the reason terror won’t stop is because it’s working. The terrorists are achieving their goals of getting the West to kneel to Islam. When pools and recreational facilities are separated by sex to appease Muslims, that is a concession to the terrorists. When schools in the United States teach Islamic propaganda and get children to recite verses from the Quran (but ban all expression of Christian faith), the Islamic Supremacists are winning.  When laws are passed banning criticism of Islam and the Quran, that is a huge victory for Islamic Supremacy. When media companies ban the image of Mohammed, that is a concession to terrorists.

When the free countries of the world attack the only real democracy in the Middle East and give billions of dollars in aid to its enemies, that is an enormous victory for terrorism.

Terrorism is working. And as long as it keeps working, we will have more of it.

By the way, the NeverTrumper Conspiracy Theorists are blaming the terrorist attack on… Russia.

    Great post and very timely.

We need to have a very frank conversation about whether Shari’a is permitted in any way, shape or form to take precedence over our established western tradition of secular law.

Our legal system grew out of the needs of the society and has been continually shaped by the changing circumstances of society.

Shari’a law was imposed on society from “above” and the purpose of Shari’a is to mold the society and fashion the society to the demands of Islam. Shari’a controls the society. Therefore a fundamental conflict occurs if the society tries to adapt to changing circumstances, because Shari’a is not meant to adapt.

The burka and veil are “cultural” manifestations of Islam. There is no reason why a veiled woman should not uncover her face for purposes of legal integration in a Western society. If she wished to work in a Western restaurant, all of the health regulations apply equally to her in spite of her wish to be dressed according to her chosen custom.

We have been greatly misled by Progressive Piety-crats who are forever searching for signs that someone is being victimized by society.

We have bent over backwards to accommodate anything associated with Islamic culture in order to “coexist” even with those Islamists who will throw you off a building for being gay. That is a form of insanity protected only by the calm assurance that “you don’t know any Islamists.” And then a van comes rolling up to the gay bar and things change. (Think: Omar Mateen and Orlando’s hottest gay bar, Pulse, and 49 murdered bodies.)

We need only look at Canada to see how Progressives will blindly experiment with fighting fire by pouring gasoline on it.

Shari’a is Islamic law enforced by religious police and adjudicated by religious judges. That is totally incompatible with Western rule by law.

“Moderate” Muslims pick and choose how much Shari’a they are going to “obey.” Islamists hate them for taking such liberties with the Prophet. Islamists find them foul for drifting away from “true” Islam. Those are facts. For us to pretend that we can all just get along (“coexist”) is whistling past the graveyard. Muslims and Islamists understand the facts.

Maybe it would be useful to cast the Islamists as Nazis, the Gestapo, the S.S. – “Schutzstaffel– “the Protective Shield.”

Maybe Hollyweird needs to get on board and portray the Islamists accurately.

We could use an Arthur Szyk to set the tone of our war with Islamists.

I agree. Islam is a 7th-century version of totalitarian collectivism, much more political than religious, masquerading as religion because that is what you had to do in the 7th century.

ILC, I’m not being needy and asking for affirmation here and I am neither disputing the accuracy of your assessment, nor quibbling with it. But, we live in 2017 with Islamists who want to drag us back to “a 7th-century version of totalitarian collectivism” and it is a small matter as to whether that 7th-century version of totalitarian collectivism is “much more political than religious, masquerading as religion.” They are slaughtering away in 2017 in the name of “true” (7th-century) Islam.

The time for an Islamic religious awakening is now. The dictators of Islamic countries are totally aware that they have to keep their peasants subdued and their Imams on a tight leash.

The House of Saud has backed Wahhabism since the House of Saud began its control in the 1930’s. Our Department of State has calculated that Saudi Arabia in the past half century has funded Wahhabism to the tune of at least $10 billion. Wahhabism is stricter and more intolerant than general Sunni Islam.

Trump’s trip to Saudi Arabia was a landmark for change. Saudi Arabia is looking beyond oil and OPEC for its economy. To survive, they will have to be open partners in economies beyond the Mid-East. They are awakening to the realities long understood in Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey. They have managed to keep the Wahhabism tiger on a cobweb leash, but now they are being forced to put a lid on extremism as a method for controlling the bottom rungs of the masses.

I have no idea if they are “playing” Trump and the West or if they have come to a true reckoning. Iran is a great threat to them and I believe they are calculating that arming themselves with the US on their side is a better strategy than sitting and waiting to see what Iran does. Meanwhile, Israel is a far better ally for Egypt, Turkey, and the Saudis than Iran forcing Israel to go nuclear by themselves.

The “palace intrigue” in the House of Saud must be something to behold.

Whatever the scenario, Egypt, Morocco, Tunis, Jordan, The Emirates, Lebanon, Turkey and the Saudis are damned glad that Obama’s “Arab Spring” has been strangled in the cradle.

Giuseppe Provenzano is a good friend from Corleone, Sicily. (Yes, that Corleone.) He has the very long view of history and an extremely important view. He was furious when Qaddafi was overthrown, not because he liked Qaddafi one iota, but because he understood the glue that Qaddifi used in holding Libya together.

The Phoenicians settled in Sicily followed by the Greeks and problems with Carthage, the Punic Wars, the Romans, the Vandals, the Byzantines and then the Muslims until the Normans and then the Germans, the French, the Spanish and on and on and on until the Nazis, Patton and liberation.

Constantly conquered peoples view history vastly differently from Americans. They tend to be quite practical. Provenzano saw Obama as a gnat to be ignored, lest he do something stupid that would have short term ill-effects on Sicily. People fleeing Libya headed for Sicily and Sicily kept them floating on to Italy. In the sense of being practical, Sicily did not want the mess of mass migration to deal with. The view was one of “let the Pope feed them.”

I bring all of this up, because every country in and around the Mid-East is burdened with old realities and lessons from past experiences. They just plain have a different perspective of things than we do and they are quite sanguine about looking past the present situation. I believe that radical Islam has stirred the entire region up enough that the Muslims in high places are ready to figure out better ways of keeping their restless masses under control and away from radicals. They are very savvy about social media and almost completely unhindered by “political correctness.”

I can well imagine that Tillerson and Mattis have a far clearer “practical” view of dealing with these people than most academics philosophizing about the metaphysics of colliding societies as organic entities resisting and adapting and blah, blah, blah.

Every time there’s an attack, our rulers start prattling on about “backlash” – sometimes before the bodies have been removed from the scene.

My hope is that there’s not a backlash in the usual sense but I’d like to think there is someway to instill fear in the Muslim population along the lines of: it’s time to make a decision: adapt and embrace the western society you live in or move to a country with a culture more to your taste.

If someone wants to live under Islamic law, it’s certainly not my place to stop them… they just need to do it somewhere else. If they don’t see a need to adapt to our culture, I don’t see any need to adapt to theirs. And I won’t.

Mark Steyn has noted (a couple thousand times) the Islamified areas of London, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Paris and lesser places like Malmo, Birmingham, etc, etc. When Islamic “values” move in, the oxygen (diversity) we claim to celebrate gets sucked out.

Trump has frightened the horses by criticizing the mayor of London and others about the lack of “alarm”… well, we in the west need to be alarmed.

My bet is that few westerners voted for a security state where soldiers are routinely deployed to nude beaches in the south of France; where landmarks like the Eiffel Tower have to be encased; where routine events, like music concerts and football games become high risk security concerns; where a substantial fifth column provide gov’t with justification to monitor the population’s day-to-day activities.

It hasn’t been all that long ago that boarding a plane meant waltzing through the metal detector and on the plane. I remember when a boarding pass on Southwest Airlines was a cash register receipt stapled to a bagage ticked and reusable plastic cards.

It’s not been that long ago that the biggest security issues at most events was pickpockets and the state’s biggest worry was sufficient fire escapes.

All this diversity has cost us a pretty penny – and few seem to have noticed or cared.

you want to frighten the larger muslim community, everytime there is a terror attack 10% of all muslims on the dole are removed.
on a serious note why doesn’t anyone address the most important issue, why are the politicians bringing these people to our countries.
