On the one year anniversary of the Orlando Pulse Massacre, the Democrat Media Complex went out of its way to avoid the salient facts about the Massacre.
America is in mourning, as we should be, on the year anniversary of the attack, but many in the media are purposely excluding the fact they were killed by a jihadist committed to the Islamic State. Instead, the media prefer calling it a “mass shooting” and “gun violence.” The MSM also prefers listing the victims as “those who died” or “lost their lives,” not those murdered by a terrorist.
One of the worst examples is The Washington Post and its headline, “A year ago, 49 people died at Pulse nightclub. Today, Orlando remembers.” But that’s not so bad, right? Surely, in the article, terrorism will be mentioned. Think again. The words used are “massacre,” “gun violence,” and “deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.” No mention of terrorism. Zero. The article identifies Omar Mateen, but only as the “gunman” who “fired his first bullet” at 2:02 a.m.
These are facts:
- The mass murderer was an Islamic Supremacist named Omar Mateen.
- Omar Mateen was the son of an Afghan refugee who was also an Islamic Supremacist.
- Omar Mateen pledged his fidelity to ISIS shortly before the massacre.
- Omar Mateen had been on the FBI’s terror watchlist three years before the attack, but after interviewing him, the FBI decided he wasn’t a threat and removed him from the list.
- Omar Mateen was a registered Democrat.
- Omar Mateen’s father attended a Hillary for President rally a few weeks after the attack.
Once again, these are facts.
Good one, V. Sorry I just stepped on it. Will move mine down a notch.
Beat the narrative to fit , paint to match.
As Ann Coulter might write: “Florida man or Orlando man”.
Once in a while, I pick up someone’s copy of the KC Star and, after a couple of minutes, I am reminded why I haven’t paid for an issue in years.
If I could be bothered, I’d write the editor and ask him (her?) if anyone ever ponders why so many people no longer get their news from the MSM?
The left occulting what can be learned from a not-so-distant history again?
Why am I not surprised?

Oh wait. Now I recall.
Yeah. That’s why it’s a pleasure to blog with you. I’m your fan!
Did the FBI and Florida authorities ever (re)find Mateen’s wife/beard, after losing track of her before any serious questioning?
Willful blindness. Meanwhile the left screams and aggressively attacks Christians and people who want smaller government….
ILC and V the K (#1 and #2). One of the fun things on this blog is watching to two of you complement (and now compliment) each other.
Serial killers are encouraged by the use of their name in the media. Those who are budding serial killers are encouraged as well. Not sure it’s the best idea to emphasise the name of the killer over those of the victims. But what do I know. Not much.
“one of the worst examples is the Washington post,” I have two words for you, jeff bezos
CCP: Technically, Mateen is/was a mass murderer, not a serial killer. Though I agree with your post otherwise.
General comment: Too often the media gets giddy over both types of murderer. I am glad (mournfully) that the names of the victims are being honored today, but incensed that the true nature of the crime (Islamic gay-hating violence) is conveniently eschewed to fit the appropriate DMC narrative.
