Evidence of Trump-Russia collusion?

July 7, 2017 by Jeff (ILoveCapitalism)

Trump and Putin shake hands at the G20 meeting

At this meeting, they reached a Syria cease-fire agreement.

HAMBURG — A cease-fire agreement reached Friday between the United States and Russia is intended to quell fighting in southwest Syria and allow anti-government rebels there to focus on the Islamic State, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said…

The fighting has caused an estimated 500,000 deaths and displaced nearly half of Syria’s pre-war population of 22 million people.

In case it needs spelling out: The cease-fire is a good thing, and this post’s title is parody.

Raise your hand if you are old enough to remember when Democrats liked peace, said things like “Politics stops at the water’s edge”, and thought that it would be good if the world’s top two nuclear powers (Russia and the U.S.) could find ways to get along.

I’m old enough to remember when the Soviet Union existed and the U.S. needed to fight their aggressive communism. And I remember that the Soviet Union ended, and that Islam became a threat – to gays especially.

UPDATE: Photo session where France’s Macron shoves his way through, to stand next to President Trump. Macron starts at the viewer’s upper right; Trump lower left.

It made me laugh. I’m not sure why. I did get an impression of a puppy scrambling to be next to the alpha dog. Merkel tracks Macron anxiously; almost like he was supposed to stand next to her? Anyway, it’s a contrast to that famous photo where Obama stood alone with The Wives.

Mohammedans are a threat to gays, women, Christians, Jews, atheists, and any Muslim that doesn’t subscribe to their fascist totalitarianism.

I am old enough to remember when American politics were not stale-mated by polarization. And, I remember when liberals could express their political goals in objective terms rather than going into emotional overdrive and demonizing those who did not get on board with their demands.

    But that was then.

It appears to me that Trump and Putin may well be under the sober understanding that polarization is a dead end.

Bashar Hafez al-Assad is an Alawite. Alawites are part of the Shia sect and represent only 11 percent of the Syrian population. They ascribe to a tribal reality that if they are not in control, they are under threat of extinction. So, they have a blood pledge to hold onto power.

Putin and Trump are fully aware that Bashar Hafez al-Assad has already dispersed half of the population of Syria and that much of the country is in rebel hands. Bashar Hafez al-Assad is not free to negotiate the Alawites into oblivion. So, his die is cast.

If Putin and Trump can work out the areas in which they can be cooperative, they will each be able to co-opt one another from engaging in minor skirmishes. Once again, Tillerson is the model for keeping competitiveness and cooperation in balance.

A President primarily motivated by political instincts sees things through a different lens than does the leader of a team of movers and shakers who can see how to reach successful results without being beholden to any political entity.

Statists have to hate this type of “rogue” governing. But an elected dictator like Putin understands it fully.

This is a thought about Trump, Putin collusion. Vladimir Putin’s party is called Russia First. His pledge to the Russian people is to make Russia Great.Ergo similar ideologically, but there is no there . Putin doesn’t take stupid pills, he would know that what he believes his great task of reassembling the Russian Empire would be easier with Hillary in the White House.(hell , she might have sold him Alaska, in exchange for having to endure her speeches’ . Then Sarah Palin really could have sent Russia from her back yard. Trump’s task is to convince him Empires don’t make a nation great, that cooperation with the United States is a better route, for him and the Russian people. (Putin is after all a pirate at heart, he wants his cut)

Everybody missed this one, though, as the photo-op was kept top secret for Macron’s own private record only:

I’m guessing for his nostalgia times when he will have to write his Napoleonic memoirs.
