Democrats colluded with Russia to hack 2016 election

We’ve been thinking this for months, but here’s another post because this article explains it so well:

While the mainstream news media hunts for evidence of Trump-Russia collusion, the public record shows that Democrats have willfully used Moscow disinformation to influence the presidential election against Donald Trump and attack his administration.

The disinformation came in the form of a Russian-fed dossier written by former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele. It contains a series of unverified criminal charges against Mr. Trump’s campaign aides…

Some Democrats have widely circulated the discredited information. Mr. Steele was paid by the Democrat-funded opposition research firm Fusion GPS with money from a Hillary Clinton backer. Fusion GPS distributed the dossier among Democrats and journalists. The information fell into the hands of the FBI, which used it in part to investigate Mr. Trump’s campaign aides.

Mr. Steele makes clear that his unproven charges came almost exclusively from sources linked to the Kremlin and Russian President Vladimir Putin…

“If anyone colluded with the Russians, it was the Democrats,” said a former Trump campaign adviser who asked not to be identified because of the pending investigations. “After all, they’ve routinely shopped around false claims from the debunked Steele dossier, which listed sources including senior Kremlin officials. If anyone should be investigated in Washington, it ought to be Adam Schiff, Eric Swalwell, Mark Warner and their staffers.”

RTWT. It has more detail on why the dossier was fake and how Hillary’s campaign used it anyway.

My major criticism of the article would be that John McCain’s name doesn’t appear; I’ve noted recently how he had such early access to the dossier as to suggest that he may have helped spread it.

The founder of Fusion GPS is going to “plead the fifth” about his company’s role in all this.

[Senate Judiciary] Committee chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and ranking member Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., confirmed in a statement that they subpoenaed Simpson to appear before the committee Wednesday as part of a hearing about the influence of foreign lobbying in last year’s presidential election.

“Simpson’s attorney has asserted that his client will invoke his Fifth Amendment rights in response to the subpoena,” Grassley and Feinstein said.

Remember that Fusion GPS also had ties to Natalia Veselnitskaya lobbying in favor of Putin (that is, lobbying against the anti-Putin Magnitsky Act). Fusion GPS had a representative at Veselnitskaya’s nothing-meeting with Donald Trump Jr., that lefties were so excited about last week.

UPDATE: They reached an agreement with the Fusion GPS guy to get an interview (I think that’s not under oath?). But Democrats stalled the committee interviewing another Fusion GPS-related witness. Dems must be really nervous.

  1. Not a lawyer but at what point does “colluding” with the Russians (or Saudis or Justin Trudeau) become criminal?

Why is Fusion GPS planning to take the Fifth? Do they think they crossed the line?

Sleazy, unethical? Maybe but we are talking about politicians.

It disgusts me to no end that our so-called representatives (both sides of the aisle) are arranging the desk chairs while the ship is headed for the iceberg.

Republicans AND Democrats are going to regret, bitterly, that they’ve uncorked the bottle to punish Trump. If the Dems really think the sedition genie will go back in the bottle once they regain power, they’re dumber than I thought.

No matter how erratic DJT’s administration is, it’s nothing compared to the damage that the Deep State and Congress are doing.

Why can’t people see all this and realize that we’ve given politicians far too much that can be bought and sold? Does anyone think John McCain or Elizabeth Warren gives a rat’s behind what goes on outside their bubble?

Too bad the states don’t get an Article V convention going to, at least, impose term limits on Congress for starters. (It’s because most of that lot yearn for the day that they, too, can feast on what’s left.)

  2. Collusion basically means working together. So what did any of these people really do but cause confusion and more lack of confidence in US government?

  3. KCRob, The Administration is no more erratic than any other, it is the leaks being published selectively that are giving that impression.

There is no evidence of collusion by the Trump campaign & there is no statute against “collusion” anyway. It’s all about the old stink of who’s whispering to which boogeyman of the moment. There’s also no evidence that meddling by Russia influenced the vote. They meddle, we meddle, everyone meddles.

The ship isn’t sinking & it’s not in trouble. There is obstruction & idiots in Congress are distracted by their multiple investigations about the “Red Threat”, their distractions about members who are even less than “Rino’s”, their distractions by members who are so pure of heart & afraid of making a decision that they’re not afraid of being revealed as promise-breakers & liars (on Obamacare repeal). There’s a reason why there is a Majority Whip & plenty of clear examples of why not having one (Scalise being on the mend) has been a disaster. All this being a reason why no Congress enjoys universal approval, all this being an illustration just how SOL we were during Obama’s nightmarish tenure.

I also think the fake dossier is a collusion by the Democrats & the GOP Establishment embodied by a dying, bitter, little man who was insulted that not everyone thinks he was a war hero, instead of just another POW with a story of survival. Not everyone is dictionary-free with their definitions.

Yeah, try & get the Republicans to protect their own. They’re too busy looking a gift-horse in the mouth. The Establishment pro-large government GOP would have preferred a Hillary in the WH so they could continue to be ceremonial nothings, pretending to represent people. But it’s even worse than than that & I agree with Pres Trump’s new word for DC. It’s a sewer, not a swamp. Even Gowdy loves his investigations so much that he’s not willing to say enough is enough. They’ve already found the extend of Russian meddling.

  4. KCRob: you do know there’s an active movement to actually CALL a convention of states, right? Read The Liberty Amendments, by Mark Levin.

  5. KCRob @ #1:

It disgusts me to no end that our so-called representatives (both sides of the aisle) are arranging the desk chairs while the ship is headed for the iceberg.

Think of the establishment politicians on both sides of the aisle as Cosa Nostra – Our Thing – and the Democrats and the Republicans as two Sicilian Mafia families fighting over control.

The Cosa Nostra – Our Thing – aspect is business as usual and sometimes rival families simply have to cooperate in order to keep the whole game alive.

In their world, they control the iceberg.

    And then

Every mornin’ at nine you could see him arrive
He stood six-foot-six and weighed two-forty-five
Kinda broad at the shoulder and narrow at the hip
And everybody knew ya had ta watch your lip to big Trump
    (Big Trump, big Trump)
    Big bad Trump (big Trump)

Trump’s a rogue elephant and he is breaking up the establishment furniture and messing up the watering hole where the establishment and the crony capitalists play games of hide and seek and money flows and wheels are greased.

Its a Cosa Nostra – Our Thing – world and the establishment is doing their best to keep it humming. They are crooks and liars skimming the U.S. treasury while worrying all de liv long day about de chil’run. Think of the chil’run and da ole folks and de immygrunts and de po people in de ghetto and da sick uns and de downtrodden.
