Trump Derangement Syndrome

July 31, 2017 by Jeff (ILoveCapitalism)

A few days ago, author JK Rowling falsely accused President Trump of snubbing a 3-year old boy in a wheelchair. Trump did shake the boy’s hand, and even stooped to pick up something for him. But an edited video was posted to omit all that, and you can guess the rest. The JK Rowlings of the world were eager to call Trump a “monster of narcissism”.

Chelsea Clinton re-tweeted (joined in) at first; but she backpedaled somewhat, after seeing the real video. As of this writing, Rowling still hasn’t apologized; not even after she has been condemned by the boy’s mother and condemned even by the likes of CNN’s Brian Stelter (himself a frequent sufferer of Trump Derangement Syndrome). Ever wonder if JK Rowling is dumber than Chelsea Clinton? There it is.

Meanwhile, Huffington Post Writer Dan Arel Endorses Political Violence Against Trump Supporters. His logic is the classic, I’m pretty sure my political opponents are somehow Nazi rapists; therefore I’m justified. Wicked people always tell themselves they’re doing good.

From the comments: rusty points out that, later on Monday, Rowling finally retracted her statements. Contrary to the media’s headlines, she did not apologize. (Remember, it was President Trump whom she slandered as a “monster”; not the little boy or his family. She misdirected her new remarks to them and gave Trump zero.) But at least she acknowledged having gotten the story wrong. That’s partway there, I suppose.

    Rowling is channeling Rita Skeeter.

She needs to confine herself to Hogwarts. The real world seems to have gotten to her.

J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, apologized Monday for incorrectly suggesting on Twitter that President Donald Trump had snubbed a disabled child during a press conference on healthcare in late July.
Rowling’s apology came hours after PolitiFact rated her original tweets — which have all since been deleted — as “Pants on Fire,” concluding that her comments were founded on an edited clip from which Trump’s greeting to 3-year-old Monty Weer was cut. Weer is confined to a wheelchair because of a spinal birth defect.
“Multiple sources have informed me that that was not a full or accurate representation of their interaction,” Rowling tweeted.
“I very clearly projected my own sensitivities around the issue of disabled people being overlooked or ignored onto the images I saw and if that caused any distress to that boy or his family, I apologise unreservedly,” she continued.

And it only to JK Rowling a week of criticism and a double pants-on-fire rating from Politifact for her to issue a half-assed “if I hurt someone’s feelings” fauxpology.
