Israel, Hungary agree that Soros is bad

August 5, 2017 by Jeff (ILoveCapitalism)

From Reuters:

Israel’s foreign ministry has issued a statement denouncing U.S. billionaire George Soros, a move that appeared designed to align Israel more closely with Hungary ahead of a visit to Budapest next week by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Soros, a Hungarian-born Jew who has spent a large part of his fortune funding pro-democracy and human rights groups, has repeatedly been targeted by Hungary’s right-wing government, in particular over his support for more open immigration.

For the record, Reuters’ framing of Soros there is rather fawning.

  • He funds globalist and left-wing causes (not “pro-democracy” ones), such as David Brock’s smear armies.
  • Some allege that Soros also finances wars and mercenary soldiers.
  • He doesn’t support “open immigration” so much as he supports burying Europe in young, male Muslims who can’t be assimilated and who do large-scale rapes.

But, to continue:

In the latest case, Prime Minister Viktor Orban has backed a campaign in which Soros is singled out as an enemy of the state. “Let’s not allow Soros to have the last laugh” say billboards next to a picture of the 86-year-old investor, a campaign that Jewish groups and others say foments anti-Semitism.

…Hungarian Jewish groups and Human Rights Watch, an organization partly funded by Soros, have condemned the campaign…

…Israel’s ambassador to Hungary issued a statement denouncing the campaign…But hours after the ambassador made his comments over the weekend, Israel’s foreign ministry issued a “clarification” saying that Soros was a legitimate target for criticism.

“In no way was the statement (by the ambassador) meant to delegitimize criticism of George Soros, who continuously undermines Israel’s democratically elected governments,” said foreign ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon, adding that Soros funded organizations “that defame the Jewish state and seek to deny it the right to defend itself”.

UPDATE: Rep. Steve King says that President Obama gave millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to Soros-funded organizations to influence foreign elections, like in Balkan countries.

That should give you an idea of what Hungary has against Soros. And if the part about Obama and taxpayer money is true, it’s yet another sign of how bad Obama was.

    Hmmm
Seems like you forgot to mention that Israel initially condemned these attacks in Hungry:

[Wrong again, mike. The middle section of what I quoted from Reuters, states up-front that the Israeli ambassador to Hungary initially denounced the anti-Soros campaign.

It would be such a treat, if – once, just ONE time, mike – you bothered to actually read and understand the full post. –ILC]

Then Netanyahu got personally involved and let politics override common sense.

I urge you to reconsider before you start your fawning over Orban. I have spent considerable amount of time in that country and there is some real nasty anti-Semitic vibes that can get unleashed quick.

Whenever “jew” as an adherent of Judaism is mixed with “jew” as a family lineage, you are just a footstep away from genetics and holocaust. Furthermore, this Zionist and non-Zionist war within and among the Jewish people has boiled over into areas of politics which are not confined to political differences within and amongst the Jewish people. Therefore, I cringe whenever the “jew” card is thrown into the Soros pot.

When all the thinly veiled snark about “Neo-cons” burst forth from within the Jewish feud, we all got suckered.

Since forever, the Jew has been both useful and despised in the statecraft in the Western world.

Soros is a globalist with Jewish lineage and so far as I can tell, he will screw anybody who gets in his path without regard to their heritage. He is a total opportunist with neither soul nor compunction. Anyone who “befriends” him is a fool, because Soros is without need of any friends. Soros inherited the coldness of Shylock: “This kindness will I show. Go with me to a notary, seal me there your single bond; and, in a merry sport, if you repay me not on such a day, in such a place, such sum or sums as are express’d in the condition, let the forfeit be nominated for an equal pound of your fair flesh, to be cut off and taken in what part of your body pleaseth me.”

Soros is the enemy of every state. He doesn’t love or hate; he leverages.

Heliotrope – just for the record (because I know you meant ZERO offense), I never “throw the jew card in the Soros pot”. And I’m not aware of Orban having done so, in this instance.

But *opponents* of Hungary, Orban, and/or sound policies everywhere will pretend that the card was thrown in the pot – thus being the ones to throw it in the pot themselves – which is a dirty trick to make sure things get dirty, suiting their purpose of confusing and misleading people.

They take a legit anti-Soros campaign and shriek about its anti-Semitic overtones (where none existed), thus manufacturing or injecting anti-Semitic overtones (where none existed). As we see mike do at #3.

Both the Reuters article I quoted, and mike’s Haaretz article, report anti-Semitic graffiti being spraypainted onto the anti-Soros posters. It would not surprise me in the least, if it turned out Soros himself had paid money to have that done. Soros is no stranger to that type of trick.

Ooops. ILC, I should have been more careful.

The Reuters quote in the first block says: “Soros, a Hungarian-born Jew who has spent a large part of his fortune funding pro-democracy and human rights groups, ….”

That was the Jew card I was referring to. If you get all prim and proper in the editor’s realm (and I do), Soros is Hungarian by birth, not a Hungarian-born Jew. A Hungarian-born Jew is a JEW who happened to be born in Hungary. JEW, JEW, JEW.

Not being Jewish, I take more offense at the editorial construction of the identification than anything indicating the “fact” of being a Jew. I doubt seriously that Reuters would have bothered to identify Soros as a Hungarian-born Catholic. But Catholics aren’t confusing genetics and religion.

Eventually, the Israel-Palastinian conundrum bumps into “the Jewish presence.” International banking bumps into the “Jewish presence.” Cray,Cray’s Hollyweird world is chockablock full of the “Jewish presence.” The liberal/Progressive DemonizingRats are top-heavy with the “Jewish presence.” Universities, such as Harvard, used to keep the “Jewish presence” low. The publishing world is full of the “Jewish presence.” We can pretend that all of this is not the case, but that would be a lie.

I apologize for not properly “targeting” my comments. Furthermore, I hope I have not invited the crazies to come out with their ancient and silly conspiracy theories.

@ Heliotrope: I’m sorry, but all sources I can find say that Soros is a Hungarian Jew. His family were non-observant Jews who changed their name from Schwartz to Soros, which roughly translates from Hungarian as “heir” and from Esperanto as “to soar” (his father was a Esperantist).

I could not care less that Soros is a jew or a toad-looking multi billionaire.

I have nothing against anyone who happened to make their way into becoming multi billionaire — as long as they didn’t achieve it by application of the motto “the ends justifies the means”.

Which is exactly the credo and, just as much, the preferred modus operandi of Soros, the Globalist Communist toad-looking freak.

Systematic and deceptive (*) plunder of the masses coming from the top for securing their elite status.

I find it strange that you apparently approve of Hungary’s stance, ILoveCapitalism. Hungary’s “right-wing” government got all huffy when Soros called them a “mafia state”, and want to give Soros a hard time. That is the same government that is steadily dismantling democratic norms in Hungary. I would like to understand why you appear to be OK with that. Apart from the possibility that the enemy of my enemy is my friend…

Cas, the title of the post is “Israel, Hungary [meaning the governments] agree that Soros is bad”.

That’s the claim. And it’s factual. It’s not an evaluation of Orban one way or the other (which would be another discussion). Also it’s not a matter of opinion, but a statement of fact. It seems that the fact alone, bothers some people.

Sean L @ #7. Soros is Jewish by all reckoning I have read. My point about Reuters is one of correct style in journalism. Reuters, to be journalistically correct, should have identified Soros as Hungarian born and Jewish. But even then, an emphasis is being placed on point, unless Soros could not be Soros if he were not Jewish.

No need to repeat here the many strands of coinkydinks associated with being Jewish.

What difference does it make if Soros is identified as a Hungarian-born Jew or a Romanian-born Jew? The point would be that Soros is a Jew. So what? Maybe he is also a diabetic. Or an orphan. Or of unknown parentage. The issue is Soros, the descriptor should enhance the profile, not overtake it. Reuters broke the rule of neutral identifiers. They could have identified Soros as a Hungarian-born investor.

Suppose Soros is a Hungarian born transgendered atheist. How does that guide the reader? The reporting is about Soros. At some point, the police blotter stuff can be included: Soros has been married seventy-eleven times, has three yachts, is Jewish, is white, has an unknown number of children, is a meat loving vegan, wears boxers and drinks Sprite.

Journalism has become so tabloid, that nuance flourishes and is no longer even noticed by editors. So, the sum of introducing George Soros in a news article is as a Hungarian-born Jew. ( Psst! He was born in Hungary! and, he’s j-e-w-i-s-h !!!!) or gay.

No problem, ILoveCapitalism. But context matters, and the fact that Hungary is ticked off with Soros is not something that supports the outrage you offer …

    Comment by Cas

What outrage … would that be?

Soros has leveraged economies hither and yon to his financial gain without a care in the world about whether Jews were being hurt or paraplegics or simple farmers or village doctors or little chil’runs or blacks or Marxists or the retarded or the saintly or anyone. Soros is all about money, money, money and he has a pretty good pot full of it.

Soros has financed some social justice warrior crusades. He loves chaos and what it does to economies. Wars require usurers for financing and usurers are the best friends of war. Nothing like making high risk loans on weapons you provide at highly inflated prices. Nothing like funding useful idiots to cause internal stress and turmoil. Nothing like collapsing economies with internal strife. Nothing like unleashing drugs on dysfunctional people. “Find out what they like, and how they like it, and let him have it just that way – Give them what they want, and when they want it — ” that’s the George Soros useful idiot way.

Look, Hungary was a basket case when the Marxists lost control. It has been badly governed and a debt mess ever since. All those people who lived in state housing, fed by the state, doctored by the state, “employed” by the state were given ownership of their apartments and left to find their own jobs, feed themselves, take care of community property, and so forth. Imagine East Germany if West Germany had not immediately poured $2 Trillion West German into East Germany. No economic force did that in Hungary. Predators like George Soros arrived, but like all former Soviet Block countries, there was no guardian angel helping the people.

Hungary has enormous problems with organized crime and local thugs. Since “power” abhors a vacuum, some sort of power – corrupt or not – will fill the void. Soros is busy funding the chaos. He thrives on the profits embedded in instability. Soros, the “Hungarian-born Jew” may be funding Hungarian Jews, but only to screw them for profit. It is no more complicated than that.

As to ILC’s outrage … we will just have to wait to see if Cas will deign to inform us of what it might be.

Agreed. I wrote a factual post. I took a stand on Soros as such; but my attitude was more amused than anything. That both Hungary and Israel would be down on this “Hungarian Jew” and rather bad man, is funny. Maybe I should have put “Humor” as one of the categories.
