  3. I clicked a link to an article on programming earlier (Infoworld, I think). Before the author (“male”) got to the point, he had to signal his virtue by mentioning Damore’s “screed” and then stating the fact that the “screed” had no science to back it up.

Well, yes there is some science there but most scientists shy away from making career-detonating comments as truth is no defense. Ask Jason Richwine and James Watson (a Nobel Prize is no defense).

At that point, I went no further (so I’m assuming the article actually did have a point). This is an obsession with these people.

I’ve worked with some smart and clever women and one thing I noticed, at least in my experience, was that these women weren’t whiners looking for any reason to head to HR. They could give as good as they got and were a pleasure to work with. A couple of them reminded me of Alice of Dilbertland although they weren’t known for unholstering the Fist of Death very often.

  5. The only reason for the comparison is that Apple’s motto is Think Differently. In reality, the corporate atmosphere at Apple is similar to Google.

True dat. But at least Apple wasn’t stupid enough to get caught doing what Google did—yet.
