The Long March to Progressive Fascism

Did you ever think a day would come in America when the Progressive Left openly and proudly professed that they despise Free Speech and the US Constitution?

This  year, Princeton University’s annual Constitution Day Lecture contended that “the academy has never promoted free speech as a central value.”

The lecture, given by Prof. Carolyn Rouse, Chair of the Department of Anthropology and Director of the Program in African Studies, was entitled “F%*# Free Speech: An Anthropologist’s Take on Campus Speech Debates.”

A majority of Democrats in California now openly oppose Free Speech.

  1. They have been showing for years that they despise ANY speech that doesn’t support their social and political positions (and if they change, you better change just as quick and destroy any evidence of the old position).
Evidence the ongoing controversies over baking cakes, making floral displays, and taking photographs, among other areas.
Note how this only applies to certain groups, for example: a Muslim truck driver cannot be required to deliver beer, but a Christian baker or florist can be compelled to support a gay wedding.

  2. Blacks ignoring looting laws – Tolerated ✔
Muslims ignoring rape laws – Tolerated ✔

Leftist cities ignoring immigration laws – Tolerated ✔
Whites ignoring speech control laws – Uh oh, now we gotta enforce the letter of the law

  5. @3: I saw the item about the domain registrar in OZ threatening to remove gab’s domain (DNS? whatever it’s called).

Funny think about OZ: Australia has always had a reputation as home to rough and tumble individualists but, in reality, I think the only thing they’re rough and tumble about is drink.

It’s a nanny state. A few years ago, three college students were hauled to court after being denied entry to an “indigenous peoples'” computer lab.One student remarked on Faceberg ““Just got kicked out of the unsigned indigenous computer room. QUT stopping segregation with segregation?”. (QUT = Queensland Univ of Tech)

Ultimately, the case was tossed out after more than three years of legal wrangling (what a way to spend 3+ years of one’s life).

Lefties are OK with thought-policing as long as they’re the one’s making the rules. I don’t think they’re smart enough to note that other lefties have differing opinions on what those rules should be and, thus, are not immune to prosecution.

Australia’s section 18C (like the law in other countries) is a travesty since it is not possible for one to know whether or not they’re in violation since the only elements of the crime are subjective – relying on so-and-so’s feelings.

It’s not surprising that Princeton is on this bandwagon – it takes and Ivy League education to come up with stuff this stupid.

  6. They are not Democrats. They are Communists. Because Communists throw people in jail or execute those that disagree with their utopian views.

  9. Thought Policing is fine so long as “People Like Us” do the policing but as Trump has shown, this is not always the case. The only way to get rid of thought policing is to vigorously apply it to its creators.

  11. They were for free speech until they controlled the institutions. Now their power is threatened so they become those they despised.

They know full well how they toppled the existing power through their free speech and know they could very well wind up with the same fate.
